Day of Sun

Perfect way to spend a Sunday morning <3

Sabino canyon3

I woke up a little groggy and super sore from teaching yesterday, so the Pilot suggested Sabino Canyon, for the first time in my life, I felt kind of “meh” about it.

I quickly changed my mind.

Sabino canyon2

The weather was absolutely gorgeous and we ending up walking for about an hour. It felt good to shake my legs out, chat with the Pilot and listen to Livi making up a song in the stroller.

Even saw a little prairie dog, happily munching some nacho Doritos.

It might be a pancake morning, and then I’m going to make a boatload of sangria and some fruit tarts to take to a BBQ this afternoon.

Some of yesterday’s pics and adventures:

Transferring my stuff from Pinkie to the Mac (which needs a name!)

Transferring

iCloud is brilliant. It’s going to be magical to download a song on my phone and see it on the computer.

A few of you have asked how I like it so far after being a PC girl for my entire life. I needed something that wasn’t on life support to upload my blog posts and Pinkie was permanently attached to the ethernet cord and had no memory left. Pinkie had a long life -3 years!- but it was time to move on. I was scared because with the phone debate, everyone said to get an iPhone instead of a new Blackberry -I’ve always been a Bberry fan- and I bit the bullet and still miss my Blackberry. Yes, the iPhone apps are cool, but I hate typing on it, I hate Autocorrect and I miss how easily I could respond to emails on the Bberry. As far as the computer goes, I love it. I thought there would be a huge learning curve, but it’s surprisingly intuitive so far, and MarsEdit is very similar to Live Writer for blogging. For now, I really like it and I’m excited to see how I can edit workout videos and files with the different software.

#smoothieaday from Jamba Juice:

Jamba

Meg brought it over when I got off work yesterday: apples n’ greens.

It was even better than the carrot one I tried a couple of weeks ago! Not too sweet and I love that they add spirulina to it. The Pilot busted me yesterday and said, “whatever happened to smoothie a day??”

“I’ve been drinking a smoothie a day! Want me to make you one?”

“You haven’t posted smoothies at all lately.”

Oops. Hi, slacker.

I made some guacamole to go with Mary’s Crackers when Kyle and Meg came over last night to watch the Celtics game:

Guac

They ordered pizza, salad and wings,

and the Pilot stayed here with them to watch the game while I put Liv to bed and met up with the girls at Guadalajara Grill.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far!

xoxo,

Gina

Something to talk about: Do you have a designated “rest day” each week, or does it change? Sunday is pretty much always a rest day over here, or I’ll just take a yoga class or go for a walk. Speaking of, we have a little Bell over here who needs to get the crazies out. Even though she chases lizards every day, she’s happier when she gets a walk through the neighborhood.

Mars edit you say? I must check it out I HATE typing blog posts right in word press and hadn’t found a good mac substitute for WLW. Now I’m excited!

I love my iphone, but still have a pc. And you know, you can disable the auto-correct on your iphone, I hate that thing too!
Sounds like your Sunday is going great! And here is the same thing, Sunday is usually definitely a rest day. Although we spent the morning today cleaning the garage, which ended up being a good activity for us 🙂

I know my 12 yr old showed me how to disable autocorrect. It was annoying.

I would totally trade my blackberry for your iPhone

    • Fitnessista on May 27, 2012 at 2:53 pm

      done and done 😉

Sunday is usually a yoga day but I’m home for the weekend in Central California and my Mom is dedicated to her gym, so I worked out with her today. She’s in better shape than me, it’s amazing and inspiring!

My mom and I are making strawberry daquaries today. I have never had one before so I am excited to try them!

I hated the iphone because the Google maps app sucks!

Ohh thanks for the tip about MarsEdit, I’ve been looking for a good blogging tool for my Mac!

3 years is pretty good for a PC-notebook. You will get 4-5 years off your Macbook though, easy! I bought the cheapest model of the white Macbook over 4 years ago, and it still works really well. It may be a bit slow at some points, but for what I use the ‘puter for, it still works fine! Unlike my last PC laptop that sucked big time after the first year!

I hated the blackberry! I hated twitter and FB on it. Yes the email is faster/better, but it kinda helps with my smart-phone addiction 🙂

Oooh, I should try out Mars Edit. I’ve just been using wordpress and its definitely not the greatest. I usually do have a designated rest day at least once per week, and if I feel tired I’ll most likely take an extra day.

What about “The Brain” as your new mac’s name, as a follow on from Pinkie?

    • Fitnessista on May 27, 2012 at 5:10 pm

i love that! especially because the pilot and i call each other “brain.” we’re weird like that

  11. Shari on May 27, 2012 at 5:01 pm

I’m glad I’m not the only one who names computers! My original laptop was Marge and the new MacBook is Goldie … she needed an Apple-esque name 😉

Nothing better than a nice walk with the hubs while baby is in the stroller occupying herself. Being able to chat and catch up on things with my husband is the best part of walking 🙂 I can talk his ear off for miles and miles. Lol

I still need to sign up for icloud, so glad to hear you like it!! and so happy you are a MAC girl now 😉
I feel the same with you about iphones and blackberry, I could text and all so much better on my old blackberry, but I do LOVE my iphone.

  14. mary on May 27, 2012 at 7:33 pm

As a Bberry user, I’m happy to hear that! I keep wondering if my life would be better with an iPhone but the Bberry is paid for by my work, so I think I’ll stick to it! I do think a physical keyboard is nice. I just had this discussion with my iPod Touch-loving daughter and she wound up agreeing with me, when I got her a phone with a keyboard.

I love Mary’s crackers! The sesame seeds are perfect at adding flavor and not over powering the cracker. I will definitely have to try them with guacamole, looks like a perfect pair!

  17. Brenda on May 28, 2012 at 9:25 am

Did you just say Celtics game? I didn’t know you two were fans. I live in RI which is next door to MA in case you didn’t know. Lots of people don’t know about RI since it’s the smallest state. Anyway, we go to games all the time. I LOVE the Celtics! It’s awesome that someone who lives in AZ is also a fan (if in fact you are).

    • Fitnessista on May 28, 2012 at 12:00 pm

yes, my brother LOVES the celtics! i like them too 🙂

  18. Meg on May 28, 2012 at 2:58 pm

Right now, my training split is 5 days per week and I was taking my two rest days back to back, but then I felt way too sore after my chest workouts to do back, so now my rest days have been pretty consistent – Saturdays and Wednesdays. It’s what works best for me 🙂 Glad to hear you are liking your Mac babe! I just got mine in March and love it too. I thought it would take me such a long time to get used to it, but I was wrong! It’s so user friendly!

P.s. I mentioned you in my post on Friday 🙂 http://adashofmeg.com/2012/05/25/high-five-friday-15-getting-bigger/ xoxo

thank you for the shout out!

I just switched to a Mac laptop too. I have a Droid phone though, & don’t think I’ll be switching to iPhone…unless of course I get convinced that I HAVE to.

  20. Sarah on May 29, 2012 at 7:07 am

How about calling the new computer “Mac Daddy”. It is kind of gangster, but fits the Gina attitude 🙂

  21. Molly L on February 28, 2013 at 3:40 pm

I got my current macbook in May 2009, so almost four years ago, and it works the same as it did the day I got it. I got my first mac laptop in May 2005, and it STILL works perfectly (although it is definitely slower). I still like to pull it out from time to time to marvel at how well it still works haha. Long story short, your macbook will last for yearrrrrrrs. Best investment ever.

    • Fitnessista on February 28, 2013 at 10:39 pm

i’m so glad to hear that! i’m loving my mac so far
