Blame it on the moon

Helloooooo 😀 How are ya? It was comforting to hear that I’m not the only emotional post-workout girl out there!

It was also really interesting to read Averie’s comment about the full moon…

I blame nature. Haha.

So I had another real dinner last night!

Except for this one was coated in a blanket of melted Daiya 😉

After reading Gena’s post about veggie gratin, the weirdest thing happened: I actually wanted veggies again! (ok, I really wanted melted Daiya, but we can pretend)

I followed her recipe and enjoyed it along with a salad, topped with my new fave dressing:

SO good 🙂

After dinner, I started a new book- a friend of mine recommended the author Martha Beck to me, while we were talking about inspirational stuff (and how we both love motivational/inspirational reads).

The book is called “Finding Your Own North Star: Claiming the Life You Were Meant to Live”

I’m am 100% sucked in already, and wishing I would have read it a little over 3 years ago before starting the blog. I had just quit my miserable job as an area sales manager, had a finance degree I wasn’t using (and couldn’t get a job, despite my educational background and credentials), and found myself at a serious crossroads. The Pilot was gone a lot (which became a way of life) and I was pretty miserable as I was trying to figure out my niche and what I would make of myself.

I was so fortunate to become involved in the health and fitness industry and eventually start the blog, which is hands down, my true passion. Eventually this little hobby became my full-time job and I know it’s what I’m supposed to do, especially since I enjoy it so much 🙂

That being said, I really think that this book will help with the “what’s next?” stage. I plan on blogging forever (you’ll have to work really hard to get rid of me, haha) but like to think that the blog is a jumping off point for something else, too 🙂

Do you read inspirational/motivational books? What are you reading right now?

I’m off to teach! See ya later, friends <3

xoxo

I tried to go buy this at Border’s and they were all sold out. I’ll definitely put it on my list of things to read.

full moon always makes ppl craycray!! 🙂 i love reading inspirational books. eventually i want to do global health medicine (traveling the world while serving ppl) so two of my fave books are: mountains beyond mountains (about dr. paul farmer) and leaving microsoft to change the world. both great books. p.s. i have been appointed as Director of the Manny Pacquiao Foundation!! so my next book is At a Crossroads: not-for-profit leadership strategies for boards and executives. 🙂 can’t wait for it!!

Ok, I’m with you. I have been eating really awful lately- maybe I’m just on your wavelength and can’t wait for the pilot to get home too, haha! I have a smoothie for dinner and my eats have been really erratic. I have a family of carnivores that I feed and i always feel that I come last and sometimes I just don’t have the energy to put into it.

I’m trying to look for new ideas. Ah life!

The full moon reasoning makes a lot of sense. People don’t realize how much it affects our bodies, I’ve heard it has something to do with the water in our bodies. My mom used to work as a nurse for mental health patients and she always said that things got a bit more nutty during a full moon. On another note, thanks for the book recommendation. I’ve been looking for something inspirational to read. I’m at a point in my life right now where it sounds like that book would come in handy.

SO interesting about the moon. And I should get that book – I’m in a miserable job with a new blog and studying to be a health coach!

That book sounds awesome. I’m sure a TON of people could benefit from reading it!

Right now I’m bouncing back and forth between 2 books– Raising Boys (soo good! Definitely recommend it for anyone raising boys 🙂 ) and Something Blue (which is the sequel to Something Borrowed).

That’s interesting about the full moon…I don’t know if I fully believe all that– how can the shape of the moon effect your mood?? But it was definitely an interesting perspective 🙂

When you said you plan on blogging forever, I totally just pictured all of us bloggers 60 years from now writing posts about the best foods to eat with our dentures and reviews of our seniors aerobics classes LOL! 😛

I just finished reading “Why Zebra’s Don’t Get Ulcers”. A GREAT book about human nature and the way we approach our lives. It is really funny but gives great insight.

My favorite self help books are Happy for No Reason and Love for No Reason by Marci Schimoff… They have really helped me on my journey to feeling more like myself after having my son. It’s a strange identity crisis that has taken over my life for almost 3 years. They share amazing life experiences and really make you feel more connected to yourself through the exercises. My husband met her 2 years ago and said she is just the most amazingly positive and happy person and that is exactly how I want to be 🙂
