9/2: Meals and Fitness for the week

A week that the Pilot will be home for dinner! He was gone for two weeks, then flew nights for three including last week- it’s always more fun to make dinner for two. Or, two and a half in our case 😉

Dad and liv 2

Last night was Liv’s first time trying salmon and she went CRAZY for it – I’m really excited to make it again for dinner later in the week.

Here’s what’s on the tentative plan for fitness, recipes and groceries:

Bent over row

(I updated last week’s with recipe links and changes, too)

Sun: Active recovery (I’ve been craving a yoga class, big-time) or OFF

Mon: Runday (practice 10k or at least 5 miles)

Tues: Jump rope strength circuit

Wed: Teach Zumba

Thurs: OFF

Fri: Schweaty September Workout (will be posted tomorrow am!)

Sat: Teach Zumba

Dinner 3

Recipes: (will post all the recipes as I make them)

Avocado Pizza

Blackened salmon with 3-bean salad

Chicken sausage, kale and chickpeas with quinoa

Homemade Chipotle burritos

Homemade chocolate protein bars

Ballz 2

Meal prep:

Amazeballs

Roast veggies for salads

Boil quinoa

Protein bars

New baby food recipes

Baby food 6

So what’s on the menu for the week? How did last week go?

Since we’re starting off a new week, and a new month, take a few minutes to write down some goals you want to tackle this month. What’s on the list? One of mine: to rock out my race in Cape Cod! If you’ll be there, be sure to hit up the mocktail party the night before.

Hope you have a happy Sunday!

See ya later on the Family page.

xoxo

Gina

Hi Gina, question for you. You’ve said before that you only work out 5ish times a week at 45 mins max. But based on all the new workout vids you’ve been posting for your readers, wouldn’t you say that actually adds up to a substantial amount of workout time per week, between developing, testing, and videotaping?

    • Fitnessista on September 2, 2012 at 2:09 pm

Not really- all my videos are filmed in one take, and if it’s a printable, I take pics of the moves I tested out as my own workout the previous week

I saw this recipe on Pinterest last week, and I’m making it for dinner tonight: http://www.prevention.com/food/cook/salt-solution-5-delicious-low-sodium-dinner-recipes?page=4

It’s basically a bunch of my favorite foods tossed together, so I figure I can’t miss!

Which Lulu shorts are you wearing in the pic above?

    • Fitnessista on September 2, 2012 at 4:05 pm

      run: speed shorts 🙂

      • Yaara on September 2, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Thanks girl! 🙂 I’ve been eyeing those exact ones for a while. Are the inner seams comfy though? I hate anything touching my skin when I work out–I need to feel free–even if you know what I mean.

        • Fitnessista on September 2, 2012 at 4:25 pm

yes they feel like you aren’t wearing anything 🙂

Hey, Mrs. Gina. Thinking about trying running. I’ve never ran in my life…even as a kid, unless it was toward cake. lol Any good playlist or fast song reco’s?

    • Fitnessista on September 2, 2012 at 4:15 pm

best of luck to you! make sure to ease into running instead of jumping into it. a program like couch to 5k is a great idea if you’re just getting started. as far as playlists go, i love anything by bond, metallica, muse or the killers while i run 🙂

      • Emma on September 2, 2012 at 4:48 pm

D’oh- I have so much Rock on my playlists and love Metallica, but have never thought of them for running!

Your meals for the week sound delicious – I can’t wait to see how the avocado pizza turns out! This week I’m planning on making a ratatouille served with chicken sausage, coconut salmon, and citrus tofu with peppers!

Your race in Cape Cod sounds so exciting!!! Wish it wasn’t sooo far from here, I’d love to go there! All that food sounds delish! Livi is so lucky you’re introducing her to such a wide variety of foods! 🙂

  17. @pluvk on September 2, 2012 at 11:57 pm

One thing I love about your blog is that your workouts and recipes are do-able! 🙂 I’m such a busy person that I cannot figure out how some can fit in 2-hour long workouts twice a day AND create amazing, five-course meals. I’m lucky if I can find time to pick up breakfast! LOL Thank you for making a healthy-lifestyle seem achievable. Can’t wait for Schweaty September!

  18. Emily @ Greens, Eggs, & Hamstrings on September 3, 2012 at 2:51 am

I usually try to plan 5 meals a week too so that we get a couple nights of leftovers or on the rare occasion that we might go out to eat! This week we’re having lentil veggie mac & cheese, asian chicken salad, peanut stirfry, turkey chili and enchiladas! yum.

Girl, you impress me! You are organized and it really inspires me. I think with school starting I will start following your lead and making a weekly schedule for what I make each day. I think that will really help me not stress/worry about cooking so much.

  22. Meghan @ After the Ivy League on September 4, 2012 at 8:58 am

I love that you plan meals and prep whatever you can ahead of time for the week ahead, so smart! I want to be this organized one day!
