I took a hula hoop class this morning!

Let’s be real here, hula hopping is not my jam. Growing up, I was the kid who would bashfully spin the hoop around my hips and watch in dismay as it spun towards the floor. The only hoops I do well with are of the earring variety Winking smile

Anyway, hula hopping today was a lot of fun! Surprisingly, I managed to hoop a little with minimal awkwardness. Winking smile

Breakfast:

Same gluten-free pancakes with peanut butter fluff that I munched the other day. They were just as delish as I remembered them Smile

This afternoon, I went with a work friend to walk around La Encantada and surprise shoppers with complimentary yoga passes.

La Encantada is a BEAUTIFUL outdoor shopping mall. They have a lot of my fave stores (Antro, VS, Tiffany, LV, Williams Sonoma, Crate & Barrel) and are pet-friendly. Double lurve.

Of course, I made a stop at AJs Fine Foods to make eyes at the dessert counter.

    This is one thing I love about the lululemon manifesto even though I don’t push myself at all. Other than marathon running/training, I rarely do things that really scare me. I guess I really like my comfort zone. 🙂

    I drove to school (45 mins away) in the dark. I know that doesn’t sound SO scary, but i am petrified of driving at night… especially along that stretch of roads, it’s all farmland FULL of tons of deer.

    I’ve taken a hula hoop class before and it’s actually fun! A little goofy but it’s a different ab workout.
    I actually just did some much needed 3 miles of speed work and it was on the treadmill- double score. While it didn’t scare me, it wasn’t something I ever looked forward to but I’m glad I did it.

    I taught my first university class in front of 15 people. Doesn’t sound too intense but considering my intense fear of public speaking, it was a major step outside my comfort zone. Have fun at the wedding!

    “hula hopping is not my jam.”—Oh, I love how you put that! So cute 🙂 I used to love it as a kid, I was really good! I tried again in my mid 20s (kinda a drunk dare thing)…and I couldnt get that hoop spinning too well. Not sure if it was the alcohol or the lack of practice or whatever..haha

    Any mall with a LV, Tiffany, W.Sonoma, C & B, Anthro, is a mall I love! There’s one like that about 4 mins from my house in San Diego. It’s dangerous$$ It’s outdoors, too!

    I have stepped outta my comfort zone by deciding to make a blog change. I was wondering if you’re happy with your hosting, site designer, and all that jazz. I know you’re super busy but if you have a second, I was going to email you a couple questions about that kind of stuff.

    hula hoop?! FUN. well i guess tonight i’m going out. not really out the total comfort zone but lately i’ve been feeling like a homebody and i need to push myself to go out and be social

    I actually applied to take continued education classes this winter, working towards getting a certificate that would apply to my job and some of my goals regarding future employment. I wasn’t really good in school (worked my bootay off, rarely slacked, but had a learning disorder and extreme test anxiety which affected my grades unfortunately), and after many nights crying wondering if I can do this, I finally put my big girl panties on and said I’m going to do it! 🙂 I couldn’t be more excited! And incredibly scared at the same time.

    Like, hula hooping is an actual exercise class?? no way! that’s rad! i just got out of my comfort zone and made miso/seaweed soup for the first time. never had anything of the fermented/seaweed variety before but i *loved* it! 🙂

    I would say the biggest thing I’ve done outside my comfort zone is to try new foods. I was completely content with eating the same thing day after day. Experimenting with new flavors and textures has been really rewarding!

    Yum Trader Joe’s lunch! Don’t love their sushi, but their salads and go-to quick foods are great!! I’m off to sushi tonight as well, can’t wait – lurve it!!

    So fun handing out free yoga passes – I’m sure they were well received!
    Recently… I started a new relationship, a lil bit scary lol! ;P

    I made a trifle today which was kind of out of my zone but the outcome was awesome and gluten free! 🙂 I have a weighted hula hoop but I barely use it cause it bruises the heck out my hip bones.

    First of all, I always say that stuff is or is not “the jam”, in the parlance of our times (quick, what movie does “parlance of our times” reference? earlier you gave a shout out to adam sandler’s finer years, and now i’m giving a nod to a fave of mine, savvy?)

    Second, that is awesome that you hula hooped, and it made me think of skip-its! Remember those? Once I finish commenting, I am immediately going to google “skip it on a treadmill” and see if anything comes up 🙂

    Last, but certainly not least, I’m so happy for you that the move went smoothly and that all seems to be working out lovely.

    Lately, I’ve been trying to really put myself out there when it comes to my acting/modeling career. Sometimes it’s tough to ask people for things, but I’m learning it’s something that’s absolutely necessary in this, and many other, industries. I’m looking forward to making an inspiration board for 2011!

    I always sucked at hula hooping too. 😛 But I bet it’s a killer ab workout!

    I went for my first winter run and I was scared I would find it too hard to run in the snow, but it ended up being awesome!

    I have trouble knowing WHAT to do when I am trying to lose weight. There are so many different opinions out there on what the best activity is to lose weight. It’s overwhelming!

    I love weddings!! I haven’t really done anything outside of my comfort zone for awhile. I used to fly planes a couple of years ago until something scary happened and I quit. I think I was enough out of my comfort zone to keep me good for awhile .:)

      Hey girl, if you have itunes, just type in “power yoga” or “hatha yoga” or whatever type you fancy and a boat load of podcasts will turn up. If not, I recommend Dave Farmar or Yoga Journal. 🙂

    2 things.
    1 – that hula hoop class looks fun!
    2 – may I ask why you eat gluten free things? I feel like all of a sudden everything is eating gluten free? I don’t understand the trend of the health benefits. Let me know if I’m missing out on something here haha

      i’m gluten intolerant and have known for a couple of months. i started to get emails from people when i didn’t label things as gluten-free, so i’ve been labeling them as that

    Last night I went out with the guy I just started dating and a bunch of his friends to see Black Swan and grab a drink. It was pretty awkward at first because EVERYONE knew each other and I was just the bashful chick in the corner, but it ended up being a bueno night. 🙂

    Yesterday I went on a run at sunrise in the desert. I have been trying to go later in the day when rattlesnakes aren’t supposedly feeding, but it just gets too hot!

    Kudos on the hula hooping! I was definitely one of those kids that also would watch the hoop fall after a couple of spins.

    I’m with some of the other girls…. the daunting task of Christmas shopping scared me, but I got most of it done today! You have often said shopping can count for cardio and judging by my level of exhaustion right now, I’m going to say yes… yes it does. : )

    I have been to TJ’s many times, but have yet to try their to-go lunch options. I need to do that!

    I got a hula hoop with a Lucy order last year, but didn’t think I’d get much use out of it so I sold it. I think a whole class of hula hooping could be VERY tiring!

    Hmmm I don’t know if this is stepping outside but I’m just starting Insanity and a liiiiitle scared about it. lol I took the fit test last night…OY!
