All over the place

It’s Friday!! Thank goodness 🙂

I’m so glad you liked the February list! I’ll also be posting the Schweaty February Workout on Monday as part of the last week of Winter Shape Up workouts.

You guys inspired me with your comments, so I decided to go through the intimidating mail pile.

I got distracted midway through:

zin

New Zumba music! Yes, please.

So remember when I cooked dinner and made oaties in the same day this week?

Well there hasn’t been much kitchen productivity since then. Meals are still all over the place, and I figured that if I can make 2 legit dinners next week and build on from there, that will be bueno.

We ordered takeout last night, and before bed I enjoyed my first egg and jelly combo:

egg and jelly

(Thanks to Julie for planting the seed in my brain)

2 eggs atop a Van’s waffle with a small salad for some veggies

I’ve also been lacking in the veggies this week, so one of my goals will be to chop and steam some on Sunday, so they’ll be ready to grab and eat throughout next week.

Avocados,  greens and fruit and have been pretty easy, since they’re low maintenance, and this has been a frequent combo over here:

snack plate2

toast, greens with Goddess dressing, chicken, 2 eggs

and 1/2 an avocado

snack plate

So good 🙂

Anything fun going on this weekend? We have Liv’s newborn photos tomorrow and brunch at my nana’s on Sunday. I can taste the egg casserole already…

Monday, I’ll find out if I’m cleared to resume normal physical activity. I’m hoping everything looks good to go and am excited to get back into doing the things I love so much. Of course, I’ll have to take it slowly since I’m still recovering, but a Monday night gentle yoga class sounds incredible right now.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

xoxo

Gina

I’ll gladly take a nap thanks! 😉 Have a great time at the photo shoot for Olivia.. I bet they’ll turn out amazing because she is so cute! This weekend I’ve got a friend date with one of my besties (Whole Foods and Lululemon – perfect if you ask me!) and lunch and a play with my mum. Have a great night Gina!

  7. Britta on February 3, 2012 at 4:33 pm

I had my first egg-and-jelly combo recently, too! and mine was also thanks to Julie! Did you love it? I think I just like more excuses to eat eggs… 🙂

PS – loving all of your posts lately. Liv is the cutest baby EVER and I am loving watching your family’s story unfold <3

    • Fitnessista on February 3, 2012 at 4:51 pm

      thank you, britta!

You’re doing great Gina! It takes time to get back into the swing of things and back to “normal”. Cooking was so low on my priority list after my son was born – I lived off slow cooker meals that I’d prepare on a Sunday when my husband was home to watch over our son while I cooked. At least you are getting in some fresh, delicious & nutritious foods where you can. Have a nice weekend!

If you liked jelly and eggs you should try a cup of fresh blueberries under two fried eggs cooked in coconut oil – delicious!!

Hope you post the newborn photos of Livi, but only if you want to!

I am doing Zumba for the first time this Sunday. I’m excited because you make it seem like so much fun and any time they have a Zumba class going on at our gym just hearing the music makes me want to dance. Is it OK to use running shoes or cross trainers for Zumba? Are aerobic shoes best? I am a bit of a klutz when it comes to anything dance related so I figure I at least need to make sure I have the safest shoes. Thanks in advance.

Love the proverb in “Something to Think About”. I don’t think I should count on happiness for a year anytime soon … 🙂

34 weeks and baby shower tomorrow! 🙂 Also, an early morning tour of the hospital… it’s going to be a busy baby type of day <3

I'm hoping you might later post some post-pregnancy workout tips on here? 😉 🙂 please please please, my baby will be here in March! I love reading your blog (it's the only one I read). And I will seriously need to get back into shape after delivering ^_^

After seeing pictures of Julie’s jam + egg combos over and over, I finally got on the bandwagon last month. I can easily say I put jam on all of my breakfast sandwiches now lol.

  17. Jenny @ simply be me on February 3, 2012 at 5:48 pm

I never really understood the egg & jam combo – is it good? Eggs have been a staple over here too, so quick, so easy, so good 🙂 Have a fun time at the newborn shoot!

  18. Laura Jane @ Recovering Chocoholic on February 3, 2012 at 6:05 pm

Never try the egg and jam. Sounds interesting. I eat eggs all the time – great cheap, source of protein. I also love jam, but together?

  19. Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs on February 3, 2012 at 7:33 pm

Ooooh, I love newborn photo shoots! Have a great weekend, and good luck with the doc on Monday — I bet the new Zumba music has you itching to get moving 🙂

  20. ash on February 3, 2012 at 7:55 pm

love it and can’t wait to see some of the newborn photos if you share them online!

  21. Michelle (Better with Berries) on February 3, 2012 at 7:57 pm

Have fun and good luck with the photo shoot! I helped a friend with a newborn photo shoot last weekend – the little guy slept through the whole thing 🙂

  22. Courtney on February 3, 2012 at 10:07 pm

Vans & an Egg! That’s the way to go! 🙂

  23. Ali on February 3, 2012 at 10:08 pm

Haha, I think you are doing amazing considering you JUST GAVE BIRTH.

  24. ashley on February 3, 2012 at 10:44 pm

I love egg n jelly! Egg and maple syrup is also good.

  25. Dominique on February 4, 2012 at 12:25 am

I’d never had egg, waffles and jelly before. It seems like an intriguing combo. Your chicken, eggs and avocado also looks fantastic. I’m going to have to try that over some greens sometime this week. I love avocado but over here they’re always so expensive and so unripe.

  26. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on February 4, 2012 at 1:15 am

Hope you get the green light to resume activity; just even doing really light exercise can do wonders for the mind and spirit over and beyond the physical part.

I used to put syrup and jelly on my eggs as a kid. Fun memories 🙂

  27. Alicia A. on February 4, 2012 at 11:43 am

Eggs and jelly sounds a bit crazy! I juts got a recipe this week to bake an egg in and avocado. Looks awesome but that makes me leery too. But when the pickings are slim and I need to go to the store, eggs & jelly sound like a perfect combo.

  28. Life's a Bowl on February 5, 2012 at 8:11 am

Sweet + salty/ savory is my fave! Goat cheese with jelly is also a great combo 😀
