Blog friend date part 2 + last week’s workouts

Hi guys! Happy Sunday! How’s your weekend been?

We started ours off by spending Friday morning with these lovely ladies:

(Janae and Brooke!)

I was so excited when I found out they’d be here in San Diego, especially since I LOVE Janae’s blog. The first time I emailed to ask her to guest post, I was like “I love your blog and you probably have no clue who I am but will you please guest post for me?” like a creeper. We’ve become friends over the couple of years and knew the girls would have so much fun playing together.

Here they are hanging out and sharing some watermelon 🙂

We spent some time at the park before heading to Nekter Juice Bar for smoothies, juice and acai bowls.

The rest of the weekend has been fun whirlwind with lots of fitness classes. After being offered my first *real* San Diego Zumba class, I was offered three more classes this weekend at another gym. When it rains it pours, huh? I am soso excited, especially because I’ve had to hustle and remain persistent while trying to get my foot in the door. Maybe a set teaching schedule will make it seem like we actually live here, instead of like we’re on vacation every day. 😉

Despite traveling last week, it was still an awesome week of workouts.

Here’s what it looked like:

Sunday: Barre3 class and this HIIT workout

Monday: Base workout (strength)

Tuesday: OFF

Wednesday: Teach Zumba

Thursday: OrangeTheory (it was a power day, and it was terrible in the best way possible)

Friday: OFF

Saturday: Teach Zumba

Bodypump

This week is going to filled with barre classes, some Zumba, and BodyPump practicing my brains out. I’m finally filming my certification video on Sunday, and I’ll definitely be glad when it’s out of the way. If you’re in San Diego and would like to come take a free BodyPump class (I will make no guarantees of the quality, haha) please let me know!

Have a wonderful day <3

xoxo

Gina

I was killing my workouts this week for the first two days….and then I got walloped with mastitis on Wednesday and actually ran a 105 degree fever for awhile. Thankfully, I am on the mend, but the rest of the week has been spent resting. Hopefully I will be back at it tomorrow!

Last weeks workouts included a lot of walking, stretching and foam rolling with 2 days of strength. This weeks workouts will include a lot of class practice for a new class format. Blog friend dates looks like fun.

How fun! I love love love both of your blogs 🙂

Congratulations on all of the classes, that’s so darn exciting!!!

I am trying to regularly incorporate BodyPump back into my routine. I LOVE working my back, and the newest release back track kills me in the best way possible!

I got in a great week of workouts last week! My birthday is coming up soon and I want to be feeling my best for all of the fun!

I had solid workouts this week. My body is getting stronger from my injury. I need to build more strength still. I have muscle imbalance going on. I see you take 1-2 days off each week. I never used to take rest days. I always had lighter days walking or swimming. I’ve noticedy body now really wants that time off and trying to listen to it and obey.

I had a great week of workouts this week! 2 RIP (my gym’s version of BodyPump) classes, 2 elliptical interval sessions, and golf 🙂

Good luck shooting your certification video. I’m sure you’ll be great!

My week of workouts included teaching some Les Mills group fitness classes, working out in the weightroom, taking power yoga and attending a kettlebell certification program. Holy, kettlebell swings. I love it!

And my latest healthy recipe obsession? Using my spiralizer for zucchini noodles: http://aladygoeswest.com/2014/07/26/how-to-make-zucchini-noodles/

    So easy and so delicious!

“Oh my gosh, it’s JANAE!!! And Brooke!” –my thoughts when I saw your post this morning.

Two of my favorite bloggers in the same photo!!! Awesome!

I’m starting to train for my second-ever half and got in some good running this week. I keep making my hamstrings overly sore from weight-training, though, and it’s messing with my running. Trying to figure out how to balance better.

    Happy Sunday!

We have been having lots of sun in the UK so I have been doing some workouts outside on my bike! Good luck with your accreditation.

You seem to rock the whole random class schedule juggling act… But I can imagine how nice it will be to have a regular schedule! I thrive on routines too.

I officially start training for my second half marathon tomorrow–Nike Women’s Half in San Francisco. Hills are not my friend (nor is available time), so I’ve bee doing some killer hill training intervals on the tread during my lunchbreak at work). 1min flat to 1min incline starting at 5.0. Increase incline by 1.0 every other interval. I’ve gotten so much stronger just in the last two weeks of doing it…. I love seeing my efforts actually work. I’m looking forward to the challenge, especially since the race is the day after my *gulp* 30th birthday.

Hi! I have been working out 6 days a week and haven’t lost any weight (put on 10 pounds over winter when I wasn’t working out as much and eating poorly) I read somewhere that 5 days is better than 6 because you have more recovery time. I notice you have 5 days a week also. Do you agree? I think I want to cut back to 5 days

  12. Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries on July 27, 2014 at 11:55 am

SO fun that you got to hang out with Janae and little Brooke! They’re some of my favorites. 🙂

Good luck with the BODYPUMP! I just got my video assessment results back this past week and passed! Such a relief to have that all finished. I’m sure you will totally rock yours! I wish I could come take your class. 🙂

  13. Sara @ LovingOnTheRun on July 27, 2014 at 12:15 pm

Had a great first week of marathon training here! Am feeling a lot stronger than previous rounds of training and am excited to see where things go!

  14. Allison on July 27, 2014 at 12:35 pm

I’d LOVE to come to the Bodypump class! And I’m sure some pals will also be interested. I’m sure it’ll be great.

  15. Tracy on July 27, 2014 at 12:43 pm

While a set teaching schedule would be nice, who wouldn’t want to feel like they’re on vacation every day?? Sign me up 🙂

  16. RachelG on July 27, 2014 at 3:57 pm

Last week’s Zumba workout was amazing! 😉 I got back into normal non vacation mode this morning with the warm up/sun’s out guns out arm burner/barre/cardio combo listed on Thursday’s blog post, and a trip to Trader Joe’s (aka nirvana, even on a Sunday afternoon). I LOVED being on vacation for two weeks but there really is nothing like being home. This week will be all about clean eating at home and getting back into the 5 day a week workout routine. 🙂

My workout schedule this week is barre intensive. I’m taping for my test out routine on Wednesday!!

  21. Kara on July 27, 2014 at 8:34 pm

This week’s workouts have been a great mix of cardio, strength, and rest while traveling to see family, AND I got a huge compliment from my sis-in-law whom I haven’t seen in months when she said, “Whoa, look at those guns; have you been lifting?” Yay for SSU Round #2! It was great to hear since I’m unable to run like I used to and reminded me that I can still work out, feel good, and look good–even without running!

  22. Michelle on July 27, 2014 at 9:44 pm

Had a great week workout wise the last half of the week, first half was a lot of walking at Cedar Point amusement park and the NFL Hall of Fame and I may or may not have had a funnel cake (and loved every bite of it). Yesterday while doing squats, the hubs (former college and pro athlete) came in the room & told me my form was a little off, he corrected me and I hated him and the toilet today!!! I considered not getting my normal water intake so I didn’t have to potty so much!! Ha

I live in illinois and we are having beautiful weather! I’ve been doing bootcamp workouts outside and running with my kiddos.

P.S. I downloaded your book and it was great! Just like talking to a friend 🙂

I have tried something in the past similar to the morning detox. I tried your recipe this morning and mixed cold water and all the other ingredients. I put this in my Bullet and mixed and then poured into a cup and heated in the microwave. I don’t see why you can’t make a pitcher full as you would lemonaid and just pour out cold in the morning or heat if you like warm. What could go bad by making in big batch?

  31. Jill on January 6, 2017 at 2:28 pm

I’m hitting it hard this month!! I’m determined to loose weight! Thanks, you guys, for all the encouragement!

My goal this month is to drink a juice/protien shake every morning of this month, do 30 situps a day, 10 pushups a day, walk around my parking lot at work 1 time everyday and I found a diet that I’m hoping is the ticket (www.roadtocleanliving.com). I’m stocked and I gotta stay stoked!

    Go! Go! Go!
