A cupcake from THE TWINS! I was so happy to see their beautiful faces again 😀 They stopped by and stayed for a night on their way to Florida and we stayed up until 2am chatting and drinking some of this:

Drinkies

vinoooo

Red vino 😀

I had a blasty hanging out with them -sorry for no pics, they left early this morning and I was groggy and in my jammies when I said goodbye.

But here’s a blast from the past:

twins

And they were so sweet to bring me a bunch of goodies to try! I’ll be indulging in many Pure2Raw treats in the near future 😀

I have to tell ya that the lemon cupcake (pic above) was absolutely delicious. The pilot and I couldn’t believe that it was gluten-free, egg-free, dairy-free, soy-free and peanut-free because it was the lightest, moistest and fluffiest thing. If you or anyone you know has food allergies, definitely check out their bakery website!

So my running plans for today were squashed due to the crazy rain we’re having, so I’ll be hitting up the revolving apparatus of death (treadmill), and working on that project that’s taking FOREVER!

But first, shopping with Jeni 😉

See ya tonight!

xoxo,

Gina

  13. Katie on November 22, 2009 at 5:27 pm

The Twins are adorable as is that cupcake!

How did you make your artichoke dip w/o cheese and mayo? I love the stuff, but obviously it’s usually not vegan friendly.

    • Fitnessista on November 22, 2009 at 5:56 pm

it’s super easy- the recipe is in eat, drink and be vegan but it’s basically artichokes, garlic, lemon, olive oil, salt, pepper and herbs

    dear gina,

i’ve recently started becoming more and more vegetarian-cutting out red meat/chicken. but, i’m having a hard time getting enough protein. i eat lotts of veggies and fruit, but i am lost when it comes to getting enough protein. i’m really tired of relying on nut butters/nuts for protein. its making me gain weight and feel lethargic. i would love it if you gave me some good protein sources you eat regularly that aren’t nut-based!

    thanks!

    • Fitnessista on November 22, 2009 at 7:47 pm

      hey jackie,
that’s why i upped my egg/goat cheese/fish intake– i wasn’t getting nearly enough protein for my active lifestyle on a vegan diet. it is possible for many people, but wasn’t working well for me. i would recommend those 3 if you still eat eggs/fish/cheese, and if not, brown rice protein (sun warrior) and hemp protein are excellent sources.
      hope this helps a little!

      • Jackie on November 22, 2009 at 8:09 pm

Ok, sounds great that really helps! Do you eat tofu? I try to, but it’s such a pain to make and no one in my family likes it! I have Jarrow’s formula brown rice protein…what makes Sun Warrior better?

thanks so much for the advice, i will follow it!

        • Fitnessista on November 22, 2009 at 8:20 pm

sun warrior is good because its raw, but any brand should be fine
no i don’t eat tofu as i try to avoid most soy products, but its a great source of protein as well. try getting the silken kind and adding it to smoothies, or adding sweetener and fruit to make a “pudding” 😀
