Beeline to B Line

Hey hey hey 😀 How’s your Friday going? Anyone going on vacay for the holiday weekend?

We’re staying here since I have to work tomorrow, but may be escaping to a local resort on Sunday night. I have a Living Social deal burning a hole in my “deals” 🙂

After a doc’s appt this morning, we found ourselves at B Line Cafe on 4th Ave.

photo (1)

It was the Pilot’s first time at B Line, so I had to show him the glory.

Aaaaaand the ridiculous revolving dessert case:

photo (89)

I love this dessert case for 2 reasons

1) the salted caramel tart that’s been calling my name and

2) a good friend of mine has a Facebook photo, hugging said dessert case with the caption “dessert is like a hug from Jesus”

The exciting thing was that we arrived 4 minutes before breakfast ended.. I love breakfast so much 🙂

photo (88)

I enjoyed some potatoes, eggs, corn tortillas and salsa.

Half the potatoes were shared with the Pilot (who devoured a stack of crepe cakes) + about a third of the eggs. It was perfect 🙂

We chilled and ran errands before I had to head to work, which was a nice short day. I assisted Fit Strip (rawr), taught a stretch class and worked in the weight room for an hour. NBD.

Eats:

tucson 001

-organic cherries (LOVE when they’re in season!)

-organic plum

-the other half of last night’s Choice salad – I always ask them to split it so I’ll have lunch and dinner 🙂

I’m off to take a high heel fit class (! more on that to come) and then if I’m feeling crazy, a Friday night baking party 😉

See ya in the morning! <3

xoxo

Gina

Random side notes:

-looking at the above photos makes me realize I either need a new point and shoot or an awesome iPhone photo app- any ideas? The difference between the above pics (1st 3= iPhone, last one = DSLR) is a little much haha

-a goal for next week: getting back in the swing of meal planning. It’s finally starting to feel gross to get takeout so often, so I’m going to do it. What goal are you aiming for next week?

Mmmm – that looks so perfect. I love myself a good diner meal 🙂

Instagram and camera+ are my very favorite camera apps!! 🙂

Have a great rest of your day! I’m of to a Canada Day BBQ, after doing Zumba in the parade!! WOOO!

  3. Suzi @ Confessions of a Fitness Instructor on July 1, 2011 at 9:43 pm

I’ve tried a few of the iPhone photo apps and haven’t been able to find one that takes (or makes) good photos in low light places 🙁 If you find one that works really well you’ll have to let us know!

I don’t think I could handle a high heel fit class, my feet get cranky enough in heels just walking and sitting! 😉

  4. Sara K on July 1, 2011 at 9:45 pm

A high heel fit class? That sounds pretty interesting- something I would love to do 🙂

  5. Cindy on July 1, 2011 at 9:48 pm

I LOVE Hipstamatic for iPhone… I have the iPhone 4, so it has some fun “flash” options. I’m not sure if they are available on the 3G or 3GS though. It is well worth the money because they always turn out looking awesome!! (except the Salvador Dali film, it just looks weird)

Camera+ is pretty good too. If worst comes to worst, get the Photoshop or PhotoForge2 app to help amp up your blah pics.

    Good luck! 🙂

You must use Instagram….it’s my all time favorite iPhone app! Have a great weekend 🙂

  7. Ali @ urbanfruitbat on July 1, 2011 at 9:58 pm

I am stoked to learn more about the high heel fit class! And I knew the take out thing would just be a phase. It is never good enough to keep you coming back forever. My love comes home this weekend! Then it is just a regular week for me.

  8. Kayla (kiki85) on July 1, 2011 at 10:12 pm

The first few picks kind of look like it is foggy in there. But man does that breakfast look yummy.

My goal for next week is to hit the gym at least 3 times not counting Zumba on Tuesday (and it’s my first Zumba class after being sick in May and having to take June off, so I’m excited!) I’ve been slacking on the gym lately.

  9. Dana Marie on July 1, 2011 at 10:12 pm

I vote for less food and more exercise! this is the FITNESSISTA right?

    • Danielle (shrinking and studying) on July 1, 2011 at 10:40 pm

Fitness means a lot more than exercise! I vote it’s Gina’s blog so she writes about what she wants! 😉 great post Gina!

    • Kathleen on July 1, 2011 at 10:41 pm

I know Gina doesn’t like people calling other people out on her blog (because she actually is a kind and decent person), but seriously I question what you were thinking when you left this comment. Certainly it must have been intended to make her feel bad….certainly you were not kind in leaving it…certainly you have a clear lack of manners. While obviously this comment was not personally offensive to me, I would encourage you to think twice before you leave such rude and unnecessary feedback. There is nothing constructive here, and I think it is disgusting if you only left it because you get off on hurting other people’s feelings.

GINA: Love the blog, love the mix of good food and exercise, and I am inspired by you. Haters gonnna hate, I guess 😉

    • Kayla (kiki85) on July 1, 2011 at 10:43 pm

Ummm, so she’s not supposed to eat?

Blog names don’t equal the only topic you can blog about. I think 99% of the comments show that readers enjoy the mix of topics in her post. Plus you can always just stick to the items on the Fitness tab.

    • Rose on July 2, 2011 at 7:54 am

I have to agree. I started reading for exercise tips and it seems to be a showcase of her latest takeout meal and her work schedule and her latest clothes purchase. I can’t afford to eat out that often and can’t afford to shop at Whole Foods on a regular basis. Bring back daily exercise tips!

      • G on July 2, 2011 at 8:04 am

Didn’t she just put together a whole Summer Shape Up Plan…

      • Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) on July 2, 2011 at 3:30 pm

“Welcome to the *workouts* *recipes* *nutritional advice* and *shenanigans* of a military wife, personal trainer, spin and zumba instructor, 100% girly girl, goat cheese and shrimp loving shopaholic.” <— No where does Gina promise to post exclusively about fitness, nor should she have to!

…what's this?? Oh wait, posts with DAILY workout plans that Gina has been posting for the last four weeks..

        http://fitnessista.com/fitness/
Oh and an entire fitness tab with enough exercise tips to last you ALL year..

This is Gina's blog… she can post about what she wants (and the majority of us LOVE it!).. she's not your PT. I can guarantee you she busts her butt putting these workout plans together, because making comprehensive food and meal plans like that just for her readers would take a lot of time! Not to mention there are plenty of 'focus on' posts, and work-out tips spread throughout so many of her other posts. Be grateful for the time and effort she puts into this blog for her READERS (while she works, deals with her first trimester, has a life and spends time with her husband!) instead of critical!

    • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on July 2, 2011 at 7:56 am

Considering that she’s eating for TWO right now, less food probably isn’t a good idea. Gina’s always been an amazing intuitive eater, so I’m sure she’s eating exactly what she needs right now.

    • Fitnessista on July 2, 2011 at 9:04 pm

fitness isn’t only about leaving the gym sweaty
my blog is a mix of a lot of different things and i work really hard to put together a mix of content. this wasn’t my best post obviously, but just wanted to say hi before i went to bed and post a few pics from the day.

  10. Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn on July 1, 2011 at 10:18 pm

Yummmm ESPECIALLY salted caramel tart…oh my god the one at Pure is my ultimate addiction.

  11. Holly @ The Runny Egg on July 1, 2011 at 10:47 pm

I have a Canon Powershot and love it — it was $120 I think and it works really well for me. But then again, I don’t have a DSLR to compare it to.

I hear you on eating out too much — like when we’re on vacation I end up getting so sick of restaurant food that I just crave “regular” food!

  12. Jordan on July 1, 2011 at 10:52 pm

Having only eaten peanuts and fruits so far for dinner, as I have been traveling all night, I can only salute over that b line meal!!

  13. Joslin on July 1, 2011 at 11:01 pm

ahhh just visited tucson and i miss it already!! went to b line and got the raspberry pie, delicious!

  14. Abby on July 1, 2011 at 11:13 pm

I totally hear ya on getting back to some meal planning. I have been what feels like a bottomless pit lately and it hasn’t necessarily been the healthiest foods. This leads to me feeling icky, which makes me not give my all to workouts. I need to get back at it! Hope you have a great 4th of July weekend! 🙂

  15. kaila @ healthy helper! on July 1, 2011 at 11:17 pm

I have been eating a craving eggs like CRRRRRAZY lately! So those eggs look mad good!

That high heel fit class sounds so interesting….can’t wait to hear about it!

  16. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on July 1, 2011 at 11:24 pm

“dessert is like a hug from Jesus” = oh, I love that. Classic one liner!

I love cherries, too. They are in season for such a short time, but when the gettin’ is good, I love ’em!

The whole iphone, DSLR, point and shoot dilemma…I do use my iphone every now and then (and you do wayyyyy more out and about pics that I do) but I also bring my DSLR with me tons, too. I have evolved to the level that I just would rather bring it b/c I know I will be so much happier with the pics, but yes, it’s one heavy beast. haha! Everyone raves about instagram but I haven’t gotten on board with it…yet 🙂

Keep us posted what you decide…

  17. Sana on July 1, 2011 at 11:48 pm

    I live for dessert!

  18. Gina @ Running to the kitchen on July 1, 2011 at 11:49 pm

I inhaled about a 1 lb. of cherries all by myself today. They are sooo good right now.

  19. Cara on July 2, 2011 at 12:07 am

I heart the instagram photo app however you have to go through the steps to save each picture or you lose it, no rapid picture taking there.

  20. Kara on July 2, 2011 at 1:20 am

long time reader, first time commenter. I love your blog and I was wondering if you have any motivation advice for someone like me who is just beginning a weight loss journey. Even a link to a past post would be great. Congrats on the little bun in your oven!

  21. Yolie @ Practising Wellness on July 2, 2011 at 2:24 am

Oh, yum, cherries are the best…we have a big cherry tree in our garden, which is amazing, and grows so many sweet fruits, but the birds seem to eat them all before I can – evil creatures, lol! 😉 I couldn’t be without my little point and shoot – I’d imagine a big camera is so clunky and cumbersome to lug around, while my phone takes such bad pictures (it’s not an iphone). Plus if I couldn’t keep my camera permanently in my handbag i would most likely forget it, lol! 😛 Happy high heels class-ing…sounds intriguing! Can’t wait to hear about it! 🙂 xyx

Please Please Please don t ingnore my little tiny question. I m a very active and fit person But I do have some complains about my pear shaped body. I loveeee to do squats and lunges with their variations and yes, I see results , but I want to ask you if is there some specific exercising for my type of body in terms of legs? I know I should balance out by working upper body , but what about legs? No rezistance? Long cardio sessions?
    I m all ears and I m gratefull!

    • Fitnessista on July 2, 2011 at 8:59 pm

cardio and healthy eating makes a huge difference, + whole-body strength training 🙂

  23. Hayley @ Oat Couture on July 2, 2011 at 5:45 am

My goal this week is to get my ass back on track with exercise and eating well after a couple of months of holiday! My problem is that I can be a lazy bugger at times! :/ However I’m gonna write out a plan and make sure I stick to it! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🙂

  24. Hayley @ Hayley Daily on July 2, 2011 at 5:49 am

Your breakfast looks so good! Yum. And that dessert case? Holy moly. I could do some serious damage in there.

  25. Chelsa on July 2, 2011 at 7:09 am

Yeah iphone pictures aren’t the greatest but I suppose they get the job done for the most part

  26. Amy (purewellnessamy) on July 2, 2011 at 7:56 am

My son and I picked 5 pounds of cherries on Thursday — so good!

  27. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on July 2, 2011 at 7:58 am

I always love seeing the meals that you make for you + the Pilot. Can’t wait to see what you plan for next week! 🙂

My goal for next week is to get back into doing some longer runs. I feel like it’s been ages for me!

Now I’m craving orange juice. Is it bad that I like the artificial stuff better than fresh….? :S

Oh my gosh….the ultrasound picture totally gave me butterflies! I’m so excited for you…. and I’m living vicariously through you! lol Seeing the actual outline and shape of a humans body just makes it SO real. Once I get through school, we’re going to start poppin’ out babies. At least that’s MY plan 🙂 hehehe

I appreciate you! I read your website everyday and enjoy every minute of it:) As far as meal plans go, I was wondering if you had a good/healthy homemade pizza recipe? Something I thought my kids and I can enjoy together. Thanks for all your great ideas, suggestions, and insites!

  37. Joy on July 4, 2011 at 7:19 pm

I have instagram hipstamatic and shake it photo and I like all of them. And I feel like if you’re not using a plain photo app but making it clearly different then they are all nice and different and can get along on the same page (kinda like different people sharing a world)
