A Day Off

Heyyyyy 🙂 How are you? Hope you’re having a great night!

My day off was pretty much everything I could wish for…

Shopping:

mall

(Shopping tip of the day: I always go into Forever 21 FIRST and plan out which items I should splurge or save on. Usually I see accessories, trendy purses, tops, at Forever 21 and they’ll have the exact same kinda things at department and designer stores. It helps me to decide what’s worth it, what I’ll use again and what I only want for this season)

As much as I LOVE this season’s fashions (lace, florals, military-inspired), I didn’t find any clothes today. I went to Forever 21, H&M, Nordstrom, bebe and Dillard’s and there was nothin’. I did, however, find a few things at that one store I can never walk away empty-handed from:

sephora

Philosophy holiday body washes, lotions and lip gloss?

Don’t mind if I do 😉

And then I somehow found myself at this place:

menchie's

MENCHIE’S!!!!

MMMEEEENNNNNCCHHHIIIEEEEEE’SSSSSS!

menchies

It was a fro-yo kinda day 😉

I got a vegan pineapple with strawberries and chocolate syrup 🙂

After fro-yo, I took a litte nap, went to Dance Trance (and booty-shook with Katy!), and wore my heart rate monitor for curiosity sake. I burned 450 cals, which is awesome for an hour dance class! I’d much rather do that than teeter on the treadmill any day 😉

For dinner, the fam and I went to Olive Garden, which I haven’t had in FOREVERRRRRRRRR

wine

salad

Their soup and salad make the world a better place.

salad (2) soup

I also got a side of grilled shrimpies:

Can you believe Valdizzy doesn’t have an Olive Garden? I was pretty shocked when we moved there and couldn’t get my soup and salad fix 😉 My nana and I used to have soup and salad every Wednesday for lunch- I missed it!

Lesson of the story: Never take Olive Garden for granted.

See ya in the morning <3

I spent pretty lil penny at Sephora today too!!! Ever been to an Ulta?? Imagine Walgreens beauty section, Sephora and Trade Secret all rolled up into one fantastic store. Love those ones!

  12. Tyler on October 17, 2010 at 11:13 pm

They just broke ground for an Olive Garden up here in NY. Seriously pray you don’t get stuck at Fort Drum.

  13. holly @ couchpotatoathlete on October 17, 2010 at 11:43 pm

OG has the best soup/salad meal. I can’t believe you didn’t have a breadstick — I just can’t say no!

I’m not much of a shopper, but when I DO go, I go all day long at Mall of America 🙂

  14. Joslyn (missfitbliss) on October 17, 2010 at 11:43 pm

I used to live off of Olive Garden’s Salad and breadsticks. One visit me and my 2 sisters ate so many breadsticks, the chef came out to meet us because he wanted to know who was mowing down all the rolls. Embarrassing but hilarious.

  15. hippierunner on October 18, 2010 at 12:13 am

Ooh, I love H&M. So does my boyfriend because he’s Swedish lol. So they’re cut from the same cloth! 😉

  16. Mama Pea on October 18, 2010 at 12:24 am

I’ve never been to Sephora. Is there one in San Fran? 🙂

  17. Stefanie @thenewhealthy on October 18, 2010 at 1:26 am

I love Olive Garden too! There is ALWAYS (no matter time of day) a long wait at the closest one to me! So if we’re super hungry, we usually pass it up!

  18. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on October 18, 2010 at 5:33 am

Sephora is a way to relieve myself of mad cash, quickly. Glad you had fun in there!

Bebe, H&M, F21, Nord. Are you kidding you bought NOTHING??!!! I am in shock b/c I was just at the mall here last week and walked in to the MAC store for a few things and then seriously just walked in for a hot second to Nord and it was like bam, major money spent. F21 is always a way to blow cash too…girl, I am majorly impressed you didnt buy a thing. It’s always when I WANT to spend that I dont find anything Im loving but when I am trying to browse, that’s when i see 17 cute things I “must” have 🙂

  19. Matt on October 18, 2010 at 6:35 am

I haven’t been to Olive Garden in years. I need to fix that stat.

  20. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on October 18, 2010 at 6:41 am

I used to love Olive Garden’s soup and salad! Haven’t been there forever!

  21. Lauren on October 18, 2010 at 6:43 am

I hate when I actually set out to shop and then can’t find anything. Doesn’t it always seem that you find the best deals whenever you aren’t really looking?

I haven’t been to OG in ages!! It used to be the “fancy” place to go on a date when I was in high school. Come to think of it, I think that is where hubby and I had our first date. LoL, We are obviously do much more classy now and only dine at fine establishments. Chipotle does have real silverware so that counts right? 😉

  22. Cynthia on October 18, 2010 at 6:51 am

Mmm . . . love Olive Garden! I haven’t had it in forever either. Their salads and breadsticks are awesome. Looks delicious.

  23. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on October 18, 2010 at 7:32 am

Haha, I had the same shopping experience this weekend! I went in Topshop, Express, Zara, J.Crew and Forever and all I bought was some makeup at Sephora. Although it wasn’t cheap, so it’s probably good that I was able to control myself!

Hope you have a great start to your week!

  24. Cyndi @ Weightless Life on October 18, 2010 at 7:49 am

That sounds like an awesome day off. And I never take Olive Garden for granted, especially since the husband doesn’t like it and I practically have to beg to get him to go there.

  25. Felicia (A taste of Health with Balance) on October 18, 2010 at 8:27 am

gina! ive been searching for mung bean pasta everywhere and i cant find it! where do you buy it?!

    • Fitnessista on October 18, 2010 at 12:00 pm

      whole foods 🙂

  26. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on October 18, 2010 at 8:33 am

Looks like a great day! I used to go to the Olive Garden all the time when I lived in Alberta but sadly there are none in Ontario (well, that I know of anyway!) We do, however, have Forever 21 and Sephora and I love them both! 🙂

  27. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on October 18, 2010 at 8:38 am

My husband hates Sephora because I can wander around in there for hours. I think time stops for me when I enter the store.

And I can always find a gazillion things I like at J.Crew. If only I could afford them…

  28. RhodeyGirl on October 18, 2010 at 8:48 am

I am going to the King of Prussia mall on Saturday before it opens for a Nordstrom MAKEUP fashion show followed by makeup applications by famous makeup artists. A bunch of girls are going and I wish you were in Philly to come with us!!! I am getting my makeup done at Bobbi Brown- hopefully I will finally learn how to put on makeup!

  29. Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun on October 18, 2010 at 8:52 am

I’ve never been a big Olive Garden fan, but their soup and salad is good. I always get that option if people I’m dining with insist we go there. Like my husband’s family.

Glad you had a great day!

  30. Mary @ Bites and Bliss on October 18, 2010 at 9:23 am

    Every day’s a fro-yo kind of day 😉

    • Fitnessista on October 18, 2010 at 12:00 pm

      totally agree 🙂

  31. stacy hanson on October 18, 2010 at 9:58 am

I went to Olive Garden yesterday for lunch too, and it looks like we ordered the same thing lol

  32. Shanna @ Shanna LIke Banana on October 18, 2010 at 10:35 am

I do the same thing while shopping..look for cheap stuff and figure out what I can get and then get the ‘staples’ at more expensive stores.

I actually like Olive Garden..my hubby thinks I’m weird ;-P

  33. Paige (Running Around Normal) on October 18, 2010 at 11:31 am

Love Sephora:) We just got an Ulta here in Blo/No and it’s almost as awesome. Almost 😉 Great day off!

  34. Rachel on October 18, 2010 at 11:41 am

    Hey Gina!

Real quick question…hopefully. I’ve been studying to be a PT and went to a class. Part of the class was on Nutrition. I became aware how much animal, in particular meat protein i consume. So I’m wanting to go more Vegetarian in my food choices. Do you have a Vegetarian 101 type post? If not maybe a future readers request? I did venture in to Whole Food for the hot bar…OMG yum yum! Thanks!

  35. Clare @ Fitting It All In on October 18, 2010 at 11:42 am

That’s crazy that you burned that many calories in a dance class! You must be WORKING it! I always think that I’d never really be moving quite that much…but I guess I should try it out:)

  36. Heather (Heather's Dish) on October 18, 2010 at 1:11 pm

i adore olive garden – it makes my heart happy 🙂

  37. Shelby on October 18, 2010 at 3:36 pm

I just went on the Menchie’s website and found out they’re opening a location near me! I had no idea there was even such a thing as a vegan fro-yo place!!!

    • Fitnessista on October 18, 2010 at 3:42 pm

vegan fro yo changed the world forever 🙂 you’ll love menchies!

  38. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on October 18, 2010 at 7:25 pm

I went to Olive Garden for the first time on a day trip to the US in September. I love the unlimited salad that comes with the pasta! 😀

  39. Katie on October 20, 2010 at 7:49 am

Oh man. I’ve been avoiding sephora.com lately because I just can’t resist the Philosophy holiday stuff.

Your Olive Garden food looks sooo good. I never go there because my husband doesn’t really like it. Weirdo. 🙂 Maybe I’ll treat myself to lunch there sometime soon.
