Dinner by roomie

Hey guys! How was your day? I’m writing this post after multiple a couple of cocktails so please excuse the impending typos 😉

After lounging by the pool and reading Twilight (I decided to finally re-read the series), I came home and made a salad beast.

008

Greens, spinach, bell pepper, lemon juice, flax oil, hemp seeds, grape tomatoes, sea salt, pepper and goat cheese mountain.

I was planning on taking a vinyasa class before teaching spin, but then I fell asleep on the couch because the pilot came home early. He makes me comfy and lazy sometimes 😉 So after I woke up from my little nap (sleep has been the theme of the day!), I grabbed a mango

010

and taught a glorious spin class 😀

When I got home, Megan was making dinner for us!

We had three recipes from Sarma’s new cookbook

Cucumber-mint gazpacho

013

Herbal guacamole and spicy jicama in romaine

014

And while she was making those beautiful raw creations, I made the cocktail (also from Sarma’s book)

011

Yuzu-Melon cooler

012

It had cantaloupe juice, organic sake, lemon juice (the recipe called for yuzu but said that we could substitute lemon juice instead), agave and cilantro.

Ahhhhhmazing. It also went straight to my brain after teaching spin. Yikers :/

It was a gorgeous and delicious meal 😀 THANK YOU MEGALS!

Well we’re going to take these puppies out, finish watching Dark Knight (which gives me the heeby jeebies) and call it a night. Here’s hoping I can crawl out of bed on time tomorrow!

xoxo,

G

Sounds like you've got the perfect roomie! I still need to try making saketinis at home. I've had them in Japanese restaurants, but have yet to buy sake for myself.

I made your slow cooker cacciatore and had it for dinner the past two nights. Loved it! My momma did too. 🙂 Thanks for posting the quick recipe!

Yum the cocktail sounds delicious (and the food!). I have been thinking about re-reading New Moon before the movie comes out. Maybe I should just re-read the whole series too!

That cocktail looks delish….well worth the cookbook just to get that little piece of inspiration! I hope you don't have any more red wine/bad dream episodes with the sake creation!

    Hi Gina,
I'm uncomfortable with the following question–you're such a dear for taking our questions–, so please excuse the "Anonymous" moniker.
I got my body fat % tested today at a fancy gym whose electric scale is presumably accurate. I felt like it'd be fairly low as I'm pretty slender and I workout frequently. It was 8.9% and this number has me concerned that its too low. I can say that I do not menustrate. Any thoughts? Thank you so much! I have spent waaaay too much time researching this on the internet, admittedly not the best source, and I am very confused.

Dont you just love Twilight? I didnt love the movie so much but it is growing on me and now I am looking forward to seeing New Moon when it comes out.

I have not had too many raw dinners but I want to start adding more of them into my diet. Yours meals looked yum.

That soup is on my list for lunches this week! Sounds like such a good day – exercise, rest, snoozing and seriously good eats. Nice 🙂

Yum i have been meaning to try that gazpacho for a while now and yours looks so tasty 🙂

  18. Anna on August 5, 2009 at 8:41 am

Are you drogging…? Haha love it.

That din looks incredible- how nice of her to cook for you!

That cocktail looks so refreshing! I could have used one of those when we were sitting out on the patio last night. 🙂

  20. Pam (Highway to Health) on August 5, 2009 at 9:01 am

Wow what an amazing dinner!! You are lucky to have a great roomy.

  21. Fitnessista on August 5, 2009 at 9:11 am

hey anon- honestly, i don't find those scales to be very accurate. if you're dehydrated, overhydrated, consumed a lot of sodium, just ate a meal– these can all affect the body fat percentage that's displayed. the best method of testing body fat is using the calipers. ask a trainer at the gym if they can test it that way for you.
i will tell you that 8% is definitely too low. essential body fat for women is 10-12% percent but if you don't want to mess with your baby-making ability, you want it to be more about 18-20%. after you're done having children, it's ok to get it a little lower, but i wouldn't recommend anything below 14%.
i would ask a trainer to test your body fat with the calipers and then meet with a nutritionist/rd to see what steps need to be taken with your eating and workout regimen to get your body fat back in the green area.
    hope this helps a little!

Hope you made it out of bed on time this morning!

Last week I found goat jack on sale at the health food store so I snatched it up, remembering how much you rave about it all the time, and OH MAN is it ever good!!! It makes the BEST paninis, with grilled veggies and everything…OH MAN.

I just finished re-reading the series…..I didn't give in to the Twlight craze until I happened to catch Twlight on my dish earlier this summer, then I read the entire series and just finshed it up AGAIN this weekend haha.

    That cookbook seems awesome!
