Feeling adventurous

Hey everyone! Hope your weekend is treating you well 😀 This one has been particularly glorious because we kicked it off with some INDIAN FOOD!!!

I actually got something different this time:

Veg jalfraze (spicy, with no potatoes)

003

It had carrots, peas, green beans, cauliflower and foodgasms

And roti:

004

We had a blasty with Jeni and her pilot, and then went to Bruster’s so the pilot could get some ice cream. He got a banana split and we went to the video store to find a movie to rent. I may have stolen a couple of banana bites from the split 😉

We came home, watched our movie, and I fell asleep because I’m crazy like that. It bums me out to be such an old woman on the weekends, but since I’m so physically active and all over the place during the week, I’m in desperate need of a re-charge by the time the weekend comes :/

This morning, we slept in (9am!!! WHOA! It felt goooooooood) and we grabbed a juice before going to the salon to finally get my hair cut.

I’m sorry, but this juice was a slight abomination:

005

Whenever the owner isn’t there, we have to wait much longer than usual (more than 20 minutes!) and our orders are usually wrong. Last time the girl asked if I wanted ice and I said “no, thank you” and she gave me a cup full of ice, and this time I told the guy twice that I wanted a 16oz (because he kept asking) and he gave me a 12oz, and I asked for extra veggies and it was basically apple lemon juice. Whatev. I’ll be back anyway 😉

I’m happy to say I’m no longer a shaggy beast! My hair cut feels AMAZING because she chopped about 4 inches off. And boy, did I need it! Last time I talked to the madre (who is a stylist) she said, “Gina, I think you need to cut your hair. It’s looking a little..rough”. Madre, you would be proud- my hair looks healthy again 😀

I was debating via twitter whether or not to get bangs. I’ve been rocking the side bangs for quite a few years but thought I’d do something fun and get the straight across bangs. I might have gone for it- I’ll post a pic in my next post since it’s current wet from my post-gym shower 😉

We went to our very sorry excuse for a mall after haircuts and I got some fun things from VS, including these yoga shorts!!

008

I went to buy these online when they first came out and they were sold out of my size. I was STOKED when I saw them in our store, in black, in my size and grabbed them up!

Check out the cute hot pink under the fold:

009

I’m not going to post the rest of my purchases because it goes against the “no posting pictures of undergarments online rule” 😀

For lonchi, I made a sludge that stuffed me to the brim:

006

1 banana, 1 pear, 1/2 avocado, 3/4 container of O.N.E coconut water, Vega smoothie infusion, hemp protein, sea salt, vanilla and Stevia.

And one of these for dessert:

007

Crunchy on the outside, soft, gooey and oozing with almond butter on the inside

I hit up the gym with Jeni to do cardio and legs, stopped at Winn Dizzle for dinner ingredients (salmon salads, shrimp, and wasabi mashed potatoes for the pilot) and then came home for a huevo:

010

Spinach, bell pepper, 2 egg whites, cilantro, red chili flakes, pepper and sea salt

It was kind of a weird texture combo, but I liked it:

012

I’m off to dry my hair, make some dinner, and then possibly meeting up with some friends 😀

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Much love,

G$

Can't wait to see the new 'do! I hear you on just being beat on the weekends. It kinda sucks, but might as well get the sleep! Oh, and I swear, Indian food has a natural sleep aid in it! http://www.runningaroundnormal.com/2009/07/mad-woman-on-mission.html

Glad you got your hair did and I can't wait to see the new bangs! I bet they are cute!

Those yoga shorts are too cute. I'm in need of some new workout clothes.

    **faints**

Can't wait to see your new hair cut 🙂

  7. Erica on July 25, 2009 at 6:02 pm

I think we need a pic of your hair cut 🙂 Those yoga shorts are adorable- I need to run out and look for those!! I am an old woman on the weekends too- all the teaching and running around seems to finally catch up with me!

  8. roseyrebecca on July 25, 2009 at 6:19 pm

I hate being really excited for coffee from Starbucks or something just to have my order messed up!

Your Indian food looks yummy though. Can't wait to see the hair!

  9. shelby on July 25, 2009 at 6:26 pm

I have the yoga pants from VS and LOVE them! They are so cute and make my behind look amazing 😉

I cannot wait to see the new haircut! I can already just guess you look fabulous!

  10. Jennie on July 25, 2009 at 6:45 pm

Wow, Gina, those macaroons look freaking incredible. I've never commented before, but I really needed to tell you that I want one right now!!

Also, the Indian food looks fantastic, as always! I live in England at the moment, and it's FULL of gorgeous Indian restaurants. But they don't have whole wheat naan bread, which is a shame, and almost no veggie options!! I always get the veggie rogan josh, and it's delish. Have you ever had the lime dip – it's SUPER spicy, I think you'd love it. It's my fave 🙂

hey…… while i know that i am the only one still thinking about this. i had to let you know that it turns out that what i thought was the same template as yours, it isnt *sigh of relief cuz its really cute and goes with my "flamboyant" birds.(i couldnt sleep last night….i hate copycats when they dont say who they got there ideas from) it IS similar……my husband told me you wouldnt care but he isnt a girl.

cant say i am starting my own blog i just thought that that was how you could leave comments on other ppls blogs. is there another way? i guess it doesnt matter anymore:). i think i am going to try eating more protein, (i figure this one is ok to copy?)

is the rice protein powder something you had to get used to?

    also is it vegan?

    high in carbs?

cuz um… i def get enough of those. i read a post about how you know when you dont get enough protein because you dont see as much definition when you work out the same. (that was in an 08 post i think) and i am thinking that i might benefit also. but on a smaller scale.(since i dont do to much right now….*cringe with embarrassment*.)

  12. dirtyduck on July 25, 2009 at 7:10 pm

i just saw it in all its lengthy splendor…

  13. fittingbackin on July 25, 2009 at 7:34 pm

I got 4" cut off my hair today too! It had gotten nastay… I always wait too long and then it becomes an urgent matter!! Your indian food (as always) looks AMAZING! Can't wait to see what 'do you did!!

  14. AnnQ on July 25, 2009 at 7:35 pm

Great looking salad! And I hear you on being pooped once the weekend comes around…makes me feel like a 90 year old sometimes!

  15. buffmuffy on July 25, 2009 at 7:42 pm

Oo cute shorts! And I think side bangs are so cute as long as they aren't too short with the long hair. good luck!

Woo hoo new haircuts! That's so exciting. This is my first time commenting on your blog – been reading for a while and I love it! You have such a funny sense of humor and I love that you've kept those 40 pounds off – I'm on my way to losing 40 pounds and it's very inspirational to read that!

Re: your sludge/juices – do you have a juicer or a VitaMix? How do you make them because they always look so good!

    Thanks Gina 🙂

  17. Fitnessista on July 25, 2009 at 8:15 pm

dirtyduck- no worries- even if it was the same background, i wouldn't mind 😀 as far as the rice protein goes, it does take some getting used to (it's chalky). another good vegan option is hemp protein but it has a nutty woodsy taste. the brown rice protein has 2.4g carbs and 12g protein per serving– the nutritionals are amazing

emac- i make the juices in a juicer that the lovely heather from heather eats almond butter sold/gave to me and the sludges/smoothies in a vitamix.

  18. Danielle C. on July 25, 2009 at 8:21 pm

You must post pics of the new haircut! I love those shorts, I wish they'd keep them in stock online (my local store hardly ever has any clothes, just undergarments).

  19. Laura J. on July 25, 2009 at 8:35 pm

those almond butter stuffed macaroons look simply DIVINE!! I bet you could make a killing if you sold those things! haha 🙂

  20. MarathonVal on July 25, 2009 at 8:37 pm

  23. Courtney Worthington on July 26, 2009 at 1:16 am

No more pictures of macaroons unless you're planning on selling them soon. Ya hear?! 😉

Did you post what recipe you are using for the macaroons? I just made the ones from Sarma's new book and they are in the freezer–I will have to try them with AB. Yum!
