Here comes the sun

Smoothie weather!

weather3

Nice to see ya.

It’s easy to complain about the heat when you live in the desert, but I say bring it on. I may change my tune when it’s 115* and my eegee is melting faster than I can drink it, but for now, I will relish in the toastiness,

Drink lots of these

smoothie7

(frozen cherries, frozen banana, spinach, almond milk, hemp seeds, cocoa powder, Sun Warrior, cinnamon and Stevia)

and float/splash in the pool with my little buddy.

For today, I got some errands taken care of before my work week starts on Wednesday. Trip to Target for laundry detergent plus other things we “needed” and to Buffalo Exchange to sell some clothes.

buffalo

I ended up making $42 off my lululemon bag stuffed to the brim, which will be converted into H&M clothes soon since I’ve worn the same tank top twice within 3 days,

dehydrator bandit

and continue to sneak things out of the dehydrator.

Speaking of, the zucchini sandwich bites are INCREDIBLE.

smoothie and chips

They take a little longer to dehydrate, but totally worth the wait.

(All do is slice up zucchini, put cheesy kale chip topping in between two pieces and dehydrate, or place on a cookie sheet in the oven on the lowest setting, with the door slightly ajar)

Some of the Pilot’s friends are in town, so he’s out with the boys, and I’m enjoying my mug of tea, salad beast and The Voice:

LOVE Lindsey Pavao and Rae Lynn- she’s stinkin’ adorable. Off from the gym today.. I’m still sore from Bikram!

Hope you’re enjoying your night <3

xoxo

I lovee H&M, so much better than Forever 21.

  2. Melissa on April 23, 2012 at 11:17 pm

What kind of dehydrator do you have? My husband and I are about to close on our first house and I wanted to buy one for myself as a house warming gift. 🙂

  4. Laura @ She Eats Well on April 23, 2012 at 11:26 pm

How much room does your dehydrator take up? Just curious, as I think I would use one a lot if I were to buy it…

  5. Ramani on April 23, 2012 at 11:26 pm

Your ears must be ringing because just today, I made a ginormous smoothie (Kimberly Snyder’s glowing green smoothie) and I needed your straw so badly. Is it in your Open Sky store or where can I get one? Thanks. 🙂

  7. Lauren @ Fun, Fit and Fabulous! on April 23, 2012 at 11:43 pm

I am so ready for the heat as well. It gets to unnaturally hot temperatures here in Dallas too, but I’ve been ready to bust out the smoothies and swim suits for month! I LOVE to sweat! 🙂

  8. Krystina on April 24, 2012 at 12:02 am

I’m stoked for warmer temps in Orlando! I loooove hot weather. Also, I love the navy + pink combo.

  9. Lisa on April 24, 2012 at 12:02 am

Holy moly those zucchini sandwiches look divine. And your salad looks good too yumm 🙂

Have you seen the Portlandia clip about trying to sell clothes at Buffalo Exchange-type stores? Absolutely hilarious (at least this is how my attempts trying to sell clothes usually go). http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FmKRIqnov9g

    • Fitnessista on April 24, 2012 at 11:25 am

  12. Mariah on April 24, 2012 at 3:13 am

Oh fitnessista …. its 13 degrees here and has been raining for a week – A WEEK!

Hilariously the country has been declared ‘in drought’ – that’s lovely England for you.

  13. Sam @ Fit for My Fork on April 24, 2012 at 3:43 am

I’m with Mariah above – we’re in a drought, we got a flier through the post yesterday telling us how to conserve water and it’s been raining for more than a week now. It’s pouring outside. I want some sunshine!

  14. samantha on April 24, 2012 at 7:03 am

love ya girl, but rae lynn needs to go! lol

    • Fitnessista on April 24, 2012 at 11:20 am

      hahah i love her!!

  15. Becca on April 24, 2012 at 7:33 am

Your snacks look amazing 🙂 I think I need to invest in a dehydrator. My husband really wants one also. Great idea selling some of the clothes you don’t wear. Oh and I wish it was hot here!! I’m ready to go to the beach.

  16. Amanda Perry @ Sistas of Strength on April 24, 2012 at 7:49 am

You’re drinking out of a snowman mug when you talk about how hot it is. HAHAHAHAHA

    • Fitnessista on April 24, 2012 at 11:20 am

it’s snowmen year round over here 😉

  17. Juliet on April 24, 2012 at 8:04 am

I was so sad when Raelynn got eliminated last week. I love that we get two nights of the voice now!! I hope mathai and Juliet get saved tonight!

  18. Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed on April 24, 2012 at 8:06 am

Nice work, I need to go through my closet! That smoothie looks delish. I’ve been on a smoothie hiatus, I need to get back into the groove, they are always so yummy.

  19. Melissa (Better Fit) on April 24, 2012 at 8:07 am

Enjoy the sunshine! We’re in the middle of a rain-a-thon 🙁

    Your salad looks delicious!

  20. Steffany on April 24, 2012 at 8:31 am

    Oooh that frozen cherry smoothie looks SO good & I just so happen to have some cherries in my freezer, spinach in my fridge, and the other ingredients too. Now just need to get a banana & test this thing out ! (;

  21. Shelly on April 24, 2012 at 8:32 am

I really try to clean my dresser out at least twice a year (basically when I switch seasons), but I’d rather donate my clothes. The buffalo exchange girls in New Orleans were really snooty and even though they bought a lot of my clothes the time I went there, I left feeling really judged! So now I just donate to Goodwill so I don’t have to face rejection. Of course, I always end up on a little spree when I stop there to donate (same goes for Buffalo exchange) but thrifted clothes are so affordable it’s no biggie. 🙂

    • Postdoc on April 24, 2012 at 12:13 pm

It’s definitely not just you! The Bay Area is especially snooty about it, I too have switched to mostly donations. Check this out, there’s a Portlandia clip making fun of the vintage stores, absolutely hilarious (and mirrors my experiences trying to sell clothes): http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FmKRIqnov9g

  22. Sarah on April 24, 2012 at 8:39 am

Oh I am jealous of your 97 degrees! I’m from TX and seriously looooove the heat/summer and then I moved to the midwest and it takes forever for the summer and spring to come 🙁 This morning I woke up and it was 40 degrees!

  23. Sara on April 24, 2012 at 9:21 am

Where do you get your salmon?

  24. Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life on April 24, 2012 at 9:38 am

So jealous of your heat…I would LOVE some 90-degree weather right now!
P.S. – your striped tank SO looks like something I would own. 😉

  25. lisag on April 24, 2012 at 10:05 am

We just had a break in our weather; 39 degrees this morning! But back to the 80’s the next few days. How long did you dehydrate your zucchini? Looks like a great snacky.

  26. Ashley @ Sweat for Sweets on April 24, 2012 at 10:16 am

Hey Gina! How do you make your cheezy kale topping? I’m definitely interested in trying those zucchini bites. And how long do you leave the zucchini on low in the oven for? (I don’t have a dehydrator .. they intimidate me!)

  27. Emily on April 24, 2012 at 11:12 am

I can’t wait until smoothie weather hits my neck of the woods! Rae Lynn is cute, but I’m not a fan of her twang. I wasn’t sad to see her go. I’m rooting for Juliet Simms.

  28. Liz @ Southern Charm on April 24, 2012 at 12:20 pm

Ohhh those zuchinni bites look heavenly!! I’m saving for a dehydrator and can’t WAIT to try this recipe out!!

  29. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on April 24, 2012 at 12:26 pm

I wish I had a buffalo exchange by me. We have a platos closet but its nothing special. Those zucchini bites look amazing!

  30. Emily @ Glitz Glam Granola on April 24, 2012 at 1:19 pm

Wow you are so lucky to have such amazing weather for the next week!! SF has had some nice weather too but now they are predicting rain! 🙁 That’s awesome that you made $42 on your clothes! I really, really need to do the same thing because my closet is stuffed with things I don’t wear and I could use that money! And do you have a recipe for the cheese sauce? I’d love to make those zucchini bites!

  31. Patti @ This Starts Tonight on April 24, 2012 at 1:21 pm

I literally gasped when I saw your phone, lol. It’s mid-50s in SE Pennsylvania, and I think that’s warm right now!

  32. Amy@healthyhungryhappy.com on April 24, 2012 at 1:26 pm

we got a dehydrator as a wedding present but havent used it yet…think i need to bust it out! im heading to phx on thurs and i know its been super hot already..boo!! but at least its still nice at night..i think haha

  33. Anna @ The Guiltless Life on April 24, 2012 at 1:40 pm

I always get great buys from H&M – I am a big fan of selling clothes to buy more ;). I had a rule with myself for a while that I could only use the hangers I had, so I had to sell/donate one piece of clothing if I was going to buy another. I have yet to buy more hangers, so it seems to be working!

  34. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on April 24, 2012 at 6:28 pm

I love making money off my old clothes! It totally justifies my shopping habit haha. 😉
