Booty Shakin’

Hey everyone!

Hope you’re having a great morning 😀

I brought my Flip to Zumba last night!! Here we are doing a dance to “Mami” by the Kumbia Kings.

We dance in a racquetball court with paper covering the wall (so the weightlifting dudes can’t see in)- Moody is the only base gym I’ve been to that doesn’t have an aerobics room! Despite our cozy little room, we have a blasty and a la Tim Gunn, we make it work 😀

Enjoy- feel free to dance along!

See ya later this afternoon!

xoxo,

Gina

  2. Julie on January 28, 2010 at 12:06 pm

Awesome!! You really get into it! It shows what an awesome instructer you are when the whole class gets into it and follows along real well. They all look like professional dancers!!

  3. Samantha on January 28, 2010 at 12:19 pm

That looks like so much fun!! I love your blog and you are so cute!

  4. Krissy on January 28, 2010 at 12:19 pm

  6. elle p on January 28, 2010 at 12:31 pm

Love the Winter Shape up workouts. Question for everyone, how do you avoid feeling self conscious at the gym when doing the workouts?? The area at my gym they designate for doing your own workout is in the middle of all the cardio equipment. I always feel so silly doing the workouts in front of everyone. Does this bother anyone else? Any suggestions?

    • Fitnessista on January 28, 2010 at 12:38 pm

      hey elle,
usually people are so worried about their own workout that they don’t really care or notice what everyone else is doing! just do your thang! or if you’re doing a shape-up workout, you can do all of the moves at home with a stability ball and dumbbells 🙂

      • elle p on January 28, 2010 at 2:44 pm

thanks! I’m sure the more I do them at the gym the more comfortable I’ll get.

  7. kristin on January 28, 2010 at 12:34 pm

  9. BethT @ Pretty By The Bay on January 28, 2010 at 12:54 pm

    This video confirms two things:

    1) Zumba looks totally awesome.

    2) I would be very bad at Zumba.

  10. brittney on January 28, 2010 at 1:00 pm

You. Are. Too. Cute. For. Words.

  11. La on January 28, 2010 at 1:01 pm

I really really reallly want to try out Zumba but I’m super-uncoordinated so I don’t know if I’d be any good at it! Maybe I should just suck it up.

    • Fitnessista on January 28, 2010 at 1:03 pm

being good doesnt matter- just have fun! i think you’d love it 🙂

      • Mandy A on January 28, 2010 at 4:39 pm

Exactly what Gina said! I am NOT a dancer by ANY means… but out of nowhere convinced myself to try Zumba one day – all by myself! haha! And that was last May 🙂 I’ve been hooked ever since! It’s so much FUN that you don’t care whether you can “dance” or not! The atmosphere is awesome… everyone is there for a “party” and just has a blast! Give it a shot! 🙂

        • La on January 28, 2010 at 9:42 pm

Thanks ladies. I watched the video again and decided I’m gonna find a class to try out for next week. Yay!

  21. Kristal (from Moody Zumba) on January 28, 2010 at 4:12 pm

Haha, Okay we need a tripod. I have a mini one somewhere… We need to use it… lol. =] But anyways, Im glad I was only in the video 10 seconds, it showed me how much I still need to work out! So when I get skinnier… Oh Ill be like, FILM ME!!!! Haha! Look at Tasha doin her thing. ANDDD this song didnt mess up! HALLELUJA!!! Im bringing a old stereo from my husbands shop… It looks like a hot mess, but it may work better than the other one…. We can try it. I will check to see if it works first. But I have soo much fun in class, so I am very glad I get to come to class again! Hey… idea… what if we could do Zumba in the auditorium or at the church in the big room since the class has grown so much… it seriously went from 6 of us to like 40! Insane! I really do love it though! See you Monday!!

    • Fitnessista on January 28, 2010 at 4:55 pm

  22. Ariffa on January 28, 2010 at 4:24 pm

holey look at you go! That was awesome I want to start zumba pronto!

  23. Theresa on January 28, 2010 at 4:45 pm

Okay, I’m officially jealous for 2 reasons. 1. You can dance! 2. You really look like you enjoy working out. I’m struggling with major gym burnout. I go religously for months and then, all of a sudden, I don’t want to step foot in the gym or put on another pair of spandex pants. Has that ever happened to you and what advice do you have for staying motivated? I don’t have a weight problem, so I go to the gym for the mere fact that “it’s good for you.” I have never really liked working out and at times, I’d rather have a root canal.

    • Fitnessista on January 28, 2010 at 4:52 pm

lol at rather having a root canal
i think the key is finding exercise that you LOVE and can look forward to. i don’t ever look forward to the treadmill, ever. zumba, on the other hand (and spin! and yoga!) i can’t wait to do. make sure you’re trying different things and when you find something you love, stick with that for a while. when you start to get bored, find ways to change up what you’re doing, or look out for something new 🙂

  24. Steph on January 28, 2010 at 4:58 pm

I have always wanted to try Zumba but have been too scared to do it. After watching that, it makes me even more scared. I would look ridiculous. My two year old was watching it with me and she loved dancing with you and your class.

    • Fitnessista on January 28, 2010 at 5:05 pm

girl, you would NOT look ridiculous. you would have a blast, i promise 🙂

      • Fitnessista on January 28, 2010 at 5:05 pm

ps i’m glad your little one liked dancing along 😉

  25. maggie on January 28, 2010 at 5:14 pm

ohh my, you are zumba queen!
I wish i could move like that, i move like the typical white girl!

  26. Brenna on January 28, 2010 at 5:29 pm

So cute! Looks like a blast! Wish you lived here so I could take a class!

  27. Katie on January 28, 2010 at 5:47 pm

I am definitely going to be on the lookout for a local Zumba class! I think there is one very nearby. I will have to check it out. 🙂

  42. Tiffany on January 28, 2010 at 10:55 pm

Amazing! Gina, you’re such a great dancer! You’ve inspired me to TRY my first zumba class! :-O Sometime this year it WILL happen – might take a few months of prepping the courage first! 🙂

  43. One Healthy Apple on January 29, 2010 at 1:04 am

I loved this video. I had to wait till I got home because I had a feeling my office mates would not appreciate the zumba demo! You are too adorable and I love how you motivated the whole clase to get dowwwwn!

  44. Romy on January 29, 2010 at 1:50 am

    Hi Gina,
I like your Zumba. I took also a class like that ten years ago in my fitness center I always went to. The teacher was Brazilian and I can tell you, he could shake his booty well 😀 That class was named “Let’s go salsa”. I loved this class. Zumba is nearly the same. We also did those moves, among others. Love it 😀
    Have a great Friday!!

  45. Sana on January 29, 2010 at 3:52 am

That looks so fun! I wanna take a Zumba class with you 🙂 Or a Zumba class in general.

  49. Teri [a foodie stays fit] on February 15, 2010 at 12:18 pm

Zumba has NEVER appealed to me, especially based on the classes I’ve seen at my local gym. But now I totally want to do it – as long as you are teaching! 🙂
