Creepy Crawlies

Shall I post the picture of the creepy crawly before or after the breakfast pic? Let’s do after… I don’t want you to lose your appetite 😉

Hi! Happy Friday! Hope your morning is going well <3

I woke up bright and early to bust out a TurboFire workout before starting the day’s to-dos.

turbo

[No TV in the bedroom, so I use the laptop for DVD workouts]

I’m itching for a weights sesh, but this way if the day gets away from me, I have my cardio done 🙂 [I like to split up cardio and weights]

For bfast, I combined 1/3 C oats, 2 T Chia Goodness, 1/2 a scoop Sun Warrior and cinnamon in a glass

cup

then added coconut milk, half a banana, some blueberries and an almond butter drizzle.

chia

Breakfast perfection.

Ok, so now that I showed ya that, I can tell you about the creepy crawly that was in our garage last night.

scorpion

A SCORPION!!!!!!
*shrieks*

The Pilot found that thing while he was getting paint out of the garage and trapped him in a basket. And then he killed him :/

I usually hate killing creepy crawlies, but scorpions are no joke. Good thing little Bell wasn’t the one to find him.

Time to seize the day over here 😉

See ya this afternoon! <3

xoxo

Thinking about my friends on the East coast- stay safe this weekend!

Today’s workout jam: “Shake Senora” Pitbull ft T Pain (using this for Zumba warm-up tomorrow- LOVE it. But I love anything Pitbull)

Have you heard the song “Rabiosa” by Pitbull and Shakira? I have a Jazzercise routine to it and I love it!!

  2. Jenn (eating bender) on August 26, 2011 at 3:10 pm

I definitely thought it was going to be a scorpion or tarantula — and I almost couldn’t look! Having seen both up close and personal, I know they are no joke! **shivers**

We had a bobcat on our porch last weekend. 🙂 Gotta love AZ wildlife!

  3. Lindsey @ SoundEats on August 26, 2011 at 3:16 pm

Oh goodness, about a month ago, Ross got stung by a scorpion THREE times on his chest! (Fortunately poisonous species are only in AZ.) We think he may have crawled into our suitcase after NC this summer, but it was in his shirt (while he was wearing it) and the little bugger got him three times before Ross got him. He still has sting marks and I still get the heebie jeebies when I look at them. :-/

I honestly thought you were going to show some crazy 16 legged thing…but a scorpion is much more scary! Yikes!! Ok..this may be a dumb question, but how exactly did he kill the scorpion? I would leave it in a jar to die…I know, that’s really mean :S

  5. Cait @ Beyond Bananas on August 26, 2011 at 3:29 pm

Ah! What a creepy little bugger! We have had tons of thousand leggers poppIng up in our place! Like…when I fInished going to the bathroom I wentto flush and one was just chillin in the bOwl

  6. Christine @ Merf In Progress on August 26, 2011 at 3:39 pm

Whoa, that scorpion would freak me the funk OUT!

  7. Gina @ Running to the Kitchen on August 26, 2011 at 3:43 pm

I thought roaches were the ultimate gross “bug” but scorpions may be worse! Thankful I don’t live in the desert now!

  8. Kelly on August 26, 2011 at 3:48 pm

I just ordered TurboFire yesterday. I have about zero rhythm so I’m hoping I can do this. Anyway, I’m hoping for a great workout. I enjoyed P90X but missed me some cardio. This should do the trick. I’m going to have to go back through your blog for the posts on TF. BTW – I would have FREAKED OUT with the scorpion.

  9. Toni on August 26, 2011 at 3:53 pm

Have you done or could you do a review of Turbo Fire? I love Turbo Jam and have been thinking of investing in Turbo Fire.

    • Marie on August 26, 2011 at 7:50 pm

I second this comment! (or if you’ve already reviewed, please just point us in the right direction!) And your personal pregnancy modifications would be great to hear too. Thanks!

Scorpions, black widows, snakes..they all make me SHUDDER!

You’d think that after living in warm weather states, i.e. NC, SC, AZ, and CA and owning a home in the Caribbean I’d be “used to” creepy crawlies and I don’t shriek or jump anymore. But I also don’t feel bad about killing them.

I have a friend who’s lost part of her leg!!! from a black widow bite. They are no joke.

Glad you got the scorpion…out! And that everyone is safe!

  11. Minnooo on August 26, 2011 at 4:37 pm

Ackkkk! Thank you for displaying your beautiful breakfast before the infestation. Um, I’m not sure I could deal with scorps in my life.

  12. Laura @ prettylittlewords on August 26, 2011 at 4:39 pm

*shudder* I just had to hold back the voms. ICK!!!!

  17. April @ Grits and Granola Bars on August 26, 2011 at 6:53 pm

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh…that is not okay. I cannot even express how disturbed I would be if I encountered that thing!

  18. Dee on August 26, 2011 at 7:05 pm

You squished my sun sign symbol. As would I have! No. I would be too scared to squish it so I would have to get my version of the pilot to do it!

  19. Moni'sMeals on August 26, 2011 at 7:33 pm

yikes is right! Forget it all, I am out of here with the looks of that thing. The only cool think about a Scorpion is the band, see ya later!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  20. Kelsey @ Snacking Squirrel on August 26, 2011 at 7:42 pm

i smile every time i see a parfait, or really any sort of breakfast in a glass! is that the same glass as the one with water in it you have beside your laptop? if so, that deserves some extra “brownie points” don’t ya think? hehe <3

I’m in DC and hoping we don’t get hit too hard! For crying out loud, we just had an earthquake on Wednesday albeit small but still! We East Coast folks are not used to this kind of weather!

  22. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on August 26, 2011 at 8:20 pm

Eek I can’t believe you just have scorpions crawling around over there! And I thought centipedes were bad…

  23. Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun on August 26, 2011 at 8:27 pm

I always love splitting cardio and weights too. Much more effective to me. And EEEEK on the scorpion. That would freak me the heck out.

  24. Kristin on August 26, 2011 at 8:46 pm

I have found the only true way to avoid scorpions in AZ is to live in Downtown Phoenix where they don’t live anymore. Sadly, I will still encounter the scorpions hiking in the wilderness of AZ, you gotta love the crazy bugs and wildlife that you find in this state. Even the landscape can be crazy. I have a friend that calls AZ desert plants A$$hole$ since they always try to beat you up. Glad you killed the scorpion and didn’t get stung in the process.

  25. Ali @ urbanfruitbat on August 26, 2011 at 9:07 pm

YIKES! I am really not one to be afraid of bugs or the like, but I think even I would be a bit squeemish if I saw a scorpion! Good thing you have the big, strong Pilot to protect you!

  26. Dana Marie on August 26, 2011 at 9:46 pm

    special hurricane victim request!:::
Ok so the city that never sleeps is shutting down the whole subway system, broadway and libraries ALL weekend
my work got cancelled and needless to say the weekend will be a wash – and the storm while likely rainy will not warrant all these costly closures –
Can you post extra this weekend? We need entertainment! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on August 26, 2011 at 10:06 pm

      that’s crazy!!
i’ll try – mother in law will be here and party and sunday, but i’ll be sure to keep ya all updated 😀

  27. Michelle on August 26, 2011 at 10:43 pm

O.M.G. That scorpion is no joke – I’m not sure what I would do if I saw that thing. Here in NYC, I’ve been known to shriek when I saw a little teeny mouse run through my apartment, I would probably have a heart attack if I saw that!

I added that Shake Senora remix to my class playlist this week and they LOVED it. But, like you, I think that Pitbull can do no wrong, especially when it comes to Zumba tunes 😉

  28. Danielle Spellman @Squirrel Snackin' on August 27, 2011 at 12:41 am

The scariest creepy crawly/flying creature was in my house yesterday too! A giant black wasp that looked like a half spider! So not ok..lol. Of course I blogged about it too. 🙂 http://squirrelsnackin.blogspot.com/2011/08/to-sum-up-today-and-yesterday-im-still.html

  29. Tara @ Sweat like a Pig on August 27, 2011 at 3:07 am

OMG how terrifying. I’ve only seen a scorpion once, and it was thankfully just a baby one. We get a lot worse creepy crawlies here in Australia, though. My husband is terrified of spiders and refuses to deal with any that come into our house. Lucky me!!

    • Reader on August 27, 2011 at 4:59 am

the babies are what you want to watch out for!

  32. Molly on August 27, 2011 at 2:42 pm

Do you do cardio everyday? And weights every over day? How does that work for you?

    • Fitnessista on August 27, 2011 at 3:47 pm

i do cardio 5-6 times a week and weights 2-3 times a week

  33. Molly L on August 27, 2011 at 5:59 pm

YIKES! I live in Phx (I went to UA and miss Tucson SO MUCH, so I love reading about your life in Tucson ha!) and just had a serrrrriously close encounter with a scorpion last week. I was in my kitchen standing when I felt what I thought was a clump of dog hair maybe blow up on my ankle… after a few seconds I looked down and saw a scorpion crawling on my ankle!!! I shook my ankle, and it jumped off… no sting but AHHH! They are NO JOKE!

  34. Allison on August 27, 2011 at 7:12 pm

I would have absolutely freaked out if I saw that thing! Thank goodness we have our men to take care of those kinda thing :-S

Gina, I read all of your posts but this is one I kinda wish I hadn’t. The scorpion freaked me out! Thank god I live in the UK. Thanks for sharing 😉 The smoothie did kind of make up for it though 🙂
