Friday Faves

Hi! Happy Friday! Hope you’re having a wonderful morning. What are you up to this weekend?

I’m enjoying an off day from the gym today -legs are sore from teaching back-to-back barre and hot barre last night- and excited for a weekend date night with that certain handsome Pilot 🙂

Date night

Some faves from the week and around the web:

Lies we tell ourselves that keep us from being happy.

This made me want to hold Bella up in the air like a baby Simba.

Bell running 1 of 1

An awesome summer cardio playlist.

Newborn-style photos with a puppy.

Succulents12

Simple exercises that undo the damages of sitting.

Candle love of the week.

Seven stupidest questions people ask about my baby. (Heads up: strong language. I was dying laughing when I got to “Papa Smurf”)

Would love to hear your faves from the week, too!

Brunchin

Happy Friday <3

xoxo

Gina

Hahaha…”I don’t understand why she cries. Sometimes, I cry.” I felt that way when I was a nanny, and I can only imagine how real the struggle would be as a parent!

One of my faves from the week was girl’s night (a lot of moscato was consumed….) and this watermelon-cutting tutorial. Genius! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/31/how-to-cut-watermelon_n_5637639.html

    Enjoy your date night!

I’m sore today too from a tough weight-room session earlier this week. However, I’m teaching BODYPUMP tonight, teaching BODYATTACK tomorrow and training some clients on Sunday, so no rest for me quite yet. But I’m still looking forward to the weekend, because I’ve got a nice dinner date with my husband on tap for Saturday as well as a play. Have a wonderful day! Enjoy your day off from the gym! 🙂

Totally unrelated to this post, but I have a friend who has recently started working out (all group ex: crossfit style bootcamps, cycling, etc). She is following a weight-loss plan and needs a HIIT workout for this week, but her normal cycling class is cancelled. She HATES running, so I was telling her she could do HIIT on the elliptical or spin bike. Do you have any workouts I could give her (besides just 30 sec hard, 30 sec easy)? I looked through the fitness page but was having a little trouble finding ones that could be modified for different cardio equipment. Thanks for all you do!!!

    • Fitnessista on August 8, 2014 at 7:26 pm

thank you for reading! jump rope is another great option. tell her to try distance based intervals. or increase the time each round to get to a 1-minute full sprint and take it back down (equal ratios of time)

I’m sore today from this this morning leg workout. Strength training and stairclimber is a killer leg and booty combo.

    • Fitnessista on August 8, 2014 at 7:23 pm

      yeah it is!

    Have a fun date night!

One of my favorites from the week is a bitter sweet…helping a friend get the strength to end a bad relationship. It’s something that needed to happen and was a huge struggle but waking up this morning and seeing a text from her thanking us for helping her get the courage and knowing she’s going to be better for it was so great to hear. It’s always nice to have friends around you to support and who you know will support you too.

    • Fitnessista on August 8, 2014 at 7:23 pm

you are a good friend <3

I almost peed my pants reading the 7 questions! Your succulent garden looks goooorgeous.

Favorites from this week: meeting my little girl early Thursday morning <3, a lovely stitch fix box that came in the mail with 5 amazing pieces, and seeing pictures of Tripp having the time of his life with all 4 grandparents and his tio/tia riding a huge ferris wheel and eating all kinds of things I don't normally give him haha
