Chips and Cookies

Hey! Happy INDIAN FOOD WEDNESDAY 😀 Hope your morning is going well!

Last night, I cozied up on the couch with the rest of the kale chips:

 chips

the puppers,

dogs

(Viesa looks so sneaky!)

and a documentary (The Business of Being Born—pretty fascinating stuff).

We crashed out and were awoken by the Pilot, who flew late last night and got home at 4:30am. Crazy! He’s catching up on zzzzz’s and I’m so glad he doesn’t have to fly late again tonight.

Bfast was the classic:

cookie

A breakfast cookie!

This beauty had:

oats,

almond butter + almond milk,

Sun Warrior protein,

goji berries and cacao nibs.

When I know a bfast cookie is waiting for me, I don’t press “Snooze” as many times 😉

Plan for the day:

Workout thang

-Tons of training appointments

Making coleslaw for the squadron BBQ tonight –I’ve never made coleslaw before so we’ll see how this goes…

-Late Indian food lunch with the pilot in between appts

Have a great day and I’ll see ya later this afternoon! <3

xoxo,

Gina

Something to talk about: If you could meet any celebrity chef or fitness guru, who would you want to meet? I’ve been thinking about this one because my friend Beth chatted it up with Tyler Florence yesterday. Cheffer-wise, I would LOVE to meet B-flizzle (aka Bobby Flay) or Paula Deen (she seems like so much fun), and fitness guru-wise, I would definitely want to meet Shaun T. 🙂

Chef wise I would want to meet Jose Andres, I live in DC and he’s got 5 restaurants here and they are ALL amazing!!! And he always seems so sweet and just loves food, especially tapas, which are my fav.

Fitness wise I would like to meet Bob from the Biggest Loser. He seems like such a sweet heart but when he means business there’s no stopping him. And he has influenced and changed so many lives it would be great to pick his brain.

I’m glad the Pilot is home. Scott was flying out (not his own airplane, just in one :)) about the time the Pilot was getting home. Sigh. I hope the two of you have a great day together after he wakes up!

Who would I like to meet…gosh, I have no idea?! Paula Deen, Ina Garten, Anthony Bourdin, Sarma, Matthew K, Ani, Dreena, you name it, I’d love to meet them!

As far as Chef of Choice- Gosh that is so hard. I would love to meet Paula Dean, Rick Bayless, Bethenny Frankel (I know you either love her or hate her but I like her philosophy) and Art Smith (total hoot).

Fitness wise I think I would love to meet Jackie Warner. How obvious is right now what a Bravo junkie I am?

  9. Charlie@CharlieGirlBlog on July 21, 2010 at 1:23 pm

I’d meet Tony Bourdain and Jamie Oliver. And…I loved “The Business of Being Born”. It made me and my husband cry like 3 times (don’t tell) — it’s so amazing to bring a life into the world, and it always makes me emotional to see. I don’t want to have my baby at home, but I also want to have some control over the birthing process..it was fascinating.

    Enjoy your Indian food!

So far I have met Martin Yan, Tyler Florence (twice), Alton Brown, Sarah Moulton, and Michelle Bernstein (although I’m not sure if she is considered a “celebrity” chef). Next on my list are Giada, Cat Cora, and Curtis Stone. I <3 Curtis Stone. 😉

I’m a big fan of the Neely’s – less for the food, more because they seem to enjoy cooking and each other so very much….I’d also be down to hang with Shiva Rea. Sometimes, I turn on her yoga DVDs and just stare at the strength and awesomeoness that is that woman.

  13. Gracie @ Girl Meets Health on July 21, 2010 at 2:31 pm

I would totally pick Paula Deen. I want her to be my grandmother!! Oh, and Rocco DiSpirito just because he’s hotness =)

  14. Carly (Swim, Run, Om) on July 21, 2010 at 2:34 pm

I met Paula Deen once! She’s an absolute sweetheart. Her husband was there, too, and just stood back beaming. They look like Mr. and Mrs. Claus!

    Fitness-wise … probably Jelena Abbou. I think she’s gorgeous!

  23. Liz @ Tip Top Shape on July 21, 2010 at 4:56 pm

Indian Food Wednesday!! I definitely had some with my friend to celebrate 😀 If I could meet any celebrity chef it would be Giada De Laurentiis or Bobby Flay. I pretty much love them. Food Network had some Christmas special where both of them cooked together in her kitchen. Most amazing ten minutes, haha. I have to say that for fitness I am with you for Shaun T. I remember doing his hip hop abs in high school and basically falling in love, lol.

  24. ashley on July 21, 2010 at 5:15 pm

I’ve really got to try those breakfast cookies one of these days! I’ve actually seen that documentary and was really fascinated with all the info too. Very interesting!

  25. Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) on July 21, 2010 at 5:18 pm

If I could meet a celeb chef… I would love to meet Heidi Swanson (ok, not a huge celeb, but shes pretty famous in the foodie world!) or Gordon Ramsay. Because he’s amazing, and I want to see if he’s really an asshole 😉

    Oh, and Jillian. Hands down.

    Whoo Indian food post!

  28. Teresa on July 21, 2010 at 7:20 pm

Dude, I don’t even plan on getting married, nonetheless having kids, but I absolutely loved “The Business of Being Born.” I probably wouldn’t have even watched it a few years ago, but I’m singing it’s praises now. I happened to be with my aunt throughout her entire labor and birth of my cousin at the hospital. While it was amazing the whole giving birth thang, I was entirely uncomfortable and unhappy with the hospital experience. So unhelpful and soo sanitary (in a bad way). Plus the doctor left 2 golf ball sized pieces of gauze inside my aunt, who experienced much pain from them and was told the pain was “normal.” She finally went in after TWO weeks and they basically just said “oops.” Ugh, it’s terrible. Ok but now I’ve probably gotten too graphic. But anyways, would love to hear your commentary.

I’ve already met my celebrity dream chef twice! Any Phyo is a goddess, really. I know you’ve met her too. I love how connected she is to her readers. I’d also love to meet Julia Child back in the 50’s or 60’s.

    • Fitnessista on July 21, 2010 at 10:11 pm

whoa that is CRAZY. in a crazy terrible horrific kind of way. i think it’s important for women to watch films like these and know that they can have more control over what happens during a birth
and yes, ani phyo is a goddess 🙂

  29. andrenna on July 21, 2010 at 7:43 pm

i’d want to meet shaun t., too. hehe. today was the first time i’ve seen him in tights and it was HIIIILARIOUS. i couldn’t take him seriously!

  30. Kaitlin With Honey on July 21, 2010 at 8:42 pm

    Jillian Michaels! I love her.

  31. Alexis {Mission: Ambition} on July 22, 2010 at 3:16 pm

Which fitness guru would I like to meet is a super easy question. CHALENE JOHNSON! I absolutely adore her.

I would like to meet Shaun T as well…I just want to touch his abs, lol.

  32. Brynne on July 24, 2010 at 9:08 pm

Bethenny! She’s a chef … and awesome and named her daughter Bryn .. which is close enough to mine!
