all things good

Hi friends! Hope you’ve had a wonderful day. Thank you so much for the beautiful birthday wishes! It was a perfect day spent with everyone I love so much.

Madre came over to the house this morning and cut my hair, which was a special treat. I was going to stop by her salon with Livi sometime today, but she told me she had the day off. “What?! Why?” “It’s my daughter’s birthday!” Technically, I think of it as her birthday, as she’s the one who went through a tumultuous labor to have me C-sectioned out. Apparently I was too happy in my comfy waterbed.

Now, it’s time for some California adventures!

After my last experience on a plane, I’m not really stoked to be flying again, but excited to get there! Hopefully the flight is quick and uneventful…

See ya there!

Any San Francisco recommendations to share? I absolutely love Cafe Gratitude!

What do you like more: the cake or the frosting? I’m a frosting girl, all the way.

Gina – we should celebrate our birthdays together! Mine was last week and I vote CAKE. I’ve never liked frosting except: the kind on good carrot cake or whipped cream frosting. Frosting ruins good cake! LOL

So glad you had such a great birthday! Sounds like the perfect day. 🙂

Ohhh I just LOVE San Fran! Ghiradelli Square is obviously a must and I also love Boudin’s for their sourdough bread bowl and clam chowder!

Gracias Madre! It was started by the Cafe Gratitude folks and is the best Mexican I’ve ever had! That may be a stretch for you but it’ll be unique, anyway. Enjoy SF!

I love the Ferry Building in SF. The fruit at Frog Hollow Farms alone is worth the trip. They also have great breakfast and coffee, though I don’t know if they have an alternative to cow’s milk. Have fun!

    good luck flying!

the ferry building is awesome. there are a lot of great restaurants there. we ate at the Mexican place in the back of the building and it was very good. if you like jewish deli this is a hipster jewish deli but its very good Wise Sons Jewish Deli (lunch) 3150 24th St San Francisco, CA 94110 and then we went to Bi-Rite Market 9-9 3639 18th SF for ice cream they also have an ice cream shop at 550 Divisadero St, SF

    have a great trip!

When I fly into SF, my first stop is always Slanted Door at the Ferry Building for amazing Vietnamese. If I’m in a hurry, I’ll do the “Out the Door” takeout.

San Fran is my fave place ever! Alioto’s is SO yummy! The Cliff House restaurant is very cool, too. Hiking in Muir Woods & biking across the Golden Gate bridge were 2 of our fave things we did while there. Liv might enjoy Golden Gate park. Have a great trip!

blessed to be a SF resident; would love to bump into you! Plant Cafe and Blue Barn located in the Marina area are both phenomenal spots (preferably for lunch after a nice run on the marina green). If you want to dial it up a notch, A16 or Delarosa in Marina are SO fun and delicious Italian (hubs and I spetn honeymoon in Italy and agreed these restaurants rep as well if not better than most pizzerias over there). Zero Zero in SOMA is another good Italian joint. Le Colonial is a hidden gem Vietnamese oasis near Union Square (upscale, amazing cocktails, beautiful French-Colonial architecture). Have so much fun in this gorgeous city!

Visit the Rodin Museum in San Francisco! I don’t love art very much, but I really enjoyed the museum. That could have been because I drove there in a Go Kart (tiny yellow fake car you can rent to be a tourist).

Amazing times in San Francisco (I also happened to find a bar with a slide in it – it was later featured on some travel show). There is nothing like going down a slide after a day driving around in a Go Kart and randomly finding the best Rodin Museum in the world.
