Beautiful Baubles

Hi hi hi Open-mouthed smile How are you?? My day has been bueno, but a little all over the place.

First I munched a smoothie in a bowl:

smoothie

-1 C almond milk

-1 scoop Dr protein + 1 scoop Sun Warrior

-1/2 avocado

-1 T raw cacao powder

-1 C-ish frozen organic strawberries

and got ready to take my car to get a new tire (boo) and hit up the GEM SHOW with my madre (wahoo!).

Since I’ve gotten quite a few requests to include more fashion-y type stuff on the blog and I wore non-workout clothes today, here’s today’s outfit:

outfit

-Striped tank, J. Crew

-Navy blazer, Banana Republic

-Boyfriend jeans, Express

-Gold necklace, Express

-Gold flats with pom-pom flowers on top, Aldo

It’s something I’ll play around with a little- if you guys like it, I’ll keep doing it, if not, ain’t no thang Winking smile

The gem show is an annual thing in Tucson- jewelry vendors come from all over the world and sell jewelry, trinkets, accessories at wholesale price. You have to be a jeweler or know one to be admitted to the big tent with the crazy deals- my madre gets us passes each year. We met up with my friend Michele and her mom to see what sparkly goodies we could find.

Rows and rows of jewelry Smile

I LOVE looking around but it isn’t long before I get claustrophobic and hungry, so we hit up one of the food tents outside. There was an amazing selection, but the Greek one caught our eye with the fresh salads and promises of hummus Smile

Falafel, hummus, salad with no cheese, extra olives

I was a fan… I always shop better with a fully belly Open-mouthed smile

It was a blast looking around- I picked up a ton of fun stuff.

After the gem show, we picked up my car and I took a friend to her first acupuncture treatment in a long time. Nothing like napping next to a good pal, in a comfy chair and a needle sticking out of your forehead Winking smile

I’m gonna grab a snack and then get ready for dance.

See ya in the morning! <3

xoxo

Gina

Still waiting to find out where we’ll be stationed… hopefully we’ll get news soon! If you could live anywhere, where would you choose?

We are full of military down in San Antonio! You and the pilot should come down here 🙂 Although I must warn you, although SA is a HUGE city, we still have not gotten the last round of larabar flavors (like the ones BEFORE blueberry). Not at whole foods, central market, HEB, etc, etc, etc. BOOOO!!!

    • Christin@purplebirdblog on February 8, 2011 at 1:13 am

I am just finding the last round of flavors in Austin!! It’ll be another crap ton of months before there is any hope of seeing the blueberry!

If I could live anywhere, I would definitely choose Athens, Greece. I’m way into Greek mythology and being near all of those ancient temples and sites would just be amazing for me.

If I could live anywhere, I’d probably stay where I am – Oklahoma. I know it doesn’t sound all that glamorous, but it’s pretty easy to travel anywhere from here, it gets all four seasons, everyone has plenty of space and the people here are so nice. Colorado would be pretty great, too, though.

Also, I really like the fashion aspect that you’re adding!

If I could live anywhere in America I think it would be New Mexico, it’s so beautiful there! Anywhere in the world… Ireland! Can’t wait to hear the news about where you and the pilot get stationed!

    Hi Gina!
I remember you wrote about making coconut butter a while ago – can you remind me how please? I recall it just involved pulverising coconut flesh in a food processor, but can’t remember if you added anything else. Also, I can get sweetened coconut flakes in a packet ( yum) or fresh shredded coconut ( also yum) but not dried unsweetened, only ghastly dessicated ( yuck). Which to use please?!
    Thank you!!

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 11:41 pm

hmmm…. dried unsweetened is the only kind i use. i think you can order it?
i just add a pinch of sea salt, vanilla and cinnamon- good luck!

I would like to get stationed in Europe if I could pick anywhere. If I had to pick in the States I would like the East coast, we only have 10 places to get stationed at so our choices will be very small. We find out in the next month, I am so on edge. Good luck and hope that you get stationed where you really want to.

My friend and her husband just found out they’ll be stationed in Hawaii starting in July for THREE years- cool, eh? I’d choose there or Greece.

Can’t shop hungry, it’s impossible! Love the fashion photo. Hmm if I could live anywhere, it would be…..probably NYC! For now…

the picture you have is a great caption of you jumping! I tried to send you an email but I don’t know if you check (my comments have been going to spam so I’m trying to figure out why)

I hope you get stationed where you want! That would be so wonderful!!! (but either way the Pilot comes home soon right? 😉 I would want to live anywhere that it is warm ALL the time! We are so sick of snow up here! We also have the opportunity to move to France soon and we are actually thinking about it! *excited gasp!*

Yes, more fashion stuff! I like how you put things together and let us know where you got them from. I may not buy the same things but it gives me some inspiration as to how to put some cute outfits together.

I’ve always wanted to try living in AZ. My husband got a job offer at the Nuclear plant and we almost went…but his job here in WI offered him more. So here we stay! Jennifer

I am totally a [north] East Coast girl so I’d pick either DC (where I am now), Boston, or Chicago. Perhaps I could convince myself to venture down to Charlottesville, VA or Charleston, SC because I adore those cities. For the west coast, I really love San Fran, it’s just so darn expensive!

  17. Ali on February 8, 2011 at 10:00 am

If I could live anywhere it would either be Boston or Savannah, GA. Very different but I love them both.

  18. kristin on February 8, 2011 at 10:02 am

    looooove the fashion posts 🙂

  19. RunningOnCoffee on February 8, 2011 at 10:43 am

I don’t know where I’d pick! Actually, hubs is going to be finishing grad school sometime this year, and we’ll have to discuss this for real. It will largely depend on where he gets job offers, but I’m a little (a lot) anxious about this!

    Love the outfit pics!

If I could live anywhere I think I would want to live on the beach in Florida. Somewhere warm, with water would be perfect for me. A close second would be to move back to New Orleans. Alas, I am currently stuck in Maryland because this is where I’m licensed to practice law. It is not warm, and I am not close to the beach at all.

Cute outfit! I love stripes, and I love them even more with a blazer. It’s got such a toned down nauticla feel! 😀

If I could live anywhere, I would love to try living on the east coast in Halifax. My friends who go to school there love it!

  23. Madeleine @ Stepping to the Bright Side on February 9, 2011 at 12:12 pm

IF i coucld speak French, I’d live in Paris in a heartbeat. Since I don’t, I’ll settle for a beach front home/hut in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Corona commercial life, here I come. Love the jumping pic!
