-Girls’ night. I took two of the lovely ladies in my life (madre and nana!) and also met up with some girls from work to see our friend Susan perform in “Motherhood Out Loud.” I talk a little bit about it in this post, but it was even more touching, hilarious and beautiful than I expected.

Program

It was the kind of show where you’re covering your mouth with laughter one second and giving yourself the “do not ugly cry” pep talk the next. For my ugly cry, I look (and kind of sound) like a dinosaur. I’m afraid of dinosaurs. Anyway, if you’re in Tucson and are looking for a fun girls’ night event, check it out at the Invisible Theatre.

-Baby sunglasses. No words needed.

-Chocolate. About to finish my second bar of the week…

Choc bars

and while yoga is always a great choice to bring me back to center when things get a little crazy, chocolate tastes better sometimes.

Last, but certainly not least, thank you so much for your patience and general awesomeness (as usual) while we got the blog facelift up and running. Cody squashed the small kinks and problems that popped up, and I’m so happy to hear that you like the new layout. As always, if you ever want to see any changes or something different over here, I take everything you say to heart.

Now let’s all do the Friday dance!

See ya later <3

xoxo

Something to talk about: All-time favorite chocolate bar! If you don’t like chocolate, we can still be friends 😉 What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Omg I love that song! It makes me want to dance! Happy Friday!

  2. lindsey on September 7, 2012 at 11:50 am

haha, that yoga picture made me giggle. SO true! There are just some times that nothing but chocolate will do the trick.

I’ve been in love with Vosge’s Goji Berry and Pink Himalayan Sea Salt bar. It’s milk chocolate, but a deep milk chocolate so it’s really rich. One square with a mid afternoon green tea or yerba mate latte and I’m good to go!

    • Fitnessista on September 7, 2012 at 6:01 pm

love that bar! vosges is the BEST

Love the new blog layout! It looks so organized and fresh……and girly 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 7, 2012 at 6:01 pm

      thank you!

  5. RachelG on September 7, 2012 at 11:53 am

Looking forward to some hardcore house hunting! I will be rereading those posts! 😉

    • Fitnessista on September 7, 2012 at 6:00 pm

      ohhh enjoy!

  6. Joanna on September 7, 2012 at 11:54 am

Green & Blacks & sea salt are my fav 🙂 Checking out a veggie food festival.

  7. Amy on September 7, 2012 at 11:55 am

Liv is so cute in her sunglasses!

I love TJ’s dark chocolate caramel and black sea salt bar, and I always have a bag of dark chocolate Dove Promises on hand…..

my new favorite thing to do though is buy an expensive little box of super fancy chocolates (from a fancy little chocolate shop, not from Walgreens hahaha) and eat one every night after dinner. I was scared I might gorge myself but the price has kept me to 1 little guy per night! It feels so decadent to eat fancy candy out of a cute box 🙂

  8. Quinn on September 7, 2012 at 11:57 am

Bahaha, I laughed out loud at work when you said your ugly cry made you look and sound like a dinosaur. Liv is too cute in those shades

  9. Danielle@cleanfoodcreativefitness on September 7, 2012 at 11:58 am

Happy Friday! Sometimes chocolate bars are just necessary to get through the week! My all time favorite bar is green and blacks milk chocolate!

  10. Niki on September 7, 2012 at 11:59 am

Love the new layout, can someone help me with one thing? I can’t figure out how to get to the previous post when you are reading the current one? I always want to make sure I don’t miss anything 😉

    • Amanda on September 8, 2012 at 1:24 am

I was also going to ask this! Is there a link on each post to get to the next and previous posts?

      • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 3:54 pm

there should be a “previous” and “next” button at the end- is it showing up?

        • Amanda on September 9, 2012 at 6:19 am

Nope, no links anywhere on the page.

  11. Emily on September 7, 2012 at 12:13 pm

I love the workouts but would love to see the monthly calendar come back. It just provides a little motivation for this planner gal! Thanks!

  12. Michelle @ Eat Move Balance on September 7, 2012 at 12:14 pm

    Favorite chocolate: DARK!!! 🙂

  13. Molly on September 7, 2012 at 12:25 pm

My favorite is not really a bar…I love Brooksides Dark Chocolate covered Pomegranate…or the Acai Raspberry. I keep them in the freezer. I am totally addicted.

  14. Sarabell on September 7, 2012 at 12:32 pm

Kind of silly, but I don’t know what brand my favorite chocolate bar is. I get it at Natural Grocers and it has toffee in it, that’s all I know. =0

  15. Brigid on September 7, 2012 at 12:44 pm

My favorite chocolate bar is the Alter Eco Dark Chocolate Quinoa — for realzies. http://shop.alterecofoods.com/Dark-Quinoa-Chocolate–Organic/p/ALT-000042&c=AlterEco@Chocolate It’s crazy, stupid, ridiculously good.

  16. Ali @ WHOLEistically Fit on September 7, 2012 at 12:56 pm

LOL! LOVE the ugly cry description – it literally had me rolling over with laughter 🙂 So good! I’m also a big fan of the endangered species chocolate, though I typically go a bit darker. What can I say, I’m a sucker for the cute animal pics on the packaging + it’s the perfect excuse to have chocolate everyday – I mean, it’s for the animals right? 😉

  17. Jessica C. on September 7, 2012 at 1:25 pm

Oh my goodnes… for something totally unrelated I have had to recently give myself the “don’t ugly cry right now” pep talk! I love your analogy of looking (and sounding) like a dinosaur during an ugly cry session. I am embarassed to say, that is how it is for me too:) And dinosaurs ARE scary

  18. Sana on September 7, 2012 at 1:28 pm

Happy FRIDAY! Enjoy the weekend with your loves 🙂

  19. Tina on September 7, 2012 at 1:32 pm

The Grenada Chocolate Company Organic Dark Chocolate – 82%, and 71% respectively.
Hands down the best chocolate in the universe. Found these gems while studying abroad in Grenada.
OMG. I will never be the same.

Fave choc bar: Lindt Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt – I’ve been known to buy them all when I see them (they’re rare around here) and stock pile them!

What I’m looking forward to this weekend: Girl’s night out and CrossFit!

  21. Laura @ She Eats Well on September 7, 2012 at 1:42 pm

I am open to all chocolate 🙂 but one of my favorites is Divine Dark Chocolate with Mint. It comes in a black and green wrapper, and it is so so good, especially cold!

  22. Jessica W on September 7, 2012 at 1:49 pm

Trader Joes dark chocolate covered almonds with sea salt. TRY to eat just one. Impossible! The dinosaur comment made me lol. I get so mad when people don’t have an ugly cry face, cause mine is awful!!

    • Fitnessista on September 7, 2012 at 6:00 pm

omg i’ve had them. i had to take the bucket away from myself.

  23. Averie @ Averie Cooks on September 7, 2012 at 2:17 pm

The bracelet is so pretty and chocolate bars – I wish I had one of those right about now!

  24. Ellen @ Wannabe Health Nut on September 7, 2012 at 2:18 pm

My favorite chocolate bar is Lindt Dark Chocolate 80% cocoa. It’s so rich that it makes it easier for me to not want to eat the entire bar in a sitting. That’s definitely a bonus. Ohh and I love chocolate from England! I was just in London and I don’t know what they do to their chocolate but it is delicious!

  25. Mallory @ ifgravityhappens on September 7, 2012 at 2:21 pm

I love your comment regarding yoga and chocolate 🙂 it definitely tastes better! your bracelet is way cute too!!!

  26. Cassie on September 7, 2012 at 2:37 pm

    My faves:

The new blog layout!!! It makes your blog so much easier to use as a reference! It’s fun to read what you’re doing from day-to-day, but this makes it great to refer back 🙂

    Liv in sunglasses – adorable!

That little saying about living in the moment or eating cookies 🙂

    Weekend! Have a great one!

  27. Michelle@Peachy Palate on September 7, 2012 at 3:10 pm

Dark chocolate with blueberries, I want me some of that!

  28. Lauren @ The Homeostatic Mindset on September 7, 2012 at 3:24 pm

Haha! Love the cookie meme 🙂 So cute. And umm… I need to get me some dark chocolate with blueberries. That’s cray.

  29. Stellina @ My Yogurt Addiction on September 7, 2012 at 3:34 pm

I love chocolate in ALL forms! Especially dark chocolate! I like to have the organic dark chocolates from Whole Foods because they are small enough so I can “usually” control myself. Otherwise, nothing beats a classic hershey’s bar for me 🙂

  30. Ali @ Peaches and Football on September 7, 2012 at 3:44 pm

Honestly, my favorite chocolate bar is the one that’s right in front of me! I don’t discriminate if I need a fix 🙂 Otherwise we have a local company that makes a m a z i n g chocolate meltaway bars that literally melt in your mouth.

    • Fitnessista on September 7, 2012 at 5:59 pm

same. i love all chocolate 🙂

  31. Meghan @ After the Ivy League on September 7, 2012 at 4:12 pm

Such a cute bracelet from H&M! I’m hoping to get a little shopping done this weekend, need some cute fall clothes! That dark chocolate looks heavenly…having such a craving for it today! I need to go buy some 🙂

  32. sheila on September 7, 2012 at 4:49 pm

hi! i was reading one of your old posts the other day about your post-workout hair routine and was wondering what kind of dry shampoo you use? i’ve bought a few from sally’s but don’t have great luck with them (they’re sticky, leave residue, or just make my hair flat).

    • Fitnessista on September 7, 2012 at 5:58 pm

i love the ojon brand 🙂

  33. Linda on September 7, 2012 at 4:58 pm

I love Salazon dark chocolate with sea salt, I order it online, it’s hard to get in the stores by me.

  34. Eileen on September 7, 2012 at 5:24 pm

Just did your jump rope workout this AM. (3xs thru) Awesome calorie burn. Thank you!

  35. Lindsay on September 7, 2012 at 5:30 pm

I made your baked zucchini sticks twice this week (and told enough people about them that I now know the word zucchini has double Cs, not double Ns) because they are SO DELICIOUS! I served them with marinara both times and even my brother who hates basically anything but McDonalds said they were good. So thanks for that!

One question though… is there any special trick to helping the rice crumbs stick? Or keeping the rice crumbs from forming big sticky blobs while you’re making them? I ended up making about 3x as much of the mixture as I needed because the egg kept making it stick together in my little breading pan. It helped a little to sprinkle the crumbs on instead of just dipping the egg coated zucchini in it but that was slightly more labor intensive. Hopefully that makes sense…

  36. Kari on September 7, 2012 at 7:40 pm

I love the new blog design! Its so easy to find the workouts and playlists and everything really.
Tried the Amazeballs and they are AMAZEBALLS!
Thanks for the awesome workouts and daily entertainment!

I’m looking forward to some sun and relaxation… I live in Vancouver, BC and it rains here A LOT! this weekend looks amazing so i’m hoping to take advantage of it before its gone for the winter 🙁

  39. Amy on September 7, 2012 at 9:08 pm

Something else to add to the list…. have you seen the new lara bar flavors yet (I’ve only seen them at Whole Foods)? Pineapple upside-down cake and orange float! Both are amazing, but I think the pineapple one might be my new favorite!

  40. Natalie @ FreshLifeFindings on September 7, 2012 at 9:09 pm

Those sunglasses are so cute on her! Love it. And I need a coconut chocolate bar right about now 🙂

  41. Leslie W on September 7, 2012 at 9:14 pm

    Baby sunglasses are too cute!

    Choco Love!

  44. Lauren on September 7, 2012 at 11:50 pm

Not sure that I have a favorite chocolate bar…but, I definitely LOVE dark chocolate best. I also think I have spread my love of dark chocolate to my 3 year old son… 🙂

  45. Anne on September 8, 2012 at 7:18 am

My favorite chocolate is Cabury milk chocolate from England. They make it a bit different over there and it is sooooo good!

When my family visited last spring, all they brought me back was literally the largest chocolate bar you have ever seen, it’s literally three feet! What a great fam 🙂

  46. Chelsa on September 8, 2012 at 9:32 am

Liv is adorable in her new shades. My all time favorite chocolate bar is the salted almond taza chocolate.

  47. Tamar on September 8, 2012 at 6:24 pm

Oh, just clicked to your website from google reader for the first time since the redesign– its looks soo good! My fair chocolate is Theo’s 85%. I love super dark, but sometimes it’s chalky. This one is sooo creamy…and it’s organic and fair trade!

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 10:38 pm
