End of the world?

Hi friends 😀 How are you? Hope you had a wonderful day!

(What is that little funny thing? He hitched a ride on my mirror, so I took a pic)

My day was good, but emotionally and mentally exhausting, which is why I’m finally just now blogging. Also why I’m going to save my “plateau post” until next week- hope that’s cool <3

So have you heard about all of the “end of the world” stuff?

image

That’s how I roll. Of course I don’t really believe in all of that mumbo jumbo –I think if the world is going to end we probably won’t know about it in advance- and anyway, if that were the actual case, I’d be doing way crazier things. You know, like drinking caffeine past 5pm and accidentally-on-purpose forgetting to put in my dentures.

Since my 2pm thing ran much longer than anticipated, there was no way I was making dinner.

So somehow, I ended up at La Parrilla 😉

photo (27)

There food is *usually* SO good, but we’ve been having probs lately. The past 3 times, they’ve messed up my order…. I hope it’s not going downhill!

When it was finally right, it was oh so right.

Green corn tamale, beans with no cheese, green salsa, guacamole.

I came home, started to clean so it’s nice and shiny when you-know-who arrives, and decided to make a treat to be waiting for the Pilot. I debated between red velvet and cheesecake, and then realized what he’d probably want to have more than anything.

cake

You can find the recipe *here*- it takes maybe 5 minutes to put together and only uses a few ingredients.

(The ice cream is for topping 🙂 I cheated and bought GF cake mix so when I sneak bites, it won’t be a big deal haha)

If it is the end of the world, at least I got to watch my favorite episode of Sex and the City one more time

Bella enjoyed some vanilla ice cream

and I just hope it waits until the afternoon, so my favorite person in the world will be holding me 🙂

See you tomorrow!

Something to talk about: What did you do tonight? Was your evening as crazy as mine? 😉

Ooh is that a dump cake? I just love those — and it uses a whole stick of butter (or more) if I’m not mistaken.

Tonight we were at a wedding rehearsal/groom’s dinner — tomorrow Jason’s uncle gets married so hopefully the end of the world can at least wait until the ceremony is over! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on May 21, 2011 at 12:43 am

yup a stick of butter- i’m pretty sure that’s why he loves them so much 🙂

That bug is kind of cute, I think it’s a praying mantis?

My boyfriend showed up for my class at the gym (he’s a trainer there) and then came for a nice long walk afterwards with me. I work in a nightclub on the weekends so I’m just about to go off to work. Hopefully the world doesn’t end in the middle of my shift!

  3. Lesley Lifting Life on May 21, 2011 at 12:44 am

That little guy is a praying mantis, I grew up in NE and they were common there. (I guess the name is fitting beings how tomorrow is the end of the world and all, lol). They always intrigued me, though, with their little alien heads.

I think my evening was even more crazy than yours which consisted of Chipotle, laying with my new phone, and watching TV 😉

    • Lesley Lifting Life on May 21, 2011 at 12:45 am

Okay, let me fix that. I was not laying with my new phone. I was PLAYING with my new phone!

    • Fitnessista on May 21, 2011 at 12:47 am

i thought it was the cutest little alien! haha

  4. Ellen on May 21, 2011 at 12:51 am

i spent the night also eating chipotle and working on a massive research paper. if it’s going to be the end of the world, i’d like to at least ring it in with some champagne and a good buzz!!

  5. Katheryn on May 21, 2011 at 12:57 am

Sex and the city sounds like a great idea. Hubby is working late, and I’ve been sick. Which is your favorite episode?

  6. Sara K on May 21, 2011 at 1:09 am

Yeah I seriously don’t understand all this end of the world stuff…I mean technically it’s already May 21st in most other timezones so wouldn’t the world have ended already?
Tonight I had a delicious dinner at my favourite Middle Eastern with some friends (that is of course after I spent the day in the sun shopping for lovely little sundresses!)

  7. andrenna on May 21, 2011 at 1:10 am

JINX i just watched that episode of satc, too! what a way to spend our potentially last night on this earth. lawl. i don’t buy into that stuff either. on another random note, i’m really envious of that green corn tamale dinner. i’m in northern california and it’s hard to find delicioso mexican food here!

  8. Allison @ Food For Healing on May 21, 2011 at 1:28 am

oh i dont believe in that mumbo jumbo either, i thought the world was ending 12/12/12 (december 12, 2012) anyways, whatever happened to that?

my night was just as crazy, watched tv, ate pizza and played video games haha

  9. Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) on May 21, 2011 at 1:34 am

If the end of the world is coming, I’m really sorry I didnt open the expensive bottle of champagne that’s in my fridge. And go out and party like a rock star. Instead, I sat at my desk (in Aruba), read random stuff online, pre-blogged, and cherished the silence while my family slept. Peace.And.Quiet. And I loved every second. But it was far from party like it’s 1999. Or the end of the world 🙂

Pilot will be kissing your feet for making that dessert. It looks awesome! I am so happy for you that he’s coming home. And sorry about your long, draining day!

going camping tomorrow nite for my gf’s big 3-0!!! i know..camping ?? but that’s what the girl wants…so here we go to camping with all my girls and drinking! woohoo!!

  11. Laura I. on May 21, 2011 at 5:23 am

Looks like a praying mantis to me too–though it could be some kind of leaf-hopper/walking stick (photo’s a little far away for me to be 100% sure).

The praying mantis is one of the best forms of organic pest control, btw. They are bad ass little suckers. Sort of like the wolverines of the insect world.

  12. cathy on May 21, 2011 at 6:02 am

the pilot comes home today! no way it can be the end of the world – it’s the START of a new chapter for you both!
i saw the movie “bridesmaids” friday eve and laughed so hard…great way to kick off our long weekend here in canada.
have an awesome, awesome reunion day, gina!

  13. Shannon on May 21, 2011 at 7:48 am

Ha! Your Friday night sounds like mine! I caught up on my dvr with a little One Tree Hill. Good for you! Quiet Friday nights at home are so underrated! Congrats on Pilot coming home!! 🙂

  14. Laura on May 21, 2011 at 7:59 am

That is my favorite Sex and the City episode as well! I have seen it at least 50 times:)

    • Fitnessista on May 21, 2011 at 9:42 am

me too, and it never gets old!

      • Julie S. on May 23, 2011 at 5:11 pm

I watched it, too! LOVE LOVE LOVE! I am not big on watching shows or movies I’ve already seen, but I can watch SATC episodes over & over!

  15. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on May 21, 2011 at 8:09 am

You sure know the way to a guy’s heart. I bet the Pilot is going to love coming home to that cake (and to you, of course!). 😀

My Friday night was super uneventful too. I went out for Mediterranean food with my family, read some blogs, and then crashed at 10 pm haha.

  16. caitlin on May 21, 2011 at 8:13 am

I had a crazy Friday night too…I watched Sex and the City as well with my dog :)! BEST episode, all time favorite quote “I’m looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can’t-live-without-each-other love. “

  17. Laura @ LauraLikesDesign on May 21, 2011 at 8:25 am

I haven’t had dump cake in so long! Totally forgot about how good it is.

Spent the night watching a movie with my fiance…it was raining outside so it felt perfect to stay inside for a cozy night.

  18. Megan on May 21, 2011 at 8:29 am

I watched a movie with my mom and a bowl of coconut milk ice cream!
Perfect end of the world night! haha

  19. Hannah on May 21, 2011 at 8:34 am

  20. Babs on May 21, 2011 at 8:45 am

End of the world schmed of world….if/when it happens I doubt we will know beforehand:D. I was watching that episode of SITC on TV too. Still looking for my “Mr. Big”. OK that sounds kinda wrong but YOU guys know what I mean 🙂

  21. s on May 21, 2011 at 9:01 am

  23. Tori (Fresh Fruition) on May 21, 2011 at 9:23 am

We let our dogs lick the last bits of ice cream, too (as long as it’s not chocolate, of course!)

    And that dessert looks amazing!

  24. Nikki on May 21, 2011 at 9:24 am

I just have to say….I love your posts! I check your blog ridiculously often because it always puts me in a good mood. I think the Pilot is going to love your treat! I’m so excited he’s home for good with you soon!! 🙂

  25. LisaG on May 21, 2011 at 9:36 am

I picked up a few things at the grocery and cooked a couple of dishes for my mom and took them to her. Then watced a basball game. Nothing too monumental! Yay for Pilot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Jenn on May 21, 2011 at 9:46 am

My night was SO exciting. I too am picking up my hubby today after being away for training (only 2 weeks though). I made some rocking fish tacos, watched a week worth of DVR Oprah, and maybe drank a few glasses of wine. Call me crazy!

I agree, the world better wait to end until I pick him. If I am going down, I want to be in his arms.

  27. Kate on May 21, 2011 at 9:56 am

Have a beautiful day im so excited for you 🙂

  28. kaila @ healthy helper! on May 21, 2011 at 10:30 am

  29. Kilee on May 21, 2011 at 10:52 am

THe pilot is going to be so happy to be home with you and Bella and eating his dump cake! I hope that you guys have lots of fun catching up on everything from the past month.

As for my Friday night I went to Target and read Maria Menoundo’s new book, “Everygirl’s Guide to Life.” I love it! She is super-organized and has great tips about everything from make-up to working out.

    Have an amazing Saturday 🙂

  30. Katherine: Unemployed on May 21, 2011 at 11:00 am

  36. Cait @ Beyond Bananas on May 21, 2011 at 2:19 pm

My night was even crazier. Started watching “THe Switch” with J. Aniston. And couldn’t make it up for the whole movie 🙁

  37. Laura@mypurposefullife on May 21, 2011 at 5:58 pm

Just wanted to say your blog has been one of my favorites since I first started lurking on blogs over a year ago. So happy for you having your Pilot back! You are such an inspiration to me with the way you get through life’s challenges with such a positive attitude. Congratulations on coming out of this latest challenge with grace and humor!

  40. Christin@purplebirdblog on May 22, 2011 at 2:20 pm

PRAYING MANTIS! Love those little bugs. I have one tattooed on my foot! 🙂

  41. Char on May 22, 2011 at 8:34 pm

The ‘little thing’ is totally a praying mantis and they freak the heck outta me. I don’t know why, but they are my fear…move over spiders. Seriously…they’re creeping…I hope you didn’t get too close haha
