Burgers in a Nest

Heyyyyy 😀 Happy Indian Food Wednesday! Who’s celebrating? I know this curry-loving cat is (thanks to the twitter friend who sent me the link!)

I have plans for a legendary Indian dinner- hopefully I’ll have time to hit up the grocery store so it can come to fruition.

Last night while watching GLEE, I munched burgers in a nest.

Remember how my last batch of brown rice burgers were an epic fail??

These ones came out AWESOME!

Maybe because I used the recipe from Eat, Drink and Be Vegan instead of the one from my brain 😉 Heh heh.

While eating these burgers, I came to the realization that I have a girl crush on Dreena Burton, the author of Eat, Drink and Be Vegan. I know nothing about her, have no clue what she looks like, but her recipes warm my soul. That’s all that matters, right??

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term girl crush, here’s the definition from the always profound UrbanDictionary.com:

1.
girl crush

feelings of admiration and adoration which a girl has for another girl, without wanting to shag said girl. a nonsexual attraction, usually based on veneration at some level.

Anywho, while I was eating the glorious brown rice burgers, I was snickering because the picture I was going to post would be this one:

When in reality, I burnt the dickens out of the bottom side.

Oops 😉

Blogging has definitely changed how I eat and present my food.

If I didn’t blog, I would:

-Pay no attention to presentation and would just plop whatever on a plate, scarf it down and get on with my day. It’s helped me to slow down, present my food in a more appealing way (also thanks to culinary school) and actually savor my meals. It’s always good to remember that we eat with our eyes first.

-Snack a lot more instead of having official “meals”. A bar here, slice of bread later, small salad, an apple, whatever I could scrounge up in between training appointments and teaching. It’s definitely made me focus more on having whole, complete meals.

– Probably eat the same thing every day. I’m totally a creature of habit and would have no prob eating the same thing for my meals and snacks every day. Another girl crush, Jessica Alba is rumored to eat the same thing every single day. Blogging has encouraged me to have more diversity with what I eat. Variety is the spice of life, yo 🙂

How has the blog world changed the way you eat?

And do you have a girl crush??

Jessica Alba is definitely up there, but Eva Mendes is number one 😉

eva

Well I’m off to shower my stinky post-Insanity workout face, PACK (for real this time! Haha) and then go to the eye doc before work. Ready, set, GO

xoxo,

Gina

You should totally try Thai curry…it’s the best! Zooey Deschanel has been a girl crush of mine for a couple years!

i’ve had panaang curry before- is that the same as thai curry??

      • La on April 21, 2010 at 10:42 pm

There are several kinds of Thai curry, based on the mixture of ingredients in the paste. Panang has peanuts and coconut, which makes it unique from other types of Thai curry.

Blogging has introduced so many foods and food combination I otherwise never would have tried, and I’m SO thankful for that. My girl crush would have to be Scarlet Johannson :p

My girl crush of the moment (and of the past few years as well. Don’t see this one ending!) is BETHANY JOY GALEOTTI of One Tree Hill. She is breathtakingly beautiful, super talented in many ways, she’s true to herself, she is an amazing role model and she’s extremely humble. She’s talented, famous, and wealthy yet her dream is to own an old red pick up truck and live on a farm with her husband raising tons of kids. I could go on and on about her. She’s pretty amazing.

Eva is definitely my #1 girl crush too.

OMG blogging has definitely changed the way I eat. Actually, READING blogs was what first did it, since I read before I started my own. We’re definitely a think-outside-of-the-box bunch when it comes to food, eh? 🙂

Oh, and SJP is my girl crush.

What is the name of those burgers by Dreena Burton? Spicoli burgers?

  8. Stefania on April 22, 2010 at 7:27 am

Are those Spicoli Burgers? If so, they’re a staple in my house. I bake them at 400 for 25 – 30 mins and I add the flour to the ingredients once they’re out of the fridge. Makes them easier to handle (don’t fall apart) and they’re great baked.
Dreena has idol status in our house too. We love all her recipes.

      hey stefania,
no they were the brown rice burgers (i think on page 125??)- i’ve made the spicoli ones though and they were amazing

  9. Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) on April 22, 2010 at 7:57 am

Megan Fox and Jessica Alba, for sure. 🙂

And are those the Spicoli burgers? Last time I made them they tasted like heaven but were a sloppy, slippery mess! As in, SO hard to cook!

I pay way more attention to food presentation now, although I don’t blog every meal so quite often I just throw some stuff in a bowl 😉

Gwen Stefani all the way. She just looks better and better with age, and she’s got the coolest clothes, coolest attitude, the cutest family, makes awesome music…okay, now I sound creepy. 🙂
I also think Marion Cotillard, Camille Belle and Freido Pinto are GORGEOUS. Oh, and I LOVE meryl streep and Julia Roberts. Okay, I have a lot of girl crushes.

    • Fitnessista on April 22, 2010 at 9:53 am

Ok, I read this and knew I had to comment! My girl crushes are: Giada De Laurentiis, Eva Mendes (for sure!), Angelina Jolie (met her in person and she’s as sweet as can be), the Olsens (more for their style), and Kim Kardashian. Please don’t judge too much…;p This was a fun question though.

Ha, this is so funny! I guess I would say I have a girl crush on you! I’ve already made a lot of really awesome changes in my life since I started reviewing your blog. Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but I’m pretty sure my bum and thighs are already more firm since last week!
Also a few authors. I’m kind of a nerd. =]
