Blizzard Booty Burner

I woke up this morning so excited to see….

snow

SNOW!

snow (2)

From a distance, that is 😉 (I enjoy snow the most this way)

One bonus point for chilly weather: when I take Bella out, she does her business wicked fast. I should put a jacket on her, but she’s like a little white furry lightning bolt- she dashes outside and runs back in. I love it.

Breakfast was pretty standard over here:

eggs and toast

2 eggs, nutritional yeast and toast

+ a baked (aka microwaved) apple

apple

I’m off to do the work thang, and am thankful to Chipotle for making my lunch.

chipotle

Leftover chicken, brown rice, black bean, salsa, guacamole salad and a Vega bar

I’m off!

Have a Happy Wednesday <3

xoxo

Gina

Ooh I like that workout and how it adds another exercise each round! It baffles me that you guys have snow (in the distance) and I, living in Southern Ontario have zero snow right now – it’s still cold, but this is pretty much unheard of at this time of year! I hope you have a wonderful day Gina!

  2. Ali on December 14, 2011 at 10:08 am

Yay for take out! I enjoy snow from a distance myself as well. I used to live in the arctic (Calgary Alberta) which is just snow land in the winter. I am over it. Lol

  3. Cat @Breakfast to Bed on December 14, 2011 at 10:09 am

Burpees. Really. Because you hate us or just think all the comments you’ll get about how much burpees are the devil are funny? I am only going to do this because you’re pregnant and I blame mommy insanity.

    • Fitnessista on December 14, 2011 at 1:21 pm

by hate you mean LOVE 🙂
and because i’m going to pop this baby out at any second and cannot burpee for now, you guys have to live it up for me 😉

  4. Magda on December 14, 2011 at 10:12 am

On the 1st day of Christmas my true love sent to me…
That was my first thought after reading the workout 🙂
    Have a nice day 🙂

  5. Caitlin on December 14, 2011 at 10:13 am

I too am a fan of snow when it is AWAY from me! You seem to live in such a beyond gorgeous area.

  6. Steffany on December 14, 2011 at 10:18 am

I love burpees ! hehe Will probably try this today (: !

  7. Erin @ Running Tall on December 14, 2011 at 10:28 am

I used to be a fan of snow until I moved to Saskatchewan. It snows a few times and then stays from Octoberish until March/April. You get sick of it when it stays for that long.

PS Burpees? They are so evil. I’ll give it a try, but I’m not promising miracles haha.

  8. Rose on December 14, 2011 at 10:33 am

Is that your daily view? JEALOUS.

    • Fitnessista on December 14, 2011 at 1:20 pm

  10. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on December 14, 2011 at 10:36 am

Omg I love that jimmy kimmel video!! Although some of the kids got rather angry.

    • Fitnessista on December 14, 2011 at 1:20 pm

some of those kids were hardcore BRATS

  11. Caity @ Moi Contre La Vie on December 14, 2011 at 10:53 am

Definitely going to steal that workout! 🙂

  12. Anna @ The Guiltless Life on December 14, 2011 at 10:54 am

Hehe I like snow from a distance too. I can see the mountains from my bedroom window so I like waking up and seeing it – far far away :).

I need to start adding a little extra kick to my breakfasts, especially in terms of protein, and adding nutritional yeast to eggs sounds like a great idea. Do you just sprinkle it over top of them or mix it in with them before scrambling?

    • Fitnessista on December 14, 2011 at 1:19 pm

either or. i like it scrambled in while they cook the best

  13. Chelsa on December 14, 2011 at 11:00 am

I can’t wait to try the workout. My dog loves the cold. He’s a 12 lb American Eskimo so he has lots of fur to keep him warm.

  14. HRCK on December 14, 2011 at 11:13 am

That youtube video of terrible presents is GREAT! Ha. Hopefully you’ll avoid that if you stick with your experience gifts idea 🙂

    • Fitnessista on December 14, 2011 at 1:19 pm

      amen to that.
if i ever acted as ungrateful as some of those kids growing up, i would have been in HUGE trouble.

  15. Janine @ ThePurpleGiraffe on December 14, 2011 at 11:23 am

Hehehe, wicked fast? That sounds like a New Englander talkin’ 🙂 Girl after my own heart!

    • Fitnessista on December 14, 2011 at 1:18 pm

i got it from my friend shel (who is from massachusetts)- she says it all the time 🙂

  16. joelle (on a pink typewriter) on December 14, 2011 at 11:30 am

Haha I totally enjoy snow better from a distance… hopefully we won’t be getting a blizzard here in D.C. anytime soon this year. i tweeted this, but do you have advice for toning up the midsection/abs??

  17. Lena @Fit on the Rocks on December 14, 2011 at 11:55 am

The Chipotle in AZ has brown rice?! Not fair.

    • Fitnessista on December 14, 2011 at 1:16 pm

      yeah, it’s new! so exciting

  18. Alyssa @ Life of bLyss on December 14, 2011 at 11:56 am

GOSHDARNIT. I thought the BBB was going to be a Dairy Queen blizzard that somehow burned my booty.

’cause THAT would have been awesome.

    • Fitnessista on December 14, 2011 at 1:16 pm

blizzards are amazing. especially the cookie dough one 🙂

  19. Kaila @healthyhelperblog! on December 14, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Love that workout! Reminds me of a body rock one I’ve been doing lately! And I wish I had the option of observing snow from a distance….nope, I instead am surrounded by it!!!! NO BUENO.

  20. Liz @ Southern Charm on December 14, 2011 at 12:14 pm

This workout looks killer, and like I can do it at home. I have to try this out!!

    • Fitnessista on December 14, 2011 at 1:15 pm

  21. Amy@healthyhungryhappy.com on December 14, 2011 at 12:43 pm

  22. Allison on December 14, 2011 at 12:51 pm

Totes jealous y’all are seeing snow! It’s been unseasonably warm on the east coast [50’s] I can’t imagine seeing snow on the ground… Maybe it’s all building up and we’ll get a big blizzard in January?! I’m hoping for my first snow days as a teacher 😀

  23. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on December 14, 2011 at 1:11 pm

“From a distance, that is 😉 (I enjoy snow the most this way)” <– Me too. As in about 1000 miles away is close enough. Moved out of snowy climates and NEVER plan to return. Unless you count a 24hr ski trip…lol

Little dogs especially usually dread rain or snow so IF you can get them to go out in it, they are usually super fast as you mentioned. Thank goodness for small miracles 🙂

  24. Colleen on December 14, 2011 at 1:29 pm

“on the 1st day of Christmas, Fitnessista gave to me,” *insert booty burner workout* “and a partridge in a pear treeeeeeeee……..”

  25. Jan on December 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm

I can’t do burpees. Jumping hurts me in that way; or maybe I’m just uncoordinated.

I LOVE that china black rice bread (take me to rehab). Just had some with olive oil, eggs, avocado and then more dipped in thick creamy yogurt. Yum!

    • Jan on December 14, 2011 at 2:01 pm

(I think the black china rice bread is even BETTER than the brown rice stuff. Its less dense or something (?). I’m not sure! I’ve heard the Udi’s bread is good too, haven’t tried.

  26. mary on December 14, 2011 at 2:51 pm

I’m curious why you wait for Bella. Can she get out of the fence or are you worried she’ll find a snake or coyote when you’re not watching? Just curious!

    • Fitnessista on December 14, 2011 at 4:43 pm

she can’t get out, but we have coyotes, mountain lions, scorpions, hawks and rattlesnakes in the neighborhood.

  27. Rhiannon on December 14, 2011 at 2:54 pm

We get a lot of snow, and when I was a kid I had a dachshund. She would “make” us clear off a spot for her to do her business, she refused to squat in snow!!

Onto your lunch, do you have a secret for making guacamole stay green longer? Mine turns brown so fast. I put extra lime juice in, and I try to cover it completely with saran wrap so no air gets in, but it still goes.

  28. katherine on December 14, 2011 at 5:18 pm

Aaahhh what a view!! I never realized Tucson was so close to mountains. Gorgeous!

  29. She Rocks Fitness on December 14, 2011 at 5:31 pm

Love this! I’m going to try it out next week on my “Corporate Boot Camp” ladies and see what they think. This will be a nice little warm-up. 😉 I’ve been loving warming up my pears and apples for breakfast. So yummy! Hope you had a great Wednesday!

  32. Pure2raw twins on December 14, 2011 at 6:34 pm

    YAY for snow!!!

and that workout sounds great, will have to try it tomorrow. I have been slacking in my workouts lately

  33. Brittany on December 14, 2011 at 6:44 pm

I am going to sound REALLY stupid but, what is a burpee?

  34. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on December 14, 2011 at 6:51 pm

I’m so sore from yesterday’s leg workout right now, so that booty burner actually looks like torture to me right now! 😛

  35. Marc on December 14, 2011 at 7:14 pm

Looks like my view here in Boulder… Lovely

  36. Dominique on December 15, 2011 at 12:45 am

Have you ever tried a baked (microwaved) apple with Greek yogurt? I tried it for the first time yesterday (Greek yogurt was $1/tub so I stocked up) and it was amazing. It was kind of like apple pie ice cream.

    • Fitnessista on December 15, 2011 at 11:01 am

      that sounds wonderful!
