3 inches taller

Hope you’ve had an awesome Thursday! <3

Some things from the day:

-A posture and balance workshop. We used small balls and tennis balls for stretch and balancing poses, and wow. I feel 3 inches taller and like a NOODLE. My favorite one was on our back, placing a small firm ball on the back of our neck with feet planted on the floor. We slowly rotated our neck from side to side, back to the center and took the ball out. It makes me sigh of happiness just thinking about it.

-This ridiculous basket that one of the interns made for the fitness staff. We always have treats in the locker room, but this was an extraordinary surprise:

treat basket

Candy, bars, Gatorade, TJs goodies, lip glosses, hand sanitizer, lotion, shower gel and a beautiful card

For the record, chocolate-covered potato chips are the epitome of foodgasm. The texture is almost like toffee. I tried one, and tried another just to make sure it was really that awesome.

-New lulu on the doorstep

-Some eats

work food

Seaweed snacks, apple, Larabar, protein oats in an almond butter jar and a beastly salad with turkey, tomatoes, goat cheese, tomatoes and balsamic

salad beast2

All packed up and ready to go in my RhodeyGirlTests bag 🙂

work stuff

-My friend (who had a baby 2 months before me) and I pinching each other with the calipers. I didn’t get my comps last week because we had bellydance practice for the recital, but we took each other’s today. It wasn’t as high as I was expecting, but definitely not where I’ve been before. I’m excited to have a starting point and way to track results as I try to build some lost muscle back.

-An extra dose of inspiration. I love chatting with all of the guests at work- I’m always amazed by their stories and desire to make positive transformations and amp up their health and fitness. I was talking to a guest today, here’s a nutshell version of what he said: If he had the opportunity to buy his health back, he would in a second. He said that he’s so thankful to have been blessed in so many ways, but is worried he won’t be able to enjoy it to the fullest. He told me that there are so many things and distractions in life, but all he cares about are health, friends and family.

That’s the core of my values right there. Other things are just the icing on the cake, but good health, friends and family are the only things that really matter.

Just got home to my favorite people, and we’re off to dinner <3

Hope you have a lovely night!
xoxo

Gina

    1. I miss Trader Joe’s so badly, especially knowing that they now have chocolate covered potato chips.
    2. Did you get the blurred blossom daily tank or CRB? I ordered the daily tank and should be getting it tomorrow, but after reading some not so stellar reviews, I’m nervous about not liking it.

    • Fitnessista on April 19, 2012 at 10:58 pm

i got it in the scoop neck tank. saw one of the guests wearing the daily tank and it looked really cute!

      • Krystina on April 20, 2012 at 12:46 am

The scoop neck is so cute! I really like the new April Wee are from Space print, too.

    • Michelle on April 19, 2012 at 11:33 pm

I tried on the daily tank today and it is *really* cute, but I would size down if I got it because the straps were really big for me. And it’s super long! (Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing)

      • Krystina on April 20, 2012 at 12:47 am

Awesome, thanks! I was concerned about the straps slipping but I figured that wouldn’t be a problem since I have pretty broad shoulders. I’m excited to try it on. 🙂

Wow milk chocolate covered potato chips, this is something new, and I am on a mission to find them asap!!

Hello there 🙂 I don’t think calipers are very accurate. I once had my body fat analyzed at my local gym using calipers… and it came out to around 32%?!?! Except… I’m actually quite tiny. Granted… I could work on some muscle tone & yeah… I’m not the fittest bunny in the gym. BUT… 32%?!?! Really?! Aaaaanyhooooo… that gift basket looks ahmazing dahling!

    • Krista on April 19, 2012 at 9:25 pm

probably user error or poor quality calipers. when done by a well trained professional the margin of error is only 3-4%.

      • Fitnessista on April 19, 2012 at 10:56 pm

that’s right- if you know how to use them, they can be pretty accurate

i totally want that basket full of treats!! yumm

  5. peanutbutterlover on April 19, 2012 at 9:32 pm

There is a recipe for chocolate-covered potato chips in one of my great-grandmother’s cookbooks, but I’ve never made them. I would have liked them too much! Haha.

I’m intrigued by that workshop! Any chance you could share some of the exercises with us (or point us in the direction of some)?

    • Fitnessista on April 19, 2012 at 10:55 pm

i searched while i was writing the blog post, and couldnt find anything similar 🙁
i’d love to post what i learned, but i think that it somehow violates my work contract because they send out certain fitness presenters to teach us. so i can post a tiny bit or the general gist, but not everything i learned :/

I have seen chocolate covered potato chips but have always been a bit hesitant to try them! Looks like I’ll have to now!! I am sure they have that yummy sweet n’ salty thing going on like chocolate covered pretzels.

    • Fitnessista on April 19, 2012 at 10:54 pm

      exactly. glorious

  8. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on April 19, 2012 at 10:08 pm

That man staying at the resort sounds really smart.Health is the biggest gift. And nosey question, I hope its okay for me to ask, but do you still get ur Lululemon discount now that u don’t work there anymore?

    • Fitnessista on April 19, 2012 at 10:54 pm

i do get a small discount for being a fitness professional, and at work because they sell it there, but online: no 🙁
i miss that employee discount, though!

      • Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on April 19, 2012 at 11:48 pm

I can imagine! I work at Macys right now and I’m sad for when I graduate college and leave there because I’ll lose my discount.

  9. andrea on April 19, 2012 at 10:34 pm

I spy my favorite salad dressing! I can’t eat any other dressing!!

  10. Lisa on April 19, 2012 at 11:41 pm

I seriously have been loving sweet n salty combos lately! I recently tried oats with goat cheese, homemade strawberry chia jam, and egg whites. Sounds so odd, but it was delicious! I loooove lulu. I STILL have a gift card from christmas, I have to spend that pronto! Have a great day!

  11. Averie @ Averie Cooks on April 19, 2012 at 11:42 pm

Now THAT’S a gift basket of goodies..love it! I can spy some of my own personal faves in it 🙂 That Balance honey peanut is one of my fave flavors of bars, ever. It doesn’t get the love it deserves and I think is overshadowed by choc, PB, or cookie dough, but I love it and don’t buy many bars, but that’s one I will buy.

  12. JACLYN @JUSTJAC on April 20, 2012 at 1:11 am

Those new lulus look awesome!! You will have to post another pic so we can see the design! gah i love lulu and this is making me want someeeeeee….

    😀

Very inspirational. 🙂 When you’re ready to greet the next life, and you have a moment to look back on this life, I’m guessing we are all going to remember the people that made it worthwhile and nothing else.

I’ve never tried any seaweed snacks. Are they mushy or crunchy?

Also, my hip has hurt since giving birth 6 weeks ago. Like rediculously hurting. I had some test that showed nothing, then finally had an MRI the other day. I have a stress fracture. The Doc said I can’t even think of exercising until June and even then we’ll have to see. This KILLED me!! I am so ready to get back into it.
I think you did a post once about recovering from a knee injury and I was wanting to read it. I need some encouragement on taking it easy.

Lulu on your doorstep… it’s like Christmas in April! 😉

I love getting into deep conversations with strangers because sometimes they just have such great insight! Or they’ll say something so simple that just really resonates with you and makes you think. It’s refreshing!

  16. Melissa (Better Fit) on April 20, 2012 at 9:09 am

Wow- what an inspirational story about the guest at the gym. A great reminder of the important things in life! 🙂

  17. Ali @ Peaches and Football on April 20, 2012 at 9:11 am

What size ball did you use for the neck stretch thing? That sounds so wonderful I want to try!!

  18. Rebecca @ Miss Magnolia Munches & Moves on April 20, 2012 at 9:39 am

I ran a race this past weekend and saw so much cute spring Lulu! I love the blurred blosssoms print.
