Greens n’ Goat Cheese

Hey everyone! IT’S FRIDAY!!! Yahooooooo 🙂 Hope you have something fun planned for the weekend.

After yesterday’s workout, I chugged this shake before taking a shower and heading back to train a client and teach.

smoothie

-1 C almond milk

-1/2 frozen banana

-1 scoop Sun Warrior

-1/2 T raw cacao powder

-1/2 T maca

-Stevia, vanilla and a pinch of sea salt

-a lil xanthan gum and ice

Slurped up with a Glass Dharma straw– they make smoothies so much fancier 🙂

Bootcamp was AWESOME, and then I met the girls at Two Friends Cafe for dinner.

Like last time, I asked if they would make me a salad with goat cheese and roasted veggies, with balsamic on the side.

salad (2)

There’s CORN on there! And I ate it. I hate corn, haha. Just give me greens and goat cheese and I’m a happy kid, every thing else is just a bonus 😉

I also ordered a side of grilled asparagus, which I chopped up and added it to the salad of justice.

asparagus

Total salad domination.

The food was glorious, the company was lovely and it was a good night 🙂

This morning, I’m off to teach early bootcamp and then going to get some iron pumping action in.

Breakfast cookie:

cookie

-1/2 C oats

1/2 scoop Sun Warrior

-almond milk

-1/2 banana

-cacao nibs, goji berries and maca

-cinnamon

-1 hefty TB almond butter

I’m out like [raw] sauerkraut.

xoxo,

Gina

Thank you SO mucho to all of you who are spreading Summer Shape Up love! I’m so thrilled you like the program. Holler to my friend Trish who started Week 1 this week- she said it hurts to sneeze 😉

Something to talk about: Is there a vegetable that you DESPISE? I can’t stand corn, really. The fact that I ate it last night is a huge milestone. Also, are you a worrier? I find myself worrying a lot lately about the oil spill. It breaks my heart into a thousand pieces. I always try to remind myself that worrying doesn’t fix or change anything, but easier said than done, eh?

I loathe corn, especially as an ingredient! My momma fed me tuna noodle casserole with corn in it WAY too many times as a kid. :p I’m trying to learn to like it on the cob and am making progress there. But, I’ll warn you: EVERY salad served in a German restaurant in Europe has corn on it (which is ironic since when we lived there in the early 70’s, the Germans were appalled that people ate corn; they thought of it as “pig food” LOL).

Gina, I have a question for you. I am a marathoner and workout fiend/lover, but I’m curious how you possibly stay satisfied hunger wise when you’re working out fairly intensely twice a day. Just curious. I know I would be a rabid beast if I were doing a bootcamp class, training others and doing a morning sweat sesh. And the salad doesn’t seem like it would keep one full too long.

The veggie I don’t like…beets. They just look funny. I also don’t really like water chessnuts…don’t like the crunch or non taste.

      hey girl,
that’s why i don’t post all of my meals and snacks- just some of them. i fuel myself so that i’m full and satisfied and maintain my weight/muscle.

I love all veggies! Is that weird? Corn to peas to brussel sprouts! Love them all! I have never been known as a picky eater…a curse and blessing 😉

the oil spill is awful down here around Eglin AFB area 🙁 Lots of stores and shops and restuarants are already closing or hiring substantially less staff! It makes me so sad all the time and worried about the area! We’ll pcs sometime in the near future, but for people who have their entire lives here, I can’t even imagine 🙁 It’s such a beautiful area with so many great beaches, so sad 🙁

I’m not a big asparagus fan, but I will eat it. Beets kinda freak me out a little too.

I’m not naturally prone to worry per se (about the world that is…personal anxiety, ha! That’s a whole different story.), but I’m very, very concerned about North Korea. War seems like a geuine possibility, and I find the u.s. media coverage inadequate. American news is so America-centric and needs to give more attention to world events IMHO.

Haaaaaate broc. Love everything else. I love corn, esp on the cob, but I consider it a grain, not a veg. Truth be told, it’s so carby and sugary (sigh, and hence it’s deliciousness no doubt) that it’s kinda a pet peeve of mine when people try to pass corn off as their having a vegetable, ditto with potatoes.

I don’t comment too terribly frequently, but I gotta say that every post is great, your workouts sound slammin, and that you look positvely gorge in all your pictures.

hahah i totally agree. corn actually is considered a grain, not a vegetable.
thank you, friend <3 i love it when you do get the chance to comment- it lets me know you're stickin around 😉

I like mostly all veggies, but some are limited like brussels sprouts..I can only eat 5 then they start to taste funny and I cant eat any more…weird eh? I am enjoying trying new veggies and finding new ways to prep old fav’s!
I am also worried about the spill even though I am quite far away I know that the effect is world wide.

Goat cheese can make ANYTHING taste good, but I do love corn! Water chestnuts are far from my favorite .. are olives a veg? I HATE green and kalamata olives!

I’m really glad you mentioned worrying about the oil spill…I was starting to wonder if I was the only one! I have such stress just thinking about the fact that 2.5 million gallons of oil is spilling into the gulf EVERY DAY. It makes me so sad and angry and so many things, even though it’s not directly happening to me. And I feel stressed that I can’t really do anything, but something still needs to be done.

Anyway, I just really appreciated reading that someone else is worrying about it too.

    • Fitnessista on June 18, 2010 at 5:59 pm

me too, girl. the worst fact is that we’re totally helpless and have to watch oil spew into our ocean every day 🙁

    Beets Ewww!

How funny, I started Week 1 this week and am having the same sneezing pain in my abs!
I don’t like mushrooms, but I’ll chop them up very small and add them to pasta sauce to make if feel meaty. If they are in tiny pieces, I don’t mind them.
Finally, worrying is my second job, and the oil spill has been a big one lately. I usually make some sort of plan for how to deal with whatever I’m worried about, but I feel a little hopeless about this one and am trying to put it out of my mind.

i HATE brussel sprouts, they are weird and gross.

i worry about the world, theres so many people screwing it up, just like with that oil spill. It makes me very sad. I love mother earth and don’t like where it is going these days.

    I can’t think of a veggie I don’t like! I love them all.

That salad is loaded with goat cheese! It looks like my kind of salad. 😉

I know this will be unpopular, but I don’t like bell peppers at all. So many people like them raw in salads and just to snack on and I can’t stand them. I keep trying them, hoping that will change, but it never does. I can eat them cooked – if they’re mixed up with a lot of stuff and cooked really well.

That includes roasted red peppers, which is too bad because you find roasted red pepper flavor in EVERYthing nowadays. I can always tell if something has red pepper in it as a flavor and it just ruins a dish for me. Bleh!

    Eggplant. I HATE eggplant.

I am a MAJOR worrier, and it’s one personality flaw I’d really like to change. I have made progress, and I am now more productive when I worry. But it’s still unfortunate and slightly useless 🙁 Glad to know I’m not alone.

Have you seen the BP coffee spill video? It’s pretty funny. Doesn’t help the situation any though sadly 🙁 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AAa0gd7ClM&feature=player_embedded

  17. shelly on June 19, 2010 at 12:06 pm

    I hate lima beans!
I am not a worrier at all… however my husband worries enough for both of us.
