Essentials + Today’s Ab Challenge

Hey hey hey 😀 How’s your morning treating ya?

flowers

I started my day off with a Bella walk, and then some breakfast pizza + hot water, apple cider vinegar and cayenne

egg pizza

(Egg whites and marinara with red pepper flakes. Quite a few people have asked why I *always* only eat egg whites. I only seem to be posting egg whites lately, but I definitely enjoy the yoke too! When you eat eggs multiple times a day, having the yoke every time isn’t a grand idea)

Pizza is always so so good. Even when you try to make your own skillet crust,

it is a fail

crust

and you opt for a brown rice tortilla instead 😉

It was nice to have ingredients to work with this morning since I did a lil grocery shop last night.

Some staples:

groceries

-Maple syrup

-tempeh (this is a new thing I’m excited to play with)

-organic bell peppers, yogurt for Bella

-brown rice tortillas

-2 egg white salads

-goat cream cheese

-organic romaine

-pre-made lentils (best invention everrrr)

-organic cucumber

-green tea

groceries (3)

-Turkish apricots

-hummus

-frozen blueberries and strawberries for smoothies

-carrots

-eggs

-broccoli slaw

-seaweed snacks

-marinara, tomato sauce, tomato paste

-garbanzo beans, cannelini beans, lentil soup

+ the flowers in the first pic above

everything certified organic (minus the seaweed snacks, canellini beans and apricots)

= $75

Trader Joe’s rocks my world.

I was very stoked to try this new-to-me egg salad for my before-bed meal:

egg salad

and beefed it up by adding some chickpeas, serving it salad beast style:

+ a sauce made of Dijon mustard, hummus, nutritional yeast and almond milk to thin it out.

beast (2)

A very tasty yellow meal 🙂

Dessert:

apricots

Well, I’m off to get started on the day’s to-dos!

Bella is not 😉

I also have a phone consult with my homeopathic doc today. I’m anxious to talk to him because I’ve had some interesting things going on with my chart.

Have a lovely day and I’ll see ya this afternoon! <3

Something to do: Blast your absolute favorite, motivating, high energy song and bust out some abdominal exercises for the entire song. My current “get it” song is “More” by Usher- LOVE it for abs. Need some moves? Check out my faves *here*. If you’d like to leave a comment and let me know what song you chose and how it went, I’d love to hear about it 🙂

Tucson bloggies: Today’s Living Social Deal is an amazing one- $39 for a month of unlimited classes at BreakOut. Hit it up if you would like!

Something to talk about: Is anyone else scary excited for the royal wedding? I’m totally having an all-night watching party 😉

I adore TJ’s egg white salad! That and the organic hummus are staples on my TJ’s shopping list. Don’t even get me started on the snack aisles.

I noticed a lot of people asking about the apple cider vinegar. I can’t remember if you’ve done it before, but I’d love to see a list of supplements and other good-for-you foods/tips. Like the apple cider vinegar, probiotic yogurt, etc. Things that you might be taking/eating often but wouldn’t think to photograph. Just a thought.

When you have a yard you can compost the yolks. TJ’s broccoli slaw is the best!

    • Fitnessista on April 26, 2011 at 8:32 pm

      i can’t wait to have a yard!!!

My current is Rolling the Deep by Adele. I have an ab routine that is killer. Absolute killer.

How long have you been charting? I also love “Taking Charge of Your Fertility”. I refer to it all the time. I charted in the past for pregnancy achievement and just started recently again. I agree, they should teach this stuff in school!

i’ve been charting for a year and a half, but stopped while the pilot was deployed. just now getting back into it

I ordered TCOYF as soon I saw one of your posts and read it within a week. SUPER informative. I have been charting for 6 months now since coming off BCP, and I am so glad I did! My first few cycles were so out of whack that if I didn’t chart I would have been like WTF?? haha. I love knowing and being aware of what is going on. Thanks for the recommendation!

oh and P.S. do you use fertility friend? I did all of their lessons too! They were pretty much similar to TCOYF, but the lessons helped with charting on their site.

I just keep seeing articles like this that suggest you wait 1 hour to brush your teeth to protect them after drinking vinegar (http://www.livestrong.com/article/286775-enamel-acidity-foods/) I should ask my dentist next time I see him!

    • Sadie on April 26, 2011 at 11:53 pm

whoops i meant to put this under your comment back to me

    • Fitnessista on April 27, 2011 at 1:58 am

I had no idea you bought your brown rice tortillas at TJs! I shop there nearly exclusively, and we’re gluten free- I have NEVER seen them. I must ask someone where they are next time! I assumed you bought them from Whole Paycheck, which we sadly don’t have :(. Thanks for the post!

    • Fitnessista on April 27, 2011 at 9:49 pm

nope, they’re at tj’s by the rest of the bread and tortillas!

Mmmm tempeh… At a San Diego farmer’s market last April, I had a vegan BLT made with tempeh bacon, and it was out-of-this-world delicious! Consider making one for yourself: whole-grain bread, vegannaise, avocado slices, thick cut tomatoes, lettuce, and tempeh.

    Yum.
