Holly and jolly

Deck the halls with Bell and Caro….

Bell and caro

(Random: the Pilot and I get a kick out of adding Bella and Caroline’s names into song lyrics. Our holiday medley is pretty supreme.)

After impatiently waiting, Christmas decorations are out! The house feels so cozy and festive.

(We need to get P a stocking!)

Friday morning while P was taking her nap, we played Michael Buble Christmas on Pandora and broke out the holiday decor. Last year, we couldn’t find a box of ornaments and were convinced they’d been lost or broken in the move, so we were pretty excited when the Pilot unearthed them from storage. It was great to see some old favorites and bits of home in the mix.

Little Christmas details:

Decor

It was such a relaxing and fun weekend. I didn’t brave the Black Friday crowds -decided to wait and Cyber Monday it up!- and spent a lot of time hanging out with the fam. Liv asks to ride her scooter every day, so it’s a perfect opportunity to enjoy some fresh air and exercise.

Scooter riding

I should be cleared to work out again next week and I’m SO EXCITED. My sanity is waiting on the sidelines with her Orangetheory pod strapped on, New Balances laced up, and a big goofy smile on her face. When I’m cleared I think my celebration is going to be a hot yoga class. It’s been over a year! GIMME THAT SWEAT.

Some more highlights from the weekend:

We met up with friends for ice skating at Liberty Station:

Ice skating

The Pilot zipped around with Liv, and worked on his triple Salchow with a toe loop. 😉 P and I watched from the sidelines with Betsy. Afterwards, we had an awesome dinner at Sammy’s. Their chicken chopped salad is fantastic.

I also made these BOMB cookies from my friend Brittany. She sent some in a beautiful care package right after we had P, and I immediately texted her to find out the recipe. Thankfully, it’s now on her blog.

Date cookies

Make these. You will not regret it.

This morning, we’re hanging out, venturing outside for a walk, and returning our library books that are now 4 weeks overdue. Derp.

Also, I have to show you P’s smile. She’s been smiling back at us for a little while now, but I finally had my phone close by to snap a pic. I can’t even handle it.

Smiley girl

Have a great morning and I’ll see ya later today!

xoxo

Oh so good to see P smiling! I have yet to get my Christmas decorations up. I had a ton of work to do this weekend. I’ve been writing a book and it’s consumed every bit of me, but it will be done this week and I can get back to life!

    • Fitnessista on November 30, 2015 at 10:06 am

i want to hear more about your book!

      • Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious on November 30, 2015 at 4:16 pm

The book is called Ditch the diet. It’s about freeing yourself form diet & creating components for sustainable weight loss & healthy living. It has my own weight loss story weaved into so it’s very personal. It’s been my dream forever to write this. No one will probably buy it, but that’s ok. The only thing that matters is that I wrote it and if it helps even one person it will be worth it.

        • Sasha on November 30, 2015 at 9:23 pm

I like the name of your book!
I love hearing success stories of weight loss – especially ones where people have made it a sustained way of life. I would definitely buy your book 🙂

Thanks for posting those cyber Monday deals! I may or may not have copied and pasted and sent my mom an email just casually letting her know about the amazing sales today 😉

    • Fitnessista on November 30, 2015 at 10:06 am

      haha perfect!

  4. Megan A. on November 30, 2015 at 7:55 am

We add our dogs name to songs all the time too! Her name is snoopy, but often we call her “the beagle.” Have Yourself a Beagle Little Christmas is a hit in our house.

    • Fitnessista on November 30, 2015 at 10:06 am

hahaha! so glad we’re not the only ones

      • Emily B on December 1, 2015 at 5:40 pm

We do it too! I have a pitbull mix named Peaches, and she has a DONK on her (really just her muscular little haunches). The fiance and I catch each other singing “what you gonna do with all that butt, all that butt inside your fur?” to her on an almost daily basis. Completely ridiculous but it makes us laugh!

        • Fitnessista on December 1, 2015 at 6:12 pm

hahahah i love it so much

Love the tree! I can’t wait to put our up! Since my mom is allergic, we can’t get our big real tree like we used too, but we always get a small real tree for the other living room and decorate both the real and fake 😛

    • Fitnessista on November 30, 2015 at 10:05 am

the pilot LOVES real trees.. and i like fake ones. i think the real ones make us sneeze, but the scent is amazing

so so sweet to see that smile!!

I have a question (which I’m sure you are wayyy to busy to respond so no worries if you don’t!) but I am trying for baby #2 with no such luck :(( I have amenorrhea and have been dealing with that since I weaned my son… do you have any suggestions of things you did to jump start your body to get pregnant with sweet P? I’m feeling pretty desperate and thought a fellow fitness lover like you would have some insight. Thx!

    • Fitnessista on November 30, 2015 at 10:05 am

there is an amazing book called “making babies” if you haven’t read it. lots of great tips for conceiving. with p, we got pregnant quickly, but i think it was because i spent so much time working with my naturopath to get my hormones balanced when we were trying to get pregnant with liv. sending lots of good wishes to you <3

    • KatyBugChild on December 1, 2015 at 6:42 am

Jumping in here because I had amenorrhea before conceiving my first daughter (I just gave birth to #2 in November). Have you had your doctor look at your progesterone levels? I had to jumpstart my cycle because I was not ovulating, and the supplements really made a difference to me. I also LOVE the book “Taking Charge of Your Fertility,” and by tracking my temperatures and ovulation, my reproductive endocrinologist and I were able to determine that I had a short luteal phase and kind of work with/around that.

I had an IUD after my first baby so I didn’t get a period — when I had it removed, my cycle had actually regulated itself quite well but I still stayed on progesterone for the first trimester of both of my pregnancies (and I started right after ovulation both times to make sure my hormones were at the right level).

  17. Brittany on November 30, 2015 at 12:19 pm

We got our tree this weekend, but haven’t decorated it yet. I’m excited to break out the ornaments, play holiday music and decorate one day this week.

Those cookies!!!!!! I made another batch this weekend too. 🙂

    P is just too sweet!

Loving the tree, Liv looks like she is having a blast decorating and skating :). I put all my decorations up Friday, and I’m loving it! Trying to burn through all my Fall scented candles so I can use the new B&BW holiday candles I picked up a few days ago. We too put our dogs name (and his bazillion nicknames) in every song ever!

  21. Chelsa on November 30, 2015 at 3:33 pm
