great wall of chocolate + treadmill stretches

Hi friends! Happy humpday to ya. Hope your week (and October!) is going well so far.

While the Pilot was flying last night, Bell helped me study for my NASM exam

Photo

and earlier in the after noon, Liv and I went to walk around World Market with my nana.

I was originally going to check out Halloween decorations and this piece of furniture (thinking about it for the bare wall in our master bedroom <– wall to the right of the pic, with some type of art hanging above. What do you think?),

Photo 2

but always seem to get distracted by the chocolate selection.

Photo 1

It just makes me so happy.

Some recent eats:

Yesterday’s lunchtime salad

Salad

Greens, tempeh bacon, pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, strawberries

While I was making the salad, I made two so I’d have one to enjoy today.

Salad 2

Along with my tempeh kick, Pilot and I are on a dried apricot frenzy- we’ll just leave the bag on the counter and each grab a few each time we walk by

Apricots

Back to work I go… See ya soon with a giveaway!

xoxo

Gina

NEW on the Family page: “You know you’re a mom when” + a video hanging out with Liv

Something to think:

Treadmill stretches: If you’re following the workout calendar, today is a flexibility day- make extra time for yoga, pilates or stretching on your own. If you’d like to try some stretches on the treadmill after a short cardio workout, make sure the treadmill is stopped and use it for balance. You can also use it to help deepen stretches, such as the calf stretches in this video. Root both heels into the treadmill and holding onto the hand rails, press through your hands to slide the tread back. When you feel it, stop and hold.

Yes! World Market is the best! I saw the same thing and drooled over it (but I drool over everything there anyway)

  2. Lisa @ Lisa the Vegetarian on October 3, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Wow, that chocolate wall is pretty great! Some of the flavors are certainly unique. And I love the quote you posted at the end. Makes me want to work even harder for the things I’m trying to accomplish!

  3. Abby on October 3, 2012 at 4:28 pm

    Beef jerky chocolate? Awesome/gross?

  4. Stacey Olson on October 3, 2012 at 4:32 pm

Love the furniture… salad looks amazing.. and peanut butter banana chocolate??!! HELLO.

  5. Sarabell on October 3, 2012 at 4:35 pm

I think I should install a chocolate wall in my house.
Love that quote at the bottom!

  6. Laura @ She Eats Well on October 3, 2012 at 4:37 pm

I love getting lost in Cost Plus World Market. And btw, I love the Divine Dark Mint Chocolate – it’s so so good, especially cold!!

  7. Jenny on October 3, 2012 at 4:43 pm

I love dried apricots–I dip them in dark chocolate and let them cool, then have the best of both worlds! So yum!! My kids love them too–just have to watch how much dark chocolate they eat. Kids on caffine–a lot of work!! That quote is awsome!! I am going to print it and put it over my desk at work!

  8. Cortney on October 3, 2012 at 4:51 pm

Yum…I loveeee the dark chocolate with ginger and orange.

How are you finding studying for the NASM compared to AFFA?

    • Fitnessista on October 4, 2012 at 12:02 am

it’s a lot more information, for sure. i’m enjoying studying, it’s just a matter of finding time to get in quality studying (i do better with large blocks of time instead of a little here and there)

      • Becki on October 7, 2012 at 9:27 am

I am also studying for the NASM exam. Good luck!!!

  9. Krystina on October 3, 2012 at 4:54 pm

Hold up – red velvet chocolate? Peach hibiscus chocolate? Peanut butter & banana chocolate?! Why can’t Orlando have a World Market? 🙁

I love dried apricots but never think to buy them. They taste wonderful in a couscous salad with mint and pistachios.

    • Fitnessista on October 4, 2012 at 12:02 am

and the sad thing is that when i lived in orlando, i drove about 45 minutes to the world market.. and found it when i got there it had closed down :((((

      ok 🙂

  11. Ashlee @ HisnHers on October 3, 2012 at 5:18 pm

I have been craving tempeh since you posted a few days ago! Must go get more.
I love the furniture piece and think it would look nice in your bedroom! Too bad they dont have a goldish/bronze instead of silver/gray!

  12. Meghan @ After the Ivy League on October 3, 2012 at 5:30 pm

So jealous you have a World Market near you! I used to love shopping there when I lived in Virginia but I haven’t seen any up north in Rhode Island, so sad! Love that store.

  13. Meggan on October 3, 2012 at 6:06 pm

LOVE the piece of furniture! Go for it!

  14. Kels on October 3, 2012 at 6:32 pm

Love the furniture! Bell looks like a cuddly teddy bear there, so cute 🙂

  15. Kelly @foodiefresh on October 3, 2012 at 6:40 pm

I just raided the chocolate and tea stash at World Market yesterday. I went right for the chocolate + sea salt bar and the peppermint tea. Yum!

  16. Yaara on October 3, 2012 at 6:53 pm

Hey Gina! Did you make it to Crossfit yesterday? I’m just curious how your second experience was after trying it out from the last time. Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on October 4, 2012 at 12:01 am

i didn’t, since i had to get work pics taken in the am and tom flew later :/ hopefully soon- dare i say i’ve been craving it! i’ll definitely blog about it when i go again

  17. Amanda @ .running with spoons. on October 3, 2012 at 6:57 pm

I’m a big fan of Great Walls of Chocolate, although I’m not too sure what to think about the Beef Jerky bar… it’s either brilliant or completely wrong…

  18. Anne on October 3, 2012 at 7:56 pm

Haha I almost always walk by the candy aisle “just to look” even though I rarely buy anything.

  19. Emily on October 3, 2012 at 7:59 pm

I absolutely love World Market!! Unfortunately they don’t have one near me now that I love in soFla 🙁 but yes that dresser/chest is awesome! It’s so fun

  20. Chelsa on October 3, 2012 at 8:12 pm

    dried apricots are soooo good

  21. Jess on October 3, 2012 at 8:23 pm

Love the dresser! So pretty and original! And ah yeah the chocolate section is amazing!!!

  22. Kristi @ lifesprinkles.com on October 3, 2012 at 8:53 pm

that salad looks fantastic! how do you make your tempeh bacon?

    • Fitnessista on October 3, 2012 at 11:59 pm

i think i added a list- let me know if it doesn’t work

  23. natalie @ southern fit foodie on October 3, 2012 at 9:09 pm

I love that piece of furniture! It would go perfectly on the bare wall in my bedroom too! 🙂

I finished off the last of my dried apricots and figs today….time for another trip to Marshalls!

  24. Julie on October 3, 2012 at 9:17 pm

I like the furniture. I don’t know if it requires much else since it’s an art piece in itself.

  25. Kimberly on October 3, 2012 at 9:45 pm

LOVE the dresser/chest…but, it was the salad that caught my eye! Now THAT is a work of (edible) ART!

We don’t have a World Market in Anchorage, but a wall of chocolate would be worth making a trip to the lower 48! My favorite is combo is chili pepper and dark chocolate…so, the New Orleans Chili Dark Chocolate bar sound pretty inticing to me.

  26. jacki on October 3, 2012 at 10:18 pm

LOVE the bombay chest. If pilot is on board, go for it. I saw one I loved, same shape, cream color, chocolate brown writing on it. Mike hates it….sigh. He likes oak, stained in Minwax Cherry 235. Alot of it. Sometimes I pick fights with him so I can go buy what I want.

  27. Leah o on October 3, 2012 at 10:24 pm

Super sore in all the right places from the workout yesterday! Thanks Gina!

    • Fitnessista on October 3, 2012 at 11:58 pm

      awesome job!!!

  28. Bek @ Crave on October 3, 2012 at 11:26 pm

Ahhh how distracting that chocolate aisle must be! It looks so good! Red velvet chocolate?! What?! Haha! Take me there.

  29. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on October 3, 2012 at 11:35 pm

I love the furniture piece you’re looking at! So gorgeous! And I wish a store by me had a wall of chocolate!

  30. Caitlin on October 4, 2012 at 12:14 am

I am sooooo sore from the spooky workout…mainly in my back/sides and the backs of my legs…definitely a good day for stretching!

i wish i could LIVE in world market….best.place.ever.

  31. CourtStar @ StarSystemz on October 4, 2012 at 1:39 am

I LOVE going to World Market and picking up a case of beer from a random country, and all the interesting candy bars (this is a once a year thing ;)) World Market also has the BEST christmas ornaments and gift wrap! Before taking your NASM exam I recommend going to the workshop three days before. During the workshop they talk about ways to remember test questions and it gives you an opportunity to talk to others who have taken the test. Good luck! If you study and practice some of the NASM techniques at work you will ACE no problem 😉 Love and Shine CourtStar

  32. Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy on October 4, 2012 at 6:20 am

I definitely need that chocolate wall!

  33. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on October 4, 2012 at 7:24 am

I’m so amused by all the crazy flavours of chocolate bars there are. I once saw a saltine cracker chocolate bar… so random!

I love dried apricots too! They’re dangerous for me to keep around though because I can never keep my hands out of them.

  34. Emily @ www.main-eats.com on October 4, 2012 at 7:31 am

LOVE World Market-can’t seem to get enough! That dresser is beautiful-definitely unique and would spice up your room! I always get distracted by the coffee section…

  35. Cher @ Weddicted on October 4, 2012 at 10:48 am

Beef Jerky chocolate?! Definitely weird. But, PB + Banana.. I can definitely get on board with that. I’ve never seen anything like that around me!

  36. Laura on October 4, 2012 at 10:50 am

I love the dresser! I think the shape in particular is really cool. It looks like the kind of piece you could update if down the road you wanted to change your color scheme.

  37. Liz @ Southern Charm on October 4, 2012 at 11:37 am

I don’t know how or why, but I forgot about tempeh bacon. Silly me. Adding it to next week’s grocery list!

  38. staci on October 4, 2012 at 12:10 pm

Sprouts had a sale on fried apricots a while back and i definitely took advantage putting them in muffins, oatmeal, homeade granola, and of course a mid afternoon (or anytime) snack!

  39. Caitlin on October 4, 2012 at 6:23 pm

Gina, question for ya-I know the majority of cals burned from tabata are afterburn. Does it make sense to do that kind of workout in the evening, then? I dont have time during the day or morning, so I typically work out late at night. I’m just wondering if its as effective this way

  40. Abby on October 4, 2012 at 8:24 pm

Love world market! And that dresser is adorable! Just out of curiosity, why are you studying to take the NASM exam if you are already a certified personal trainer? I am looking to get certified and am having a hard time choosing which cert to go with!
