6/9: Meals and fitness for the week

Hi friends 🙂 Hope you’re having an amazing weekend and that my Summer Shape Up friends are ready to start week 2 with a BANG. Plan and prep today, and take a look at the workout calendar to get an idea for this week’s workouts.

Friday night, the Pilot and I had a great date night together. We had dinner at The Abbey, which is one of our favorite spots. They serve comfort food with a modern flair (always a breakfast-for-dinner and sandwich option, in addition to the unique cheese boards, entrees and desserts) and while it still feels a little on the nicer side (for Tucson), it’s casual enough to bring Liv with us. She’s a huge fan of the pumpernickel bread they serve with sea salt and butter 😉

This time it was just Tom and myself, and we used a Groupon I’d recently purchased. The Groupon included wine, an appetizer (we got the artichoke dip) and two entrees (I chose the scallops, which were perfection). We also got dessert… even though we were stuffed to the brim, the German chocolate cake sundae sounded too good to pass up.

After dinner, we went to Sky Box where an 80s cover band, cleverly named “80s and Gentlemen,” was performing. We had margaritas, danced and people-watched. Since the Pilot had been flying nights, it was nice to be able to hang out and catch up on the week’s events.

Yesterday I taught all day, and I’m always excited to see what adventures the Pilot and Liv get into since it’s his day home with her while I work. Usually they’re go to her gym class or meet up with friends, and when I came home for my lunch break, I saw that the Pilot had taken Liv out to get a splash pool with a waterfall.

He had it all set up, propped up our huge umbrella to give her some shade,

and Oliv was splashing and LOVING life.

Nana had stopped by to drop off my contact lenses (thank you, nana!), so we all enjoyed a shish kabob lunch the Pilot grilled for us.

A perfect summer day.

Here’s what I have on the fitness menu for the week:

Sunday: Teach Zumba

Monday: CrossFit

Tuesday: OFF

Wednesday: Teach Zumba

Thursday: Teach DJ dance, Workout 2

Friday: OFF

Saturday: Teach World Beat, Zumba and Barre (whew!)

For our meals, I’m going to use a lot of the recipes from Week 2 of Summer Shape Up. I recently rekindled my love with breakfast cookie dough cereal -I always adore it in the warmer months- and am excited to make some coconut curry in the slow cooker on a work day.

What’s on the fitness and food menu for you this week? Remember to take a little time to plan and prep today. Set yourself up for success!

Hope you have a happy Sunday <3

See ya later with some pics from the day.

xoxo

Gina

Your breakfast cookie dough cereal allowed me to rekindle my love for oatmeal! I eat it at all times of the day…even as a midnight snack with some Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter. Thanks for the recipe 🙂

Wasn’t feeling well yesterday but got my butt to the gym anyway for my Monday workout. And success! Thanks, of course, to your motivation and inspiration.

Workout #2 was hard! I did it today along with some steady state cardio, and the 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 video as a finisher. HOLY COW. What a great calorie burn.
