Fitness Halloween Costumes

Hi guys! How’s the morning going? Hope you’re enjoying the day so far <3 Halloween week is always pretty exciting, huh? I love having all of our decor up:

and Liv can’t wait to wear her costume. Every year, I’m asked what I’m going to be for Halloween, but usually don’t dress up. In my brain I (lamely) joke that I’m going to be a mom fitness instructor aka my life. We did a fun family costume a couple of years ago, but dressing up for Halloween has never really been my thing. Even before we had Liv, the Pilot was usually deployed, so I spent the evening with friends, drinking wine around a fire and passing out candy. In other words, it was totally perfect 🙂

Just for kicks, I put together some fitness-inspired Halloween costumes if you’re still looking for ideas. While these aren’t over-the-top by any means, they’d pretty much guarantee you’d be the comfiest person at the party. Are you dressing up for Halloween this year? For more ideas, check out Lauren Conrad’s blog. She’s been posting amazing ones this week!

Some costume ideas, featuring beloved fitness personalities:

Richard simmons

Sparkle tank// gold bootie shorts// white high tops// tube socks (scrunch ‘em)

Tara

Yoga hoodie// printed leggings// knit beanie// yoga mat in a sling

Shaun t

Insanity shirt// black leggings// Nike shoes

Kara goucher

Black running briefs or shorts// sports bra// running shoes// medal// homemade “GOUCHER” race bib

Which one do you like the best? I’m a huge fan of the Richard Simmons combo 😉

xoxo

Gina

These are great! The Richard Simmons is pretty funny but I would like to go as Tara Stiles.

We have a costume contest at work and this year my team is going as dinosaurs. The irony of the fact that I’m massively pregnant and dressing up as a dinosaur is not lost on me. I see a sick day in my future…haha!

omg. Richard Simmons all the way — that is awesome.

  3. Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious on October 29, 2014 at 7:43 am

I’m all about Jane Fonda but the Richard Simons would be my pick.

This polenta recipe was a game changer for me: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/savory-polenta-recipe.html
It creates a nice, creamy consistency without requiring one to stand at the stove stirring forever.

Gina, this is the first time I’ve *ever* commented on a blog, so let me take this opportunity to say that I read yours regularly and really enjoy it! I am a Spanish professor, but I teach barre on the side and am increasingly passionate about fitness. Food has always been a passion, however–and polenta is a go-to for me!

thank you so much for reading, and taking the time to comment! hi 🙂 thanks for the recipe, too- i will definitely check it out! alton always does it right 🙂

Aaaand…I just realized this is not the polenta thread! A lovely conversation about Halloween costumes, and then polenta, completely out of context. Thanks for graciously acknowledging my comment anyway! (My lesson: multitasking between classes does not work).

it happens to me, too 🙂 xoxo

Oh my gosh, such great ideas!! Can’t wait to see what Livi is for Halloween. I love trick or treaters so I can see all of the cute and creative costumes.

If I had any of those items I would definitely choose one of these! I love the idea of being a fitness person – but since I totally procrastinated my costume I will end up being the most ridiculous last minute thing ever. Thanks for the great ideas, though. 🙂

Love these!! I’m planning to wear yoga pants and a t-shirt to work and either be “comfortable” or “what I look like on the weekends.” Basically an excuse to wear yoga pants to the office 😉

Oh my god oh my god! You are a Halloween LIFE-SAVER! I had nothing to be this Halloween, I just might dress up as a yogi, Shaun T(He’s ma MAN) or a runner. 😀

  11. Erin @ Her Heartland Soul on October 29, 2014 at 8:39 am

Someone needs to go as Shaun T! What a great idea!

  12. Angela @ HonestlyAngela on October 29, 2014 at 8:48 am

A friend of mine went as Richard Simmons one year. It was hilarious!

  13. Missy on October 29, 2014 at 8:51 am

    These costumes are great.

    I ordered a shirt!

  14. Sue Faunt on October 29, 2014 at 8:54 am

Liv!! Pretty princess, I love it!

  15. Paula on October 29, 2014 at 9:16 am

Don’t judge me: I went to a Halloween party last weekend dressed as “deadweight.” I put on zombie makeup and made a big weight plate out of paperboard to wear around my neck.

  16. mindy @ just a one girl revolution. on October 29, 2014 at 9:49 am

I’m going as Shalane Flanagan – basically just an excuse to wear my running clothes to work!

  17. Ashley @ A Lady Goes West on October 29, 2014 at 10:31 am

I’m not dressing up either! In fact, I have to teach BODYPUMP on Friday evening, so maybe people will think my post-class sweat is intentional as I walk the streets after class. 🙂

  18. Cassie Vaughn on October 29, 2014 at 10:39 am

    Tara Stiles!!

  19. Tricia @ A Couple of Dashes on October 29, 2014 at 10:57 am

OMG! I need that “I don’t sweat, I sparkle” tank in my life stat! I’m going as an 80’s aerobics instructor this year! Cute and comfy!

  20. April on October 29, 2014 at 11:24 am

I was Jane Fonda one year and it was SO fun, and comfy:)

  22. Sarah on October 29, 2014 at 12:16 pm

Great ideas! P.S. I’m obsessed with those little pumpkin trees from Trader Joe’s 🙂

    Very cute! Great ideas.

  24. Christa @ Living Unbalanced on October 29, 2014 at 1:04 pm

These are great! My crossfit gym is having a halloween workout so I’m dressing up for it…but since I workout at 6:30 in the AM I’m going as something easy — a hippie. My local yoga studio sells “Spiritual Gangster” tanks that I bought a while back…so I will definitely be rocking that!

  25. Madelyn Moon on October 29, 2014 at 2:20 pm

Love all these ideas, and love the kale shirts! Thanks for the inspiration!

  26. Giselle on October 29, 2014 at 2:54 pm

I’m not big on dressing up either but Tara Stiles sounds like it’s right up my alley! Yoga pants and a sweatshirt. Oh yeah!

  27. Katherine Beeks on October 29, 2014 at 3:29 pm

Loving the Richard Simmons look! Those spangly shorts…

  28. Crystal on October 29, 2014 at 3:56 pm

YES Richard Simmons lol! We’re not dressing up this year, just passing out loads of candy to kids and then we’re going to a Hallowine and cheese party, hehe. Love the fall decor!

  29. Alex on October 29, 2014 at 4:10 pm

Love your Halloween decorations, especially your fall centerpiece tray. Richard Simmons is by far the best.

  30. Traci on October 29, 2014 at 4:51 pm

You should absolutely dress up as Richard S. for Halloween!

  31. Julie on October 29, 2014 at 6:13 pm

I would say Richard Simons is my fave!

  32. Alycia on October 29, 2014 at 7:04 pm

    Those costumes are awesome!

We dress up at work and this year we are doing a Walk of Fame thing . Everyone is dressing as a celebrity from the 70s or 80s. I’m dressing as Punky Brewster!

  33. Talia on October 30, 2014 at 8:00 am

These are hilarious!!! It has to be Richard Simons…and gotta run in a special super happy way lol!!! x

  34. Michelle @ Vitamin Sunshine on November 1, 2014 at 3:10 pm

Richard Simmons would be hilarious! Brings back memories of my mom “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” when I was a kid- she loved his videos!

Kara Goucher would be… risky! Haha.
