“Baby, it’s cold outside” workout

I don’t think Bell has a problem with her sporadic walking schedule since the weather has changed. We still play around the house to get the crazies out:

she’s a fetch pro

yesterday, we chased around the yard

bell (2)

(she went into full on sprint mode! see the dirty paws?)

and today, we snuggled on the couch to watch Glee.

bell1

I think she’s been cold lately, too. Might be time to bust out the winter coats she loves so dearly 😉

Work was great today. We practiced our dance for the dance show during lunch, and I LOVE it- it’s 6 minutes long, too, which is no joke. I’m bummed that next week is my last full week until after the baby is born. So I don’t miss the girls at work too much, I’ll go hang out and take classes in the meantime.

Some eats:

Standard two eggs, salsa and brown rice tortilla

egg

Beautiful persimmon

My favorite trail mix

(I don’t know what’s wrong with this bag- it has hardly any chocolate chips in it. I have no idea why this may be….)

Salad with beets, greens, walnut oil (this is AMAZING on salads!), balsamic, goat gouda

salad

and a bowl of goat’s milk yogurt mixed with almond butter and Sun Warrior, topped with brown rice cereal.

Continuing my make-real-dinner streak, I just got some in the oven and am about to do a little yoga podcast. I’m in the mood to streeeeeetch.

Hope you have a great night <3

xoxo

Do you have a Mellow Mushroom? We went there for lunch today and I thought of you when I saw their salads. They’re huge! And they have so many options!

    • Fitnessista on December 7, 2011 at 9:19 pm

Ah perfect timing, I was just looking for a 20-25 min cross training workout!
Trader Joe’s trek mix = the best ever. The chocolate usually gets eaten by itself.

  5. Laury @ thefitnessdish on December 7, 2011 at 9:27 pm

Loooove walnut oil! I snuggled with Ella on my break today and watched a half episode of GLEE too!

  6. Kaila @healthyhelperblog! on December 7, 2011 at 9:42 pm

I think it is so awesome that you have continued teaching this long! The people taking your classes must find you so inspiring!!! And I agree…walnut oil is delicious on salads! Especially with spinach and oranges!!

  7. kara on December 7, 2011 at 9:43 pm

it’s so nice to hear that you love work so much and that you’ll miss everyone that much when you’re not teaching/full time. that’s really, really good for you.
i always imagine persimmons taste like tomatoes.. do they??

    • Jill on December 7, 2011 at 10:06 pm

I was thinking the exact same thing about persimmons! I feel like it would be eating a raw tomato.

  8. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on December 7, 2011 at 9:52 pm

Bella looks so cute snuggled into your leg! I love when my puppies sit with me like that on the couch! Oh and that salad looks amazing, I love goat gouda!

  11. Jenn on December 7, 2011 at 10:01 pm

Hi Gina, its Jenn again! I hope you had a great day. 🙂
I’m here to tell you my progress on increasing calorie intake. I tried your smoothie tip, I feel a lot more energized yesterday for my turbofire workout. 🙂 Today I tried to snack some solid food (protein bar and hummus with veggies) and feel a little stuffed still. So I think I need to stick with smoothies a little longer until my tummy get used to it. Thanks again and have a great night
btw, do you know that persimmon represents affluence and prosperity in Chinese? hehehe since I am chinese, just wanna let you know. Have a lovely night

  14. Katie on December 7, 2011 at 10:31 pm

I’m liking the snowman mug… very nice, indeed. The most recent Glee episode was oh-so-wonderful. Loved it.

  15. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on December 7, 2011 at 10:41 pm

Great workout ideas and oh, did the chocolate chip thief monster go and raid that bag? That sometimes has been known to happen for me, too. Wonder how that works…

    🙂

  16. esmemerrie on December 7, 2011 at 11:11 pm

Ba! I LOVE that song! so freaking adorable! “I ought to say no, no closer… at least I’m gonna say that I tried!”

  17. Lauren @ Sugar Coated Sisters on December 7, 2011 at 11:20 pm

the chocolate pieces always disappear in my trail mix too!! chocolate-trail-mix-stealing elves?

    • Fitnessista on December 8, 2011 at 9:04 am

      that has to be it….

  18. Kristin on December 8, 2011 at 12:05 am

Oh, I have a problem with the temptation trail mix at Trader Joes, it barely makes it to my house from the store 😉

  19. Ali on December 8, 2011 at 12:35 am

Yumm! I am eating some persimmons right now too!

  20. Kath on December 8, 2011 at 12:56 am

I just had four of my closest friends over for a holiday baking session and my contributions were your pumpkin chocolate chip bread (actually forgot to add the pumpkin the first time around so I had to make it again haha) and the oatmeal chocolate banana donut cookie things!! Those were a big hit, especially right out of the bowl. They didn’t get to try the pumpkin bread with the pumpkin in it, but I like it :). My first baking extravaganza!!

    • Fitnessista on December 8, 2011 at 8:59 am

yay!! so glad it was a success 🙂

  21. Alissa on December 8, 2011 at 2:58 am

    Hi Gina,

Are you able to tell me what yoga podcasts you do?

Thank you thank you thank you! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on December 8, 2011 at 8:58 am

      yogadownload.com – my fave 🙂

  22. Kristen on December 8, 2011 at 7:12 am

Love your snowman bowl and your quick workout! I just don’t have time after work on most days for a longer workout. I like knowing I’m burning maximum calories in a short a amount of time! Thanks!

  23. Amanda on December 8, 2011 at 7:16 am

It’s cute that Bella needs the routine of her walks- sometimes I feel like I force my pups out of bed in the morning- I know she needs to/loves to walk- but she’s not into mornings and I am!

  24. Gen on December 8, 2011 at 8:03 am

Sounds like an awesome workout!!!!! Hope you had a great night!

  25. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on December 8, 2011 at 8:27 am

Thanks for the workout! I always get SO bored on the elliptical without a workout to follow (or without a trashy magazine to read. ;)).

  26. Rachel @ On The Bright Side on December 8, 2011 at 8:51 am

Those eggs + salsa look delicious!

  27. HRCK on December 8, 2011 at 9:11 am

Hah, that picture of you in the sleigh made me laugh!

Also, I am so, so guilty of scavenging for the best parts of trail mix. My friends and family now expect it. 🙂

  28. Shannon (Healthiful Balance) on December 8, 2011 at 9:26 am

Great workout, thanks for sharing! 🙂

  29. Nomad on December 8, 2011 at 9:37 am

I wasn’t going to workout this morning because I didn’t have “time” but I read your post (while lying in bed ignoring my alarm!) and was motivated to go to the gym and do this workout since it was only 20 min. I worked harder than I usually do and had a blast. Thanks!

  30. Allie Q @ Fit Geek on December 8, 2011 at 11:26 am

Do you eat your persimmons raw? And do you eat the skin? I received a couple of them in my co-op share last week. I ate one raw and didn’t really like it. I’m thinking of pureeing them and making them into cookies.

  31. Janine @ThePurpleGiraffe on December 8, 2011 at 11:28 am

    I don’t think I’ve ever had a persimmon… Crazy!

  32. Jennifer on December 8, 2011 at 12:07 pm

Hi this is my first time commenting but I have been following your blog since last year! Just wanted to finally stop by and say HI! I’m in Tucson as well and l have a ton of new restaurants on my list to try thanks to your blog, it’s also fun to see how other Tucsonans live! Where do you get your goat gouda?… I’ve been wanting to try it and didn’t know if you have a specific brand or place you like to get it at. THANKS and I love your blog!

  33. Lizzie on December 8, 2011 at 1:41 pm

Do you think your eats will change post-baby? I know you’re not a fan of counting calories or diets for that matter, but what is your plan to get back in shape? I have no doubt that you’ll bounce back in a second, but I was just wondering if you’ve given it any thought 🙂

    • Fitnessista on December 8, 2011 at 6:27 pm

      hey girl,
i don’t really have a plan because i heard breastfeeding is an athletic event. i’ll probably eat the same amount as i do now (preg eats), and go from there. i’m just really excited to do some high intensity workouts again 🙂

  34. Nikki on December 9, 2011 at 7:21 am

OH man, you know what would be an awesome post you could do? How to eat weird(ish) things, like persimmons. I always want to buy them, but I have no idea what they are supposed to taste like, what the texture should be, or how to eat them. AND I’m pretty sure you do know those things! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on December 9, 2011 at 11:15 am

they kind of taste like a peach meets an apple to me. i buy them the same way i buy tomatoes- firm but not rock hard.
try it- they’re really interesting and delish 🙂
