Finally fits

Hope your Friday has been this kinda awesome:

Hair band

(A hair band the Pilot saw in Cali. I looooove 80s bands. There’s one in Tucson that plays -or used to play?- at the Cactus Moon on Tuesday nights. Lots of Bon Jovi, which makes me happy)

Breakfast:

Egg sandwich

(2 eggs, brown rice toast, salsa)

Today was gloriously relaxing, which is a good thing since my Saturdays are so crazy. I have world beat and Zumba tomorrow -amaaaazzing- so it’s nice to take it easy. Livi and I played and hung out, I worked on Summer Shape Up stuff while she napped, and my friend Emily came over for lunch.

This afternoon, I figured we’d go run a little errand to the jewelry store.

As far as getting back into post-baby shape goes, I wanted to wear my jeans again one day, but it wasn’t my main concern. The clothes in my closet could wait, especially since I live in workout clothes most of my life anyway.. and they’re nice and stretchy 😉

Something I COULDN’T WAIT to wear again:

Ring

my wedding rings!

I still can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I’ve worn them.

While I was preg, people would look at my belly and immediately look to my ring finger to see if I was married (nice, huh?). I was going to get a band to wear in the meantime but ended up not wanting to spend the dollas, so I’ve been patiently waiting to wear my rings again. I tried to put them on a couple of times in the past few months, once incident ended with me screaming, running my finger under water, said finger turned a purplish color and the Pilot had to set me free.

My Mother’s Day gift was to get them re-sized, so I figured I’d wear the rings up higher on my finger to the jewelry store. They slid right on! So exciting.

Since Liv and I wear already packed up and ready to go, we went down to the mall instead to enjoy the AC and walk around. The Pilot met us there for smoothies.

At the mall

I tried the Berry UpBEET Jamba Juice smoothie… was not a fan. I drank about half of it because I was thirsty, but not my fave.

The Pilot went to pick up dinner while I came home to put the little one to bed:

Berry chicken salad

(Best salad with greens, walnuts, chicken, strawberries, blueberries and poppyseed dressing)

The rest of the night looks a little like this:

Kindle and candles

Kindle and candles on the patio 🙂 (Note of 50 Shades of Grey: I had to take a break. The awkwardness and horrible writing was killing me)

Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start.

xoxo

Summer Shape Up heads up: Summer Shape Up 2012 starts MONDAY! I have a feeling it’s going to be the best one yet. I’ve been testing the workouts and kicked my own booty, so I really hope you love them, too.

All of the details will be up in Monday morning’s post, but for those of you who like to plan ahead, here’s what to expect:

-4 weeks of workouts, meal ideas and grocery suggestions. Workouts will be printable and I’ll also have some videos so you can see what the moves look like.

-ALL of the workouts can be done at home with minimal equipment. All you need need is a set of dumbbells or resistance bands (or water bottles/soup cans!), a stability ball and a bench or sturdy chair.

Use Sunday as a rest day and Monday for moderate steady state cardio (20, 30 or 45 minutes)

-The workout plan and calendar will be up Monday, so you’ll be able to plan out your workouts in advance and shuffle your schedule as necessary

Who’s joining in the fun? I’m excited to follow along with everyone and of course, be the biggest cheerleader 🙂

Question for ya: would you like to have a way to track your progress on the blog? Or something you can print out to check your progress? Let me know what you think or any ideas that would make it easier for you.

The Summer Shape Up is starting at the perfect time–I’ve taken a big step back from fitness and, though it was great initially, I’m now feeling like I’ve lost muscle and, even worse, energy. I’d love some way to check in daily or weekly with eating and workouts, though I’m not sure in what format. I don’t own a scale but I think I’ll take measurements and see what changes after the 4 weeks. I tend to stick to plans more diligently when I have to report back to myself!

Thank you for your openness and honesty on fitness and nutrition. I have lacked motivation at times but your blog is so motivating. I look forward to reading more of your posts. The 21 Detox Program ebook really gave me the strength to kick my sugar habit which kills any fitness goal you want to acheive. I am having a special offer of $5 rebate to anyone wanting a copy of it. I beat sugar using this method. Just go this website and check it out. ? The21daysugardetoxrebate.weebly.com

Super excited for summer shape up- I got out of the habit of regularly working out when I started uni almost two years ago (eeek), and have found it really difficult to get back into it. A plan like this is just what I need- I just need to find a way of keeping myself accountable!

Beautiful picture of you and Liv – I am also very jealous of your amazing rings!!

Agree with 50 shades, I didn’t even finish the first book! You and Olivia are adorable! She’s getting so big now 🙂 I can’t wait to see what you come up with for Summer Shape up!

Your wedding rings are sooo pretty! I would love some type of progress sheet to help me keep up! I can make my own but since it’s your program, you would probably make a better one 🙂

I’m back home on Long Island with my parents and I LOVE our backyard! We have woods in our backyard, behind our house rather than neighbors so it’s relaxing – a real treat on LI!

I’m very excited for the summer shape up! I know I always do better with my fitness when I am not alone. I would really appreciate a tracking sheet, and some way to maybe report our progress. I think it will make me feel more motivated to follow through if someone is expecting me to do so and cheering me on!

I can’t wait for Summer Shape Up!! I’ve been doing a bunch of workouts from your blog, but it will be fun to have a routine for a little while 🙂 I would love a way to track it, too!

My friend and I both just finished the first 50 shades book, and a heads up– I think it gets better in the second half. It feels like she has a little more substance. The second book, so far, is also a bit better on the weird stuff. 😉

I would love some sort of checklist or progress chart. I just started summer (finished my 2nd year teaching high school woohoo) and have def slacked the past 2 months- lots of life stress I need to handle better. Anyways, I haven’t done one of your shape ups before and am excited to follow along since I’ll have plenty of time and NO EXcUSES!

So excited about the Summer Shape Up… I’ve been counting calories using the MyFitnessPal app and kicking my butt working out, but I’m still struggling to lose my baby weight (March 25th). I’ve lost 33 pounds so far, and have 15 more to go to reach my prebaby weight… 30 to reach my ultimate goal. I’m hoping you can whip me back into shape.. so thanks in advance!

Also, I think it would be great to have a way to track progress on the blog… especially since most of us are probably stopping by everyday anyway 🙂

Oh man! People were really looking at your hand to see if you were married when you were pregnant? That’s awful. I guess I was lucky, I never had an issue with my ringers not fitting. I’m sorry but YAY for getting to wear them again.

I’m all for this Summer Shape-Up. I can’t wait to see what it’s all about and to get started. I would love having a way to track the progress, whether it be on the blog, or printable, but you just plating this question has sparked me to whip something up at work Monday if it doesn’t pan out. And I love the idea of being able to do all of these at home. I’m super excited for this challenge!

I’d love a way to track my progress. I have a wedding to attend in August and would love to look fabulous in it. I’m traveling in early June and won’t have access to any dum bells/weights etc so would appreciate some modifications if possible! I love to run, hate to strength train… I’d love some easy, friendly and accessible whole body workouts! Can’t wait!

I’m excited for this program- I’m a daily reader and find all your workouts to be so fun and helpful. I’ve recently lost 30 pounds, but I’ve reached a plateau and need a boost. Can’t wait!

I live in England and I’m working late on Monday but would like to start the Summer Shape-Up straight away… what time will you be posting it?

  16. Marinka on June 10, 2012 at 5:48 am

That band looks like fun. I love 80’s bands!

It must be really nice to have your wedding bands back on.

  19. Magda on June 10, 2012 at 3:33 pm

Excited to join you for Summer Shape Up, this comes at the most opportune time. I started a Dietbet Summer Challenge at the office. We have 4 weeks to lose 4% of our weight. We each bet $25 that we could accomplish this goal.. Those who are sucessful, get to split the pot.
Love your blog, and the Summer Shape up is going to ROCK!

  20. Jenn (eating bender) on June 10, 2012 at 11:39 pm

Gorgeous rings! So exciting that they are now back on your finger. 🙂

I had to laugh at your 50 Shades of Grey review thus far – couldn’t agree more. I ended up finishing the series but only after taking a break. The writing does get better by the third book (though I say that by comparison, haha). The first was definitely the most awkward.

Great picture of you and Liv, too. Hurray for Summer Shape Up 2012!

  21. Becky G on June 11, 2012 at 10:44 am

This couldn’t come at a more perfect time! I’m trying to lose the final 8 pounds (down from a 15 pound weight gain this year… :-S ). For being an advocate of healthy eating and exercise my entire life, I’ve been frustrated that I can’t seem to get down to my previous weight that I had maintained for 10 years. Can’t wait to connect with others on this summer shape up, and to (continue) to be inspired by your posts! I find you incredibly refreshing with such a healthy outlook on life and living. Thank you!

  22. Beks on June 11, 2012 at 12:56 pm

I haven’t tried reading 50 Shades, but from what I understand, I wouldn’t want to. I can get the same writing style for free via http://www.fanfiction.net.
Your rings are so pretty! It’s lame that people automatically think if you’re pregnant and not wearing a ring, you’re not married. Swelling happens. People need to deal. But at least they fit again, and are home where they belong. 🙂

  23. Christina on June 13, 2012 at 3:43 am

loved your comment about 50 shades… Im halfway through and totally over it… (well I was over it from the opening paragraph cos of the terrible writing…)!
