macaroon

Hey friends 😀 Happy Sunday! Hope it’s been beautiful and relaxing. Thank you SO much for your kind words about the Pilot coming home soon! We’ll b in our new house eventually and this limbo phase will be overrrrrrrrrrr. Thank goodness- I’m going crazy over here 🙂

So I just got home from having to go into work for a few hours 🙂 It cut into my La Encantada shopping but maybe it was good to make some money instead of spend it? I guess, haha.

mall

I assisted a couple of classes and worked in the weight room. No teaching today, but I start teaching at a Tucson studio tomorrow morning- 1 Zumba class each week and 2 yoga-strength classes. Should be a blasty 😉

Some recent eats:

smoothie

Almond butter-strawberry smoothie + lots of organic berries

Brown rice farina with strawberries

farina

(I’m on a berry kick, can ya tell?)

a sludge 😀

smoothie

-1.5 C almond milk

-1 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior (Promo on Tuesday!! Thank you baby Jesus, my bag is almost empty)

-1/2 banana

-organic spinach

-1/2 T raw cacao powder

-decaf espresso powder

-1 t almond butter

Like I said before, my appetite has been all over the place lately. Smoothies and eggs are some of the few things that actually sound good (oh, and BBQ haha), so I’m sorry the eats have been lackluster! At least I’ll have a Pilot to feed soon 🙂

Hitting up the gym, going to chillax by the pool and then it’s roon-making time 😀

Enjoy your day!

xoxo

Gina

That sludge looks delish! Enjoy the rest of your day, girl!

  2. Vivianne on May 15, 2011 at 4:05 pm

    I LOVE THAT SONG! It truly is so perfect for cardio. It gets me so pumped up! Everyday I’m shufflin’ (;

My current staples are bananas and oatmeal. It’s my go to breakfast. It’s so gloomy here in Michigan and it recently got so cold out 🙁 Luckily I wake up and warm up with a bowl of hot oats.

    Bananas go in everything-smoothies, oatmeal, sandwiches… I always have at least 1 a day (;

    • Fitnessista on May 15, 2011 at 4:07 pm

hahah i was just singing the “everyday i’m shufflin” part as i read your comment 🙂

  3. Kristina @ spabettie on May 15, 2011 at 4:06 pm

right now all that sounds good to me are big salads and ice cold smoothies!

    oh, and sushi. 😉

  4. Allison @ Food For Healing on May 15, 2011 at 4:08 pm

i love berries, so a berry kick is always good in my books.
i need to make some macaroons again soon. i’m still perfecting my own recipe.
my staples lately are salads with feta. I am totally addicted to feta cheese.
I hit up a morning spin class today, so i dont plan on doing too much for the rest of the day haha
    Have a beautiful day!

I definitely am! It’ll get worse around watermelon season, when that’s all I’ll want to eat. But right now it’s banana chips, which I KNOW are not classified as health foods. But they don’t make me want to gag…I’ve always found that going semi-raw helps with the food funks.

    • Fitnessista on May 15, 2011 at 4:14 pm

that’s probably what i’ll end up doing, too

  6. Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews on May 15, 2011 at 4:17 pm

I just bought some fresh berries and am on a berry kick too!

  7. Felicia (Natural + Balanced) on May 15, 2011 at 4:24 pm

I get into funks… but usually never get sick of smoked salmon, eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, and salads.. those actually are my staples haha 🙂 it always changes with whats in season.. once summer hits its usually more raw veg and fruit!

  8. Brooke on May 15, 2011 at 4:26 pm

I’ve been in a food funk myself. NOTHING sounds good. I buy veggies and they just sit in my fridge. I’ve been doing okay with fruit though. 🙂 Lots of watermelon last week and just bought a big basket of blackberries yesterday.

As for the LMFAO song, I love it too for working out! 😀

  9. jodie on May 15, 2011 at 4:47 pm

I am going through an appetite funk right now, nothing tastes good to me not sure why. Heading to the market to buy some pineapple and grapefruits, maybe that will work.
On another note the Tracey Anderson mat dvd is pretty good. Enjoy the rest of your day and congrats on the new gig.

  10. ilovefetacheese on May 15, 2011 at 5:05 pm

What’s the status of the macaroon recipe?? Are we ever gonna see it? 🙂

  11. lindsey on May 15, 2011 at 5:08 pm

I definitely go through eating funks during the hot summers. I stick to a lot of soaked oats, smoothies and cold fruit. watermelon, melon, grapes and berries are huge during the summer…until the peaches come in!

  12. Mary @ Bites and Bliss on May 15, 2011 at 5:11 pm

Gym and macaroons. Perfect. 🙂 It’s cool you get to teach Zumba. I’ve looked into getting certified, but it’s too expensive for me right now..

  13. Kelly on May 15, 2011 at 5:15 pm

I ate smoothies everyday last week until I was sick of them…er, for about a day or so. I’ve been craving Indian and Middle Eastern food lately, which has resulted in hitting up Indian food restaurants and making my own falafel and several dips like hummus, babaganoush, and tzaziki…all of which I probably spelled incorrectly. 🙂

  14. Holly @ The Runny Egg on May 15, 2011 at 5:49 pm

I love smoothies and eggs so I never get tired of pics of them 🙂

  15. Fallon on May 15, 2011 at 5:59 pm

Right now I know I’m craving smoothies with SPINACH! My blender broke (bullet) and my replacement part is on a 2 week back order. I ended up picking a cheap-o blender to get me through this rut. Nothing like a Vita-mix though. I’m hoping X-mas I’ll get one 😉

Are you still teach your Dance Trance classes? I haven’t you talk about it lately!

  16. Morgan on May 15, 2011 at 6:08 pm

One of my staples lately has been the protein muffins you’ve been posting. They taste great and are so filling!! Love them!

    • Fitnessista on May 15, 2011 at 6:12 pm

      and they’re huge! (twss)

  17. kristi (sweet cheeks) on May 15, 2011 at 6:18 pm

I listened to that song this morning during a run. It’s awesome!! Don’t worry about pleasing us with your eats..just keep eating what sounds good to you…and plus, I don’t mind one bit seeing a million smoothie pics! 😀

  18. Gina @Running to the Kitchen on May 15, 2011 at 6:20 pm

I’m digging berries right now too. They have been insanely cheap by me so I keep hoarding them 🙂

  19. Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) on May 15, 2011 at 6:20 pm

I just downloaded the LMFAO song the other day!

And eats being boring? Hardly! I think you have tons of variety. I eat the same thing all the time. I call it a food groove rather than a food rut 🙂 If it works, and im not sick of it, why mess with it…haha!

Making money rather than spending it? Ahh, but spending it’s so much more fun 🙂

  20. kaila @ healthy helper! on May 15, 2011 at 6:26 pm

I have been loving fruit waaay to much lately! It’s hurting my mouth 🙁 But its just so darn fresh and delicious that I can’t get enough! And your eats look pretty tasty to me….not boring at all, just yummy!

  21. Mac on May 15, 2011 at 6:59 pm

I’m definitely on a fruit kick… frozen berries are a staple for me right now!

  22. Krystina (Organically Me) on May 15, 2011 at 7:02 pm

I’ve been obsessed with almond butter + cherry preserve waffle sandwiches lately. Oh, and tuna! I can’t get enough of tuna!

  23. Annie@stronghealthyfit on May 15, 2011 at 7:08 pm

I’m kind of in an eating funk right now. There’s not much produce in season in NH until about mid-June and I can’t wait for it!

  24. Jen on May 15, 2011 at 7:16 pm

I went to my first Zumba class on Friday and I’m going again tomorrow! It definitely feels good after a long day!

  25. chelsey @ clean eating chelsey on May 15, 2011 at 7:27 pm

All I want lately are fresh fruits and vegetables!

  26. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on May 15, 2011 at 7:35 pm

I’ve been on a Mediterranean food kick lately. I’ve been eating tons of salads with beans, fresh herbs, and lemony dressings. If only I could go to Greece and eat some REAL Mediterranean food. 😉

  27. Pure2raw twins on May 15, 2011 at 8:48 pm

so happy to hear the Pilot is coming home!!!

i have been on a sweet potato kick lately

  28. Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) on May 15, 2011 at 8:53 pm

I never realized it until you ask, but I totally go through food kicks!

    Winter – Soups

Fall – Pumpkin ANYTHING.. haha… I add pumpkin to everything in the fall.

Spring/Summer – Huge Salad beasts and blueberries

All Year- Smoothies and Green Monsters – I’m an addict 😉

  29. Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries on May 15, 2011 at 9:39 pm

I’m in a food funk, too. Green monsters, oats and cereal are about the only things that never fail to sound delicious 🙂

  30. Leslie on May 15, 2011 at 10:10 pm

Definitely going through some kind of eating funk right now too! Nothing really sounds good to me. I need to jazz up some of my smoothies and make them more fun and interesting instead “everything (and anything that’s leftover) but the kitchen sink.” Haha.

But seriously, the only thing I’ve been eating it seems everyday lately is this: pan-fried marinated tempeh in a tortilla with lettuce and some kind of sauce (lately it’s nacho cheezy hemp sauce from Kristen’s Raw, and a lil’ sour cream).

    • Jaclyn on May 16, 2011 at 3:24 pm

      That sounds SO good! 😀

  31. bojana on May 16, 2011 at 3:01 am

It’s funny, I didn’t even think about how my current lack of appetite could be season-related … And that it is such a common thing right now 🙂 If I do get hungry, eating tofu and almond butter is the only thing that sounds appealing for like a week now. And I thought it was because of all the exercising i’ve done this past week – it leaves me appetite-less! :I

  32. Raphy on May 16, 2011 at 2:18 pm

Question: What is the nail polish you’re wearing in this post? LOVE, LOVE LOVE it! And i’ve been trying to find a color like that one!

    • Fitnessista on May 16, 2011 at 4:00 pm

thank you! it’s opi but i can’t remember the name

  33. Genevieve on May 16, 2011 at 2:22 pm

I love your nail polish in that picture. What kind is it?

    • Fitnessista on May 16, 2011 at 4:00 pm

opi, but not sure of the color :/

  34. Jaclyn on May 16, 2011 at 3:21 pm

Definitely feel you on the wonky appetite too! For some reason I have not been craving veg like usual and more carbs… but sometimes not at all….idk, spring fevah, perhaps?? I want to start making smoothies, they are a great way to get in nutrients, and good for warmer weather! For some reason though, I have been craving cereal a lot more than usual lately :)!

    • Fitnessista on May 16, 2011 at 3:59 pm

me too! vegetables sound horrible to me
