Friday Faves

Hey hey! The weekend is heeeeeere. How was the week? Ours has been pretty good, but I feel like something is definitely in the air. The girls and I have been a little *off* this week, and no surprise to anyone, the sleep around here has been scarce. We’re thinking about having the girls share a bedroom. Liv has been waking up afraid at night for quite a while now, and P has decided to start coming out of her bed at random hours, so I was thinking that maybe it’s time to let them sleep in the same room together and maybe it would help. I feel like at this point we have nothing to lose! Please send any tips, and prayers for sanity, my way haha.

What do you have going on this weekend? Livi has a school play (SO cute), and we’re getting ready for our trip to San Diego. I.can’t.wait.

I’d love to hear what you’re up to. Any fun events, date nights, or Valentine’s plans coming up?

Livi holding Everly

(Everly turned 1 year old yesterday!! I can’t even believe it. Exactly one year ago, I had a super scary flight experience, but it all worked out because I got to meet her the day she was born. While we haven’t been able to see her nearly as much as we’d like, I think we’ll make up for lost time when we’re finally back in Tucson again.)

It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party! Here are some of the things I’ve loved from the week. I always love it when you share your faves, too, so please join in the fun in the comments section if you’d like.

Daily Harvest selection

(The current Daily Harvest rotation. The new harvest bowls are AMAZING! This link gets you 3 free cups on your first order.)

Fashion + beauty:

– This Nike jacket (sold out, but similar here). I’ve been wearing it so much this week! The weather has warmed up a bit, so it’s been the perfect throw-on piece, whether I’m running around with the girls or heading to or from the studio. I like the retro vibe to it, and it matches everything.

-This oil! I’m not really an *oil person* (I love them, but I can’t tell you about how they can help with various ailments and all that good stuff), but this is one of my very faves. I ordered it from a friend who sells DoTerra – we support each other, and they order Beautycounter goodies from me – and it smells sooooo beautiful. I let the shower get nice and steamy, then add a few drops to the floor before I hop in. (I also do this with Eucalyptus oil.) This scent is floral, earthy, and positively lovely. I used it for essential oil towels after barre, and the girls in class loved it.

-Bath bombs from Sky Organics! Sky Organics started sending us some monthly bath treats a few months ago, coincidentally when Liv and P started to get REALLY into bath bombs. (Add this to the list of things they love that I didn’t discover until I was at least 20, along with things like Moroccan oil, Indian food, cheese boards, and pho.) I love that their products are cruelty-free and they use natural ingredients with plant-based dyes. They’d be an awesome little Valentine’s treat for yourself, too! (Speaking of heart day, check out my Valentine’s fitness gift guide here!)

There are lots of Stephanies but I hope I’m the Stephanie W.! This is my first time completing a shape up and I have loved it! The encouragement in the FB group has been awesome and the workouts so challenging. I did workout 1 earlier this week and found the burpees were easier! I didn’t ever think I would say that 🙂

Yay!! I’m so excited. I haven’t seen an email come through so please let me know if I missed it somehow. I wouldn’t want to miss the goodies. I found some Lorissa’s kitchen last week at our local grocery store and my husband ate it all before I could try it!

Do you have an update on how your tattoo has held up? I love watercolour tattoos, and am always curious how they last.

I love the Friday Faves post! I always end up with a ton of tabs open along the top of my screen haha! My younger sister and I are 3 years apart and now that I look back, I loved that we shared a room growing up. We went through a bit of a rough patch when we hit the lovely teenager years but other than that, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I noticed especially when I went to college that a lot of girls who had their own rooms at home had sharing issues and difficulty adjusting to life with a roommate in general. It really didn’t bother me because I was so used to it!

    • Fitnessista on February 12, 2018 at 12:10 am

that is such an excellent point. i never shared a room with anyone, so when i had roommates in college it was a huge adjustment for me!

Can’t believe WSU is done! Thanks for putting this up together so well every time! Not being in residency def freed up more of my time and also was so involved on fb so that helped a lot to be consistent! I’m feeling so fit! Sleeping better! gonna prep more for the half marathon now but will do some of the workouts in between the runs! And thanks for the idea of oil in the shower! I love oils too!!

    • Fitnessista on February 12, 2018 at 12:10 am

thank you so much for joining in the fun! i’m so happy you were there and were able to focus on it and see such great results.

      • Milania Dela cruz on February 12, 2018 at 9:48 am

can’t wait for SSU. When is that usually?? Btw, I also agree with others’ comments about sharing a room with sister. I shared a room with my lil sis til about 17-18?? It was great! We are scaredy-cats so it was nice to have someone in the room with.

  7. Lindsey on February 10, 2018 at 12:48 am

My four year old is waking up so scared at night too. I put a little cot in our room and he’s come in at some point every night for over a month now. We moved recently and he told me a ghost lives at our new house so that is a little freaky to hear! Anyway my daughter is almost two so when she gets a little older I may have them share a room for awhile. I shared a room with my sister when I was his age and I loved it. Please keep us updated on how it goes!

    • Fitnessista on February 12, 2018 at 12:09 am

i will definitely update on it!
liv had a cot in our room on and off for 3 years. for a while, it worked really well, but the rule was that she wasn’t allowed to come in unless we were sleeping (so 11pm didn’t count haha) and if she was quiet. she started waking us up in the night anyway, so we moved the cot out and transitioned her.
i’m really hoping that having her friend in the room will help with the nighttime anxiety. it’s been rough.

    LOL at that Par-ent-ing video!

    • Fitnessista on February 12, 2018 at 12:07 am

      haha the best!

our girls 5 and 3 have shared a room since the youngest was 4 months old – honestly best thing we’ve done – they annoy each other and love each other. it’s part of it – my sister and i shared a room until we were 18 and i wanted the same for our kids (if possible) because it teaches you so much, prepares you for so much etc. the fight, the laugh and the deal with things between the two of them without us intervening and i think that is priceless – not always easy but worth it!

    • Fitnessista on February 12, 2018 at 12:07 am

that’s so good to know! i never shared a room with anyone so i have no idea how this all works. i’m really hoping they sleep 🙂

  10. Mama on February 12, 2018 at 11:54 am

My girls started sharing a room and it magically solved all of our problems. My youngest was always scared at night and bedtime was a battle. As soon as they started sharing it was like she suddenly felt safe. They are best friends and it’s been amazing ever since. They help each other with covers, drinks of water, kleenex and even say prayers when one wakes up with a bad dream. They were 4 and 6 when we first started!! I say go for it. What do you have to lose if its already a challenge? You can always go back!
