8/25: Meals and fitness for the week

Hi friends! How was your weekend? Anything exciting happen?

Yesterday, I did my first longer run with my running group. We did 7 miles, and it was awesome to have people to chase the entire time 😉 We did a hilly there-and-back route, and even though it was balls early, I didn’t really wake up until it was over. I have a few friends who are running the half in November too -we’re going to make a girls’ weekend out of it- but we all live in different areas of town. We meet up for nighttime yoga, but can’t do early morning runs together since we all have little ones. My friends are also good at motivating themselves to run. Me… not so much 😉 I’m excited to have met some new people through my running group. and many of them are also around the same pace.

As far as my new sneaks go, I’m taking them back to get something similar to the Brooks I’ve ran in for the past year. I’ve been wearing my old ones for longer runs without any problems (knock on wood) and the new ones weren’t working out. They looked kind of cool but I’m good without the heel pain, thankyaverymucho.

Here’s what’s on the tentative fitness plan for the week:

Sunday: OFF (yeahhhh!)

Monday: Easy run (40-50 minutes)

Tuesday: Weights or yoga (no cardio)

Wednesday: Teaching day (Zumba is on the schedule for now) + track workout

Thursday: Teach DJ dance, Zumba + lunchtime weights (if I feel like it)

Friday: OFF

Saturday: Long run (no teaching; got the day covered)

Protein fudge 1 of 1 4

This week, I have a few recipe ideas I’m going to play with in addition to prepping some eats for the week.

Prep:

Thin mint protein fudge

-Chop and wash veggies

-Make baby popsicles and smoothie packs

-Turkey lentil muffins

Turkey muffins 1 of 1 3

Meal ideas:

-Sweet potato salmon cakes (was going to make these last week but ended up getting Pei Wei instead…)

Mexican pizzas

Carob chia pudding

The best chopped salad

Homemade spaghetti-o’s for a certain special someone

-Crockpot chicken with veggies and potatoes

Slow cooker chicken

I put a hold on our farm box since we were traveling, but am starting it back up again for this week. I’m pretty stoked to make some fresh juices and try out a couple of new recipes depending on what we get.

For now, it’s crepe time at the market 🙂

Have a very happy Sunday!

See ya later with some weekend pics.

xoxo

Gina

I am feeling those turkey lentil muffins and the crockpot chicken! It’s 94 degrees and high humidity in WI today though so crockpot and oven cooking needs to wait just a little bit.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the running club – what a smart idea to help you stick to more of a training plan. My brother joined one this year and has been joining them each Saturday for his “long run” as he preps for his first full marathon in the end of Sept. Pretty cool.

I need to try the turkey lentil muffins, they look so good! I am ready for my sprints session tomorrow morning in the park ( warm up, 15 min Interval sprints, 15 min steady, cool down) and I will probably live of my healthy superbowls this week, they are sooo delicious and well balanced!

LOVE the homemade spaghetti o’s! I made something similar for my middle girl, who has a spaghetti o addiction. She loves the Annie’s ones; I try to keep a can or 2 in the pantry.

Workouts: Try to get in a run or 2. Do a yoga or Pilates DVD. Try to get to Zumba or Step- haven’t done that in forever! Family walks.

My food ideas for the week…
This week, I am going to do my best to make a few more recipes.

T-bone steak, baked potatoes, veggie- had last night, and sooooo yummy!

Sunday- Girl’s night! When the husband’s away, us girls will play! Hubby has a late night, so I will let the girls pick dinner…can be waffles, Chinese food, pizza, and maybe even those Annie’s Spaghetti O’s

Monday- Taco Spaghetti I found on Pinterest Hopefully it turns out yummy!

Tuesday- My parents are coming over to take care of the girls. My husband and I both have class, so probably something quick on the road or something late thrown together.

    Wednesday- Hamburgers

Thursday- Chicken, Farro, and a veggie

    Friday- Date Night!

Good idea on taking the shoes back. We had a podiatrist come and chat to our running group on Saturday and he spoke of finding the right shoe for you. Check it out here http://fortheloveofpork.wordpress.com/

I’m trying to take my own advice and currently resting as I think I have a groin strain. So tempted to get out there and run!

We made similar homemade Mexican pizzas a couple weeks ago, and it’s my new favorite meal! I love Mexican food of course, but it’s also ridiculously easy and delicious!

Congrats on the long run! Glad you got it in. I am so jealous of your running group – I so wish I could find a group where I live. Enjoy your Sunday 🙂

Ran my first 10K today. Trying to get into a training plan. My husband is running a half in October and I want to run the 10K.

I like your pretty pink Garmin! Congrats on the run. I really think that running with other people helps you so much in terms of helping you go faster and condition better. When I run (which is not often), I always try to go with my husband because he pushes me!

Do you have a recipe for your crockpot chicken and veggies?

Love your prep posts, Gina! They always inspire me!
It feels so much better to be organized for the week, for both meals and fitness.
