Gina: 5 things

Hi 🙂 I always love when Meg does her “Five Things” posts (ok, I love all of her posts), and thought it would be fun to do one of my own since there are some new, fun things to share with you!

Here are 5 things that I’m crazy about right now:

1) Red lipstick. I used to be really freaked out by red lipstick -visions of lip-sticked smeared teeth and the Joker danced in my head- but realized that it’s just a matter of finding a shade to work with your skin tone. For our holiday party last weekend, I knew my outfit would be simple and neutral, so red lips would be a perfect pop of color. I picked up a classic red shade, with cool tones (if I go orange-y, it makes my skin look grayish).

Classic red lips and China red lip pencil, both by Sonia Kashuk.

I’ll just exfoliate my lips with my toothbrush, top with tinted moisturizer, line and fill in with the pencil, top with lipstick.

2) Neiman Marcus for Target. Just when I thought Target couldn’t be any more dangerous, they went and partnered up with NM. When I first saw the collection, it took my breath away. Gorgeous gifts at multiple price points- I’m excited to pick up some pieces for holiday gifts. I bought my top for the holiday party (above), and this tiny Jason Wu dress for a special someone. I was really excited to take her to see Santa in it, but after her first Santa encounter, we might just have holiday pics taken by a tiny tree or something instead.

3) Long earrings. I love the bold statement necklaces that are popular right now, but have been enjoying statement earrings even more. These were sent to me from White Plum, and I love to wear them with a chunky sweater, leggings and boots.

4) Speaking of leggings: wunder unders <— my winter staple. I love that you can dress them up or down, and lulu has fun prints, colors and textures. Love these from the website:

5) Dermalogica. I picked up some samples when I was in Cape Cop and a small set of the faves -didn’t want to commit too much because I wasn’t sure how my skin would do with it over time- and I’m a huge fan. Their products are extremely gentle, use mostly natural ingredients and were developed by dermatologists. One of my favorite things about this line is that many of the products don’t include alcohol, which can be harsh and drying, especially during the winter months.

What 5 things are you loving right now? Any fun winter purchases or faves?

That red lipstick is stunning on you!!

My favorite winter fave right now is my wunder unders + long tank + belted chunky cardi + boots. I’ve been living in my leggings lately — regular jeans are uncomfortable and maternity jeans are too big :/ and yes, Red Lipstick is perfect. It doesn’t take much to make a statement. I love red lipstick and pearl earrings. Something so very Jackie O about it!

Love all of this Gina – that shade of red is perfect for you 🙂

I too live in my Wunder Unders all winter long.

I, too, have recently discovered the wonder of red lipstick and it’s a game changer. Also- the NM collection at target has the most adorable bike ever by Alice & Olivia and I want it more every time I see it.

You look stunning with red lips Gina <3

I have those wunder unders! They’re amazing and I’m wearing them nonstop. They’re a little thicker than the regular fabric and I love it!

  7. Abby on December 14, 2012 at 6:12 pm

Yay! Dermalogica is what we use at my salon and I love it! I also tried red lips for the first time and while my husband thought they looked “hot” he wouldn’t kiss me all night because he didn’t want red lips haha!

    1. Anything peppermint! Williams-Sonoma bark, Starbucks peppermint hot chocolate, it doesn’t matter. If it is peppermint, I want it.
    2. Philosophy Candy Cane shower gel – the perfect winter time shampoo and body wash. Plus it fits #1.
    3. Pearl stud earring. I’ve always worn long, linear earrings, but in the past month, I’ve become obsessed with my pearls. I think it’s so my earring don’t compete with my scarf.
    4. Michael Buble’s Christmas cd. There are no words for how much I love it. It stayed in my car CD player until May last year.
    5. Old Navy cozy socks. Perfect for keeping my feet warm on cold nights.

    1. Whole foods 365 brand uber moisturizing lotion (I think it has shea butter in it?). it’s pretty affordable, smells nice (very clean and not too scented), and gives my dry skin some goooood moisture in the winter months.

    2. full fat canned coconut milk in my coffee – kind of a new thing for me but I LOVE it! I actually will make a blend of unsweetened vanilla almond milk and the regular full fat coconut milk as “creamer” for my coffee – yum!

    3. my brown seed earrings from this gal (http://www.semilladesigns.com/). I’ve had them FOREVER and bought in Seattle before I left. I wear them almost every day (with casual outfits) and love knowing they’re unique and no one has the same pair.

    4. spin class 🙂

    5. my new fingerless gloves from H&M. they’re super soft and cozy and not too bulky. perfect for morning walks or driving in the car when it’s cooooold!

Okay, Gina, I bought my first pair of full length wunder unders….but I don’t know how to wear them. Normally, that is. I get it for yoga, but I need help with the “dressing them up” part. Can you do a post about how to wear them as an outfit? Just a suggestion! Thanks! 🙂

You should try the Santa thing again! You’ll regret not getting a photo. And if it doesn’t work then oh well, atleast you tried 🙂

That shade of red looks great with your olive skin tone and dark hair!

I’m loving flowy dresses right now- it’s scorching hot here in Australia.

I love the red lipstick on you! I am still at the point where I can’t pull it off. I LOVE the shirt for your holiday party too!

    I can’t get over
    -Starbucks Skinny Peppermint Mocha
    -Reading books about health
-Planning a new start *I just got married into the Navy and am currently sitting in an empty house waiting to drive from Texas to Virginia first with a stop in Tucson though for family.
-Spending time with my husband, puppy, and fluffy kitties *use to work 50-80 hrs a week and have been enjoying every moment with them

I love Dermalogica – worth every penny and the products last forever. My favorites of theirs are the Multiactive Toner, which you have, and the Daily Microfoliant. It’s a super gentle, enzyme-based exfoliant that will rock your world. 🙂

Check out the reviews on that wunder under page. Apparently they’ve changed.

    • Fitnessista on December 17, 2012 at 12:00 pm

wow, that’s good to know. i was wondering why i’ve seen some see-through pairs at the gym, because you never used to be able to see through them. i don’t have any of the new pairs, though… all of mine are at least a year old. hopefully they listen to the reviews and go back to the old gusset and fabric

That red looks amazing on you!!! And I love, love love the red dress for Livi!!! 🙂

    1. Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate after dinner…a mug for me, one for him, staring at the stars. Almost every
    night last week!

    2. St. Ives Triple Butters Body Wash…new find for me, $3.00 a bottle. Very moisturizing with a light
    fragrance. I love it.

    3. Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Treatment Balm…a late discovery for me…super lemony and
it is saving my work and handwashing-ravaged nails!!!

    4. Playing with my dogs more! They are so sweet and in the moment…reminds me to enjoy myself.

    5. Pinterest…I don’t have an account yet, but i’ve been looking at it, and it’s idea-sensory-overload.
Fashion, hairstyles, makeup, crafting, recipes…it’s amazing.

wunder unders are my favorite too. I always have to stop in the store though for the good styles though – they don’t have them all on the site!
