Breezy Valdeezy

Hi friends Smile

Holler from the Hotel de Jeni:

jenishouse

The drive to Valdosta was pretty uneventful, but once I got here, it was a whirlwind for a second.

valdosta

Viesa and I hit up PetSmart for dog food

I stopped at the Main Squeeze (my fave!) to get some juices for us

juice

Carrot, ginger, beet for me

+ one of these locally made fiber bars with wheat, dried blueberries, walnuts, millet and flax

bread

It was more like a bread than a sweet bar

bread (2)

Gluten is delicious, btw Winking smile

I tweeted borderline inappropriate things

Saw my dad, the dentist (who isn’t really my dad- just looks like him!)

And found a fluffy new friend.

me

This is Chloe- she was wandering on the side of the road, looking a little disheveled so I stopped the car.

She was drinking water that was draining from the sprinkler system, so I called her over, gave her some clean water and a treat (I had just picked some up for Vies at PetSmart, so we had treats on hand!)

She didn’t have a nametag, just an old rabies tag that had our vet’s number on it. I called the vet, and since Viesa had an appointment to get shots 15 minutes later (how awesome did that work out?) I brought Chloe with us to the vet.

chloe

She’s like Bella’s shaggy cousin Smile She laid on my yoga towel on my lap as we drove.

The vet’s office is trying to find the owner and are going to call me if they can’t get ahold of them- I’m sure it would be easy to find an amazing home for her if the owners abandoned her.

I dropped Viesser off at the kennel –she’s at *camp* until after Thanksgiving- and then came to Jeni’s to relax for a second.

Next, a 25-min HIIT TurboFire sesh in Jeni’s living room:

Hi yah.

Now we’re chilling, about to get ready for dinner with the girls. We’re going to one of my faves and then coming back here for cupcakes and vino- I’m excited Smile

See ya in the morning!!

xoxo,

Gina

Something to do: Two of my friends are up for a sahweet gig as fashion blogger for Sunglass Hut- Kailey and Jeanette. Please check out their videos and do the voting thang, if you would like Smile

You are such a good samaritan for taking Chloe to the vet. I’m sure her cute face made it easy to do.

No offence but carrot, ginger, and beet juice doesn’t sound good. But maybe that’s just me – I’ve never had fresh juice before. What it good? 🙂

  8. Laura @ Backstage Pass on November 11, 2010 at 6:35 pm

Chloe is a cutie pie! Hopefully her owners are okay… otherwise, why would someone abandon a sweetie like her? I can’t think of any reason 🙁
Have fun with your Valdizzy friends!

  9. Lauren on November 11, 2010 at 6:46 pm

    So cute.

You’re a great person, Gina. I really admire how you just cheerfully do the kind thing. It’s inspiring!

“locally made fiber bars with wheat, dried blueberries, walnuts, millet and flax”–omg that looks awesome!!!

Glad the drive was good and uneventful..and it must be a bit surreal being back there.

I used to go to my childhood dentist when i’d fly home up til I was in my early 20s. LOL Nothing like a good familiar dentist!

Chloe is lucky to have crossed paths with your caring heart 🙂

  15. Krystina (Basil & Wine) on November 11, 2010 at 7:40 pm

What you did for Chloe is so sweet! She needed some love. 🙂

  16. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on November 11, 2010 at 7:46 pm

So lucky that you found Chloe and took her to the vet! I know if my dog were missing, I’d hope someone would be that responsible and kind, too! I hope she has a home soon!

And your plans tonight sound fabulous! Hope you have a great birthday!!

    Chloe=cutie pie!

    cupcakes and vino…excellent!

  22. stacey on November 11, 2010 at 8:46 pm

So glad that you were able to get Chloe into the car! It breaks my heart when I see dogs on the side of the road or running in my neighborhood and I cannot get them to come to me so that I can try to find their owners. I hope that she just got loose and was not abandoned.

  23. Jill@MyAdviceQuarterLife on November 11, 2010 at 9:03 pm

I want that dog stat!! You are such a good little lady picking up that sweet little thing. I hope they find the owner, keep us posted.

Oh what a cutie! I hope someone claims her..that just breaks my heart to see animals on the side of the road. You are a good person =)

  26. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on November 11, 2010 at 9:48 pm

Awww what a sweet dog! My brother and I picked up a dog causing havoc (and major traffic!) on a major roadway and brought him to the vet. He was safely returned to his owners 🙂

  27. Sally on November 11, 2010 at 9:48 pm

How crazy is it that you came across poor little Chloe when you were already heading to your vet AND saw she was a patient there already AND had treats in the car already?? She’s a lucky little poochie. I hope her owners are found but something tells me she’ll be okay regardless 😉

  28. Brittany (Eating Bird Food) on November 11, 2010 at 9:50 pm

Oh, Chole is such a sweetie – I hope her owners claim her!

Have fun with the girls tonight. 😉

PS – How much did you pay for the juice? I’m trying to compare because I feel as though the juice bar close to me is super expense – it’s 4.99 for a cup much smaller than the one you get from the main squeeze.

    • Fitnessista on November 13, 2010 at 9:09 am

$4! and it was a huge one. main squeeze has great prices

  29. Barbara on November 11, 2010 at 11:10 pm

chloe is such a cutie. gina, you’re simply a wonderful chic.

  30. Laura on November 11, 2010 at 11:50 pm

    Hi Fitnessista,
I’m a newcomer to your blog and really enjoying it so far – thanks for the great tips!
I was wondering – what do you think of Crossfit? I think it would be great for my health and fitness, but I’m wondering if the intensity and the heavy weights would make me put on too much muscle…don’t get me wrong I’m mostly focused on feeling good and being healthy, but I still want to look feminine and lovely (like you !)
    Laura 🙂

  31. holly @ couchpotatoathlete.wordpress.com on November 12, 2010 at 12:25 am

You are so nice to take Chloe with you 🙂 Instead of Fitnessista maybe you should be Friend-to-all-animals-except-for-dinosaurs-ista?

oh – I hope they’re able to find Chloe’s family, poor little thing!

  33. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on November 12, 2010 at 7:37 am

Aww Chloe is such a cutie! It’s a good thing you found her. It’s so sad to see animals on the side of the road like that. 🙁

  34. Kimberly on November 12, 2010 at 7:42 am

You are a good person! What you did for Chloe was wonderful:)

  35. Leanne @ Simplicitlee on November 12, 2010 at 8:25 am

I hope you can find the puppers owners!!

  36. Faith @ lovelyascharged on November 12, 2010 at 8:31 am

Oh no, poor puppy! Last time I was in Orlando a puppy jumped out of the back of a truck on I-Drive and started running around in circles…three or four cars all stopped to try to help it and almost caused a huge accident! Thank goodness the dog got picked up and no cars wrecked, though!

  37. Dana Marie on November 12, 2010 at 8:50 am

Wow you are serious nomad! That bar looks good — you should do a recreate for the readers! I recently have been using millet per your switch for gluten free grains and am looking for different ideas to make it better. It’s not my favorite grain I have to admit, but i made a millet/butter beans and a vege bullion cube dish that was pretty good. And dont worry about replying to my email. My mom gave me numbers for people who were/are in the Coast Guard and I dont think it’s for me — I have to keep trying on the Performing arts! WAAY too much training and talent to lay to rest just yet — inner strength and me are one. PEACE

i totally agree with your madre 🙂

  38. Susan on November 12, 2010 at 9:12 am

Happy birthday Gina!!! It was great getting to hang out with you while in San Fran. Chloe is freakin’ adorable. I think I would have had a harder time not keeping her!

  39. Alyson on November 13, 2010 at 7:45 am

Happy Belated Birthday! I’m so happy you got to WF..I know what withdrawl feels like and nobody deserves that, especially on their birthday! 🙂

Happy Belated Birthday!! I’ll defnitely be celebrating my bday at Whole Foods as well 🙂
