Hot Bar Record

Heyyyyy 😀 Happy Saturday to ya! What are you up to?

I’m still having a blasting in Orlando and even set a WORLD RECORD for lowest Gina purchase at the Hot Bar.

hot bar

I got hot bar for dinner after oven yoga last night and even though I was starvin’ and got plenty of food, I only spent $9.83!!! The average is usually around $15. They don’t call it Whole Paycheck for nothin’ 😉

hot bar (2)

I had vegan miso slaw (my FAVORITE hot bar item. If your local Whole Paycheck it, hit it up), Babylonian Treasure Salad (another fave), sweet potato hummus, greens, yucca, brocc, roasted garlic, and an over-cooked chewy piece of salmon, which I ate anyway.

Continuing the spirit of weighing your food before purchasing, we all had a late-night stop at Menchie’s 😀

I <3 MENCHIES!!!!

menchies

I rolled with the dairy-free Dole Pineapple froyo and blueberries. ‘Twas ridiculous.

This morning, I got up bright and early for Bikram. Even though the postures are the same for every class, it’s amazing how every session can be so different, depending on how you feel and your flexibility that day. Today’s class was much more difficult for me- I struggled in some of my strongest poses, but tried to be patient and get back into it when I could.

I washed down class with a beet, apple, carrot, ginger juice:

juice

(and find it ironic that the yoga studio uses Styrofoam cups… I’ll bring my own tomorrow)

and a Zumba class. I have to take advantage of the awesome classes that are available here- before I know it, I’ll be back in the barren fitness desert known as Valdosta.

Brunch:

bagel

Good grains bagel with capers, egg white, smoked salmon and a bananner on the side.

I’m off to shop 😀

Have a wonderful day!

xoxo,

Gina

Today’s workout jam: “Neutron Star Collision” by Muse

Today’s tip: Try adding some pulses into your usual weight training moves- my favorite to pulse out are plie squats, crunches, bicep curls and lat raises. Hold the exertion part of the movement and pulse up and down, keeping your abs tight and proper form. It will burn out the muscles a little bit more and is a great way to switch things up.

I have yet to try a a bagel with smoked salmon but you make it look so delicious. I can’t wait to try that when I start eating fish again.

    so fun and exciting!
totally jealous of your adventure, and all the eats you get. I’m stuck in a place where there isn’t anything ha.

that is weird that they use styrofoam cups, definitely bring your own if you plan on getting more!

I’m going to be making my first trip to Whole Foods today! I’m so excited, but so nervous that I’m going to drain my bank account in there! Good for you for stepping up and saying that you’ll bring your own cup for veggie juice tomorrow from the studio!

Your fro yo mix seems like a dream.

I finally have a Whole Paycheck (relatively) close to me. I’m so excited. I saw the hot bar, but I didn’t hit it up unfortunately cause it was my night to cook for my parents. Oh well. I have 3 more months to eat from it 😉

That is a great record for the WF hot bar– I always spent $$$$$ when I lived near a Whole Foods…even after gorging myself on the free samples, HA! 🙂

I live down the street from an Einsteins and always get the Good Grains bagel – is the smoked salmon there any good? I’ve never tried it before but after reading your rave reviews about it, I want to now! Is it good at Einsteins or should I get some from Publix and try it at home instead?

So glad you’re having a great time in Orlando! And yes styrafoam is so incongruent w/ a yoga studio (of all places).

Shopping..hope you did some damage on the plastic 🙂

Thanks for the bday well wishes on FB and the Bloggie…I was so touched. I read it as I was leaving the gym from my blackberry and it brought a big smile to my face 🙂

That juice has inspired me. I have some left over beet juice from a soup that I just made (and posted about). I’m going to make one of those drinks soon. 🙂

I added pulses to my weight routine today! It burns! Hahaha!

  25. CaSaundra on June 13, 2010 at 8:31 am

All of that food does look great–wish I had a Whole Foods near me, even though it really is expensive!

  26. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on June 13, 2010 at 8:41 am

I’m impressed with your hot bar abilities…I don’t think I’ve ever spent under $15 there!! And you definitely got a ton of delicious stuff 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

  27. seriously on June 13, 2010 at 9:06 am

I’m not surprised they use styrofoam cups, I wouldn’t be surpised if they had vending machines selling candy and cookies as most gyms I’ve visited do just that.

  28. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on June 13, 2010 at 10:11 am

Yum that is my favourite juice combo!

I was at WF yesterday and wanted to go to the hot bar sooo badly, but I had already eaten lunch at home! But I guess that was better for my wallet. 😉

  29. christina on June 13, 2010 at 10:13 am

ahh, the WF hot bar is soooo much $ but irresistible! shoot. i think that’s what i want for lunch today. yep, it is. thanks for the idea:)
