Fondue I Ever

Hi friends! It’s a beautiful day Smile

trees

What are you doing this weekend?

I started off my morning with a Bodyrock workout since I didn’t have time to hit up the gym before work. The workout I chose was a challenge one, where we completed a combo move (monkey push-up, jump tuck, floor kicks) alternated with interval jump roping 3x. Including a short warm-up, it took 25 minutes and I was a sweaty beast at the end. Short, effective—remember quality always trumps quantity.

Recovery smoothie:

smoothie

-flax

-2 scoops protein (Sun Warrior + Dr)

-frozen organic raspberries

-decaf espresso powder

-raw cacao powder

-almond milk

Perfection in a cup Smile

On a break, I walked around the farmer’s market:

market

dog

(That’s Leo- he was so nice!)

farmers market

and picked up some jalapeno hummus:

hummus

Our snack table at work today is in the spirit of love day.. and legendary:

snacks

We set out chocolate covered acai berries, dried fruit, gummies, infused water, coffee is brewing, and also have animal crackers and fresh fruit for fondue:

fondue

+ a bowl of melted dark chocolate for dipping

In my dream world, I would swim in a dark chocolate pool with my mouth wide open, a la Augustus Gloop

With the snacks I’ve been enjoying, lunch is also packed and ready for when I feel like *real* food Winking smile

pasta

Black bean spaghetti on a bed of arugula, topped with nutritional yeast

+ an amazeball Smile

Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!

Fun plans with the girls tonight—see you tomorrow with a re-cap.

xoxo

Gina

  2. Laura (On the Threshold of Greatness) on February 12, 2011 at 2:51 pm

OMG Gina! I was listening to the Jane Pratt radio show last night and she was interviewing a concierge who has some book out about the industry and he said he once helped a guy fill a bathtub with thousands of dollars worth of high-quality chocolate for a romantic evening. Like a dream, right? 😉 Gives a whole new meaning to drowning in the bathtub!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

What a beautiful day indeed ! I have to say, I love animal crackers, and forgot how much I loved them until I saw this, brings back my animal cracker childhood days ; ) the days when an empty animal cracker box was my biggest problem, lol!

mmmm – jalapeno hummus sounds YUM! My little food processor just crapped out on me, otherwise I’d be tempted to whip it out and make a homemade batch myself!

Is that smoothie thick? I like thick smoothies, but I’m wary of A LOT of fruit or of added xanthan gum (maybe some, but not a lot). But I prefer smoothie in the morning. Also, my digestion is real wacky, so my tummy is sensitive. A naturopath I saw didn’t seem to keen on flax and chia and all those seed things that can get caught up in an already messed up intestinal area. But I’m curious if one of those are better than the other — chia over flax or vice versa. Thoughts?

    • Fitnessista on February 13, 2011 at 11:42 am

i think chia and flax are both beneficial, but considering that you have digestion issues, i’d prob stay away too. what about using some avocado as a healthy fat in your smoothie? you can’t taste it, and it helps thicken it up

      • Ann on February 13, 2011 at 1:50 pm

Hi, what about fiber then? Because I don’t eat many grains or beans (at all). So I worry about fiber; but I eat ALOT of fruit, veggies and avocado, so maybe that is okay.

I like thick smoothies…and sometimes 2-3 times a day I’ll mix 1/2 cup yogurt with 1 scoop of protein powder. Its real thick and so so good; BUT, I always eat it so fast…like in less than 7 mins 🙁 I wish I could slow down…am I the only one that does this ?

        • Fitnessista on February 13, 2011 at 6:07 pm

i eat mine super fast too 🙂

  14. Allison on February 12, 2011 at 4:29 pm

I’m very confused about your work life right now. You have opened your new business but haven’t posted about it? Are you still working another job too or does work always refer to the new business?

  21. Namaste Gurl on February 12, 2011 at 7:11 pm

I gotta get me that black bean spaghetti- how fun is that! No, I lied, what I need to do first is learn how to use my spiralizer 🙂

How do you follow the Bodyrock workouts? Do you watch a video off your computer, or print our the challenge? I think they look interesting but I’m trying to figure out how I’d follow the steps. I’m the kid of person that when cooking from a recipe off the computer, I have to constantly go back to the computer. Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on February 14, 2011 at 11:42 pm

you watch the video and then write it down if you need to and go for it! she posts the description of each workout, too
