Acai what you did there

Hiiiii 🙂 How’s the morning going? Hope you’re enjoying the day and that those of you who are off today are enjoying the long weekend. It’s still wicked hot here, and I told the Pilot that my dream would be to spend the afternoon floating on a pizza raft

Sunset

(Last night’s sunset was not too shabby)

Some of the highlights from the weekend:

Shopping with Liv

Shopping w liv

(We were in baby gap and she said, “Take a picture of me. This is my best friend!” haha. We got another pair of the shoes she’s wearing, plus these sneaks and a couple of cute tops since everything is on sale for Columbus Day.)

Liv had ballet, and we went to breakfast at Cafe 976:

Acai what you did there

(I got the acai bowl, which was EVERYTHING, and a decaf almond milk latte + 2 scrambled eggs. I’d have to say on my “best acai bowls in San Diego” list that I’m working on -it’s a tough job trying acai bowls everywhere you go haha- it’s ranked number 5. Top spot goes to Tiki Port, followed by Cafe on the Bay, Nekter Juice Bar, Juice Crafters and then Cafe 976.)

Kicking the soccer ball + a stop at the ice cream truck:

Livi soccer and ice cream

(every time we hear the ice cream truck, the Pilot and I joke to each other that it’s out of ice cream)

and the weekend also involved some Thai takeout (Suppannee House is AMAZING)

football and errands. We also ventured to Belmont Park last night for the usual adventures: carousel, games, and a churro for the Livster.

Workout-wise, I got in a TRX and walking combo, an off day, and a long walk day. I finally lost that “hamster on a wheel” feeling about the dreadmill since I’ve been doing it so often, and the time goes by surprisingly fast. I’ve been reading via the Osyter app on my phone (currently sucked into Beautiful Ruins) or watching TV while I walk. Kardashians, random movies (He’s Just Not That Into You) and HGTV have gotten me through.

I also love that noodle is really into riding her scooter right now. She asks to ride it all the time, and is an easy way for me to get in some extra activity during the day.

Check out these skills:

Hope you have a wonderful morning <3

I’ll see ya later today on the Family page with pics from the baby’s nursery. 🙂
xoxo

Liv is too funny! I used to hate the treadmill, but then when I hurt my knee and had a gym membership, I fell in love with reading on the treadmill and trashy tv 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 12, 2015 at 4:22 pm

it makes the time go by so much faster!

He’s Just Not That Into You = so good.

I am currently watching Gilmore Girls whenever I’m doing mindless tasks (hello cleaning the house!). I’ve taken to walking quickly on an inclined treadmill at the gym lately as a way to start my day, and I much prefer taking a book along and reading it while I walk compared to watching TV (for some reason I’ve never really gotten into watching shows while exercising. It’s always books, music, or nothing. No idea why!)

These little pleasures in life are important 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 12, 2015 at 4:21 pm

i still haven’t seen gilmore girls!

It’s crazy how many Acai places there are in SD. I live in Glendale in Phoenix and there’s not a single Acai, smoothie, juice bar place. Yet if you go to Scottsdale they are all over. I don’t get it. I’ve often thought about opening one especially with Westgate and the baseball spring training nearby.

    • Fitnessista on October 12, 2015 at 4:21 pm

i would get on that! you could have the first one 🙂

  6. Julie on October 12, 2015 at 8:50 am

Liv’s pic w/ her “best friend” cracked me up. It’s super cute how you & Tom’s personalities shine thru in her. (I’m make a bit of an assumption there since I don’t know you 2 personally, but it’s not too much of a stretch since I’ve seen several cheesy photos of you guys hammin’ it up on the blog.) 😛

    • Fitnessista on October 12, 2015 at 4:20 pm

thank you! she’s definitely a mix of both of us… and a cheeser 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 12, 2015 at 4:19 pm

In my experience, after bloggers have baby #2 they tend to drop off the face of the earth. Do you anticipate that you’ll take any time off blogging or reduce your posting? Just wondering because your blog is one of my faves.

    • Fitnessista on October 12, 2015 at 4:18 pm

      thank you so much! <3
i noticed that, too. selfishly it makes me sad because i love their blogs, but at the same time, i get it. things are crazy with one kid, so i can imagine it's crazier with two 🙂 my goal is to keep things as *normal* as possible around here. depending on when the baby is born, the blog may go dark for a couple of days. i have posts ready to go after we're home from the hospital, so i can take a break but there will still be fun and useful content going up. after that, the tentative plan for now is to post at least once mon-fri, twice if i have more to say that day or having a family or sponsored/giveaway post going up.

One of my friend’s daughters (close to Liv’s age) is obsessed with having her picture taken with mannequins whenever they go shopping—too funny!

    • Fitnessista on October 12, 2015 at 4:15 pm

haha liv does the same thing! she loves them!

  11. Tracy on October 12, 2015 at 11:34 am

You’re doing so great keeping up with your workouts!! Hang in there! Can’t believe baby’s birthday is so close!! 🙂 Saying prayers for you!

  12. Liz on October 12, 2015 at 12:24 pm

Last summer I tried so hard to get into Beautiful Ruins and just could not! I gave up on it, which I never do, and it’s been sitting on my bookshelf ever since. Sounds like you are not having the same experience!

    • Fitnessista on October 12, 2015 at 4:15 pm

ohh i’m loving it so far! the writing took a second for me to get used to, but i’m really enjoying the book

I was always too scared to scooter when I was a child. That and pogo sticks. Hopefully I have a more adventurous child someday! 😉

I can’t believe how big your noodle is these days! She’s so cute and sporty on that scooter!
I wish we had a good Acai Bowl place nearby, but it’s slim pickings. The good news I keep the freezer well stocked with Acai. 😉

  18. Laura B @ FitMamaLove on October 13, 2015 at 8:57 pm

We have been having the most amazing sunsets up here lately! I can’t get over how big girl Livi looks these days!

    • Fitnessista on October 13, 2015 at 9:53 pm

      right?! how did it happen??

  19. Tracey on October 15, 2015 at 1:35 pm

I loved your list of favorite acai bowls places…Tiki Port is one of my faves too! It’s a treat if I have time to run into OB to grab one at lunch. Have you tried the Northside Shack on Rosecrans in Point Loma? It became another favorite of mine for bowls and juices and I can walk there from work, which is dangerous too! I want to check out the other ones you have listed, I drive by Cafe by the Bay every morning but always afraid I won’t have time for one. Thanks for sharing them! Tracey

    • Fitnessista on October 15, 2015 at 10:20 pm

yes, i have! i LOVED it! their base is more like a sorbet, and i love that they add so many different fruits.
definitely try cafe by the bay!
