Art of House Persuasion

Hey hey 😀 How are you? Hope you’ve had a lovely day! Thank you so much for your sweet words about the job sitch. It’s not usually fun when things change unexpectedly –especially when you’re Type A- but I’m that it will all work out. PS. Loved your “put the lemons in your bra” quote- cracked me up 🙂

We spent a majority of our day looking at houses:

house

kitchen

bathroom

kitchen (2)

Oh hey 🙂

powder room

(That house had TWO walk-in closets for the master bedroom. And was also way out of our budget. Haha)

Per your persuasion tips, I suggested some houses that are TOTALLY wrong, just to make the one I love look more appealing 😉 I think it may be working?

Since we passed by Frost, which is a lovely gelato place, we decided to make a little stop during our house hunt.

pilot

Stracciatella for the Pilot in a waffle cone

and strawberry-champagne sorbet for me 🙂

sorbet

SOOOO delish.

sorbet (2)

We looked at a few more houses, stopped at home to grab a snack:

snack

(Spicy hummus on brown rice toast for me, grilled goat cheese and prosciutto sandwich for him)

and then met with some friends to see the MJ show at Breakout.

cameron

It was just as awesome as the last one 🙂

It’s dinnertime over here, and I’m going to work on blog ideas for this week (recipes, workouts, new playlist). We’re most likely going to do our little Q&A video tomorrow, so if you have any questions you’d like to add, please let us know *here*.

Have a great night and I’ll see ya bright and early <3

xoxo

Wowwww that house looked gorgeous!! But I think I’m more in love with your sorbet…especially with the little wafer cookie. Aren’t those little teeny spoons the BEST? I wish I could buy them in bulk and attempt to eat my daily yogurt with ’em. 😉

    • Fitnessista on March 27, 2011 at 10:01 pm

yes, i love them! maybe we could order a bulk thing online and split it? 🙂

strawberry champagne sorbet sounds amazing! I used to love going house hunting and imagining my life in each house. I even used to draw up floor plans of where I would put everything in my room if we moved there! Have a good night 🙂

  7. Holly @ The Runny Egg on March 27, 2011 at 10:02 pm

  14. Cara Craves... on March 27, 2011 at 10:32 pm

That house is ginormous! The kitchen especially.

  15. Emma (Namaste Everyday) on March 27, 2011 at 10:54 pm

PLEASE let me know how you don’t overeat when you are with the Pilot! I feel like he’d eat a LOT lol my friend has that problem with her partner. He’s a machine.

  16. Kayla on March 27, 2011 at 10:57 pm

    2 walk in closets? swoon.
And I love Ruby. Such a great song.

  17. Laura (On the Threshold of Greatness) on March 27, 2011 at 10:59 pm

I love that quote! I know Oprah always says of her show that it’s the experience people remember, not the things they get! Sooo true!

I’m jealous of the Tucson sunshine! 🙂

    Good luck house hunting!

  18. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on March 27, 2011 at 11:00 pm

the houses look awesome!! Why is it that houses that are out of one’s budget, even my 25k or so or whatever that magic dollar amount is, just any amount over what you’re supposed to be spending or can afford to spend…they always look SO MUCH better! At least that is my history with house hunting 🙂

Glad to know your strategy is working. And basically, I would just tell Pilot that you are the Queen of the House, and if the Queen isnt happy and doesnt get what she wants, it will be a very unhappy house to live in. The expression, if Mama Aint Happy, Ain’t No One Happy. That comes to mind. With houses, I always get my way or Scott knows he will be miserable living with me who will be miserable. God I sound like such a diva. Promise, Im not 🙂

  19. Nina on March 27, 2011 at 11:02 pm

Gina, I’m really lovin’ the recent posts of the Pilot’s eats! As long as the Pilot doesn’t mind, you have (at least) one fan right here!

  20. Stacy @ LoveDiscoveryGratitude on March 27, 2011 at 11:02 pm

Good lord that house looks awesome! I can’t wait until I can buy any house one day! lol 🙂

  21. Lauren on March 28, 2011 at 12:46 am

Could you give a list of exercises to strengthen arms? Or if you have already done something like this, could you direct me to it? Haha

  22. Karina on March 28, 2011 at 12:48 am

yes, we get it – you have a lot of money and can afford a nice house 😉

  23. justine on March 28, 2011 at 3:21 am

I read in Women’s Health magazine this month that, apparently, the best time of day to impress your will upon a man is 3pm. Don’t ask me how or why this time has been determined, but there we are – worth adding to your arsenal of tactics if all else fails?!

  24. The Teenage Taste on March 28, 2011 at 7:15 am

Hope all goes well with the house hunting! That kitchen looks beautiful! I wish I had a kitchen like that! 😛

  25. Katie on March 28, 2011 at 7:24 am

Ummmmmm 2 huge walk in closets?! Heaven! I would love for one to day to have a house with that! A walk in closet is just as important as a huge kitchen to me ; ) ok maybe the closet is the top priority ; ) lol

Yay for more house hunting fun , and I hope you guys pick one soon!

I love gelato! Yummy! Your sorbet looks amazing, and little spoons make it more fun! I use a little spoon everyday ; ) I just love them!

    <3 xoxo

two walk in closets, can I have that one instead?!?!

  27. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on March 28, 2011 at 8:05 am

Gorgeous houses! I’d be in my element with 2 walk in closets. One for spring and summer, and one for fall/winter… or maybe one for tops and one for bottoms… good job I’m single because I don’t know where a significant other would put his stuff! 🙂

  28. Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries on March 28, 2011 at 8:37 am

Two walk in closets?! That sounds marvelous 🙂 I’m glad your art of persuasion is working 😉 I’m so excited to see what house you two end up with. Happy hunting!

Two walk in closets would be a dream. When my boyfriend and I travel we rent huge homes that are much bigger ours and they are always so extravagant… wish we could live in one. Good luck on the house hunt.

  33. CathyK on March 28, 2011 at 10:16 am

good luck with the house hunting, gina! the pilot will come round, just you wait and see! 🙂
THANK YOU for the quote from maya angelou. this meant so much to me, today. i reprinted it on my blog (crediting back to your blog) because i saw evidence of this wisdom in my own life, this weekend. great choice of wise words for a monday morning!

  34. Katherine: Unemployed on March 28, 2011 at 10:45 am

maya is so right! she’s terribly wise. also, I don’t know when/if you changed your hair but the color is looking great on you

  35. Sylvia on March 28, 2011 at 10:53 am

What does he not like about your favourite house?

If you can’t persuade him, I’m sure there is something out there that you will both love! But don’t compromise and go with something you don’t love.

    • Fitnessista on March 28, 2011 at 11:48 am

it’s an older style and he wants something more contemporary, and it also doesn’t have a pool

    For your Q+A:

    1) You’ve mentioned work quite a lot and you’ve talked about “work stuff” issues. We know your a PT and you do Dance Trance, but what other job are you referring to?

    2) You have some sort of housing in Valdosta, something for yourself in AZ, and now you’re looking to buy a third house? So confused.

    • Fitnessista on March 28, 2011 at 12:40 pm

we moved out of our condo in valdosta before the pilot deployed, so we don’t have a house there anyore. i’m renting a townhouse with some roomies until the pilot officially moves here in the summer. technically we’re still stationed in valdosta and are going to be officially transferring soon
i’m actually not working as a PT right now because i had another job, since i put in my two weeks, i’m looking for something new.
