Hungry Eyes

Hiiii 😀 Hope you’re having a great night <3 We just got back from birth class and now I’m finally getting to blog, with a wild and angry maltipoo clanking her bowl around and shrieking at me.

bell

That’s the face you get when you take Bella’s food away.

She’s not allowed to eat after 7pm since she has her dental cleaning in the am, and she’s acting like I’ve never fed her before.

Help me.

I brought that protein yogurt with me to munch on the way to class tonight: Nutribiotic protein powder (hoping my Sun Warrior gets here soon- I like the texture so much better), sheep’s milk yogurt, cinnamon, almond butter and chocolate chips.

Earlier today, I got some work done, also started planning for Saturday night’s dinner party, and it was Taco Tuesday for lunch.

taco

I just heated up a leftover jalapeno turkey burger, sliced it in half and enjoyed it atop corn tortillas with greens, avocadoes and salsa.

The Pilot used to not like leftovers –I’ve always loved them because I think food tastes better when the flavors have more time to set- but if I change them into something different, he doesn’t have a prob with them. Usually I try to plan it out so we have enough food for dinner, maybe some leftover for one of our lunches, and that’s it.

Off to figure out my Focus On post for tomorrow. I made a little video for you guys, but have to crop it since it exceeds the 10-minute limit, and then re-publish and upload it.

See ya in the morning <3

xoxo

Gina

Something to do: September is almost over! How many fitness goals did you accomplish? Did you try out the September Workout yet?

I immediately imagined Patrick Swayze when I saw your post title. Bella is much cuter 🙂

I’m in the peak of my training for the NY marathon in November. September was full of fitness goals, all of which I have met!
I ran my fastest 4 mile race – ever, PR ing at 7:46/mile (!!!)
    I ran 4 successful long training runs – 16, 18, 15 and 21 miles.
I have incorporated speed work and hills in my training
I have done yoga every week!
    Yay for a successful September.

Its so funny how quickly puppies can forget how often they are fed and given treats and snacks. ;p

I love leftovers, I think they can taste better than the original meal a lot of times too!

  5. Jenna on September 28, 2011 at 1:32 am

I always take the option of keeping my animals at the vet overnight before their appointments just so I don’t have to deal with that problem. I know I would cave the second they turned their sad eyes on me! I’m weak.

  6. Amanda on September 28, 2011 at 1:59 am

    lol, hungry eyes indeed!

time is like day and night! what happened to september??

  8. Kate on September 28, 2011 at 2:16 am

Leftovers are my favourite food 🙂 . Almost everything tastes better the next day!

  9. Sara on September 28, 2011 at 3:37 am

You have my sympathies. My fat cat is on a diet. Both Jase and me have been attacked by him when we were late with feeding time. He makes a LOT of noise and then, if it’s not happening quickly enough, starts trying to trip us up by flopping on his back in front of us, meowing loudly (like ‘CAN’T YOU SEE ME??’), then he just goes for the ankles. It doesn’t hurt much, which is probably why he is no hunter..

  10. Ginny on September 28, 2011 at 4:29 am

That turkey burger taco looks DELISH!

  11. Jaclyn on September 28, 2011 at 5:13 am

    ahhhwwwww poor lil bell.
i’m sure she will be jussssst fine, but it’s funny how they freak out like that, ha

your nori nacho chips look delish, im kinda jealous and i wanna try that
i DO love seaweed and nori too, not too fishy for me – usually, but sometimes they are, you have to find a good brand i think

My fiancé doesn’t like to eat leftovers while my motto is No Meal Left Behind!

  13. Kaila @healthyhelperblog! on September 28, 2011 at 7:04 am

I agree! Food always tastes better the next day!!

  14. Hillary on September 28, 2011 at 7:12 am

Being that I’m usually cooking for myself, I’ve definitely gotten used to leftovers! The trick is freezing some, so you’re not eating the same thing every single day for a week!

As for fitness goals, I’ve definitely been weight training more consistently, but I need to get my eats back in order. I’ve kind of “fallen off the wagon” these last few weeks, and my tighter jeans are a sign that it’s time to get back on!

  15. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on September 28, 2011 at 7:33 am

“The Pilot used to not like leftovers” <– hope he gets over that b/c with a newborn baby, he'll be lucky if he gets a cold piece of toast the first three mos of baby's life 🙂

Ok that sounds bad (sorry, Pilot!) and I dont think anyone "loves" them but honestly, I always say Planned Leftovers Save Sanity. Those meltdown, super hectic, pre-dinner bewitching hours when nothing new is going to be made…having things on-hand to reheat is seriously a gift from above!

  16. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on September 28, 2011 at 7:49 am

I like leftovers, but only for another 1-2 days after. I hate having to eat leftovers for a week straight! 😛

My fitness goal for this month was to try out swimming. And I loved it! I can definitely see it becoming a regular part of my workout routine now.

  17. Heather (Heather's Dish) on September 28, 2011 at 8:03 am

i love leftovers and my hubby is NOT a fan. he always says that the same meal for 2 meals is enough, so if it exceeds his 2-meal rule then it’s not happening. more for me!

  18. Jackie @ Baking Charms on September 28, 2011 at 8:57 am

I LOVE sheep’s yogurt. I buy local at Whole Foods and it beats any other I’ve tried!

  19. kathleen @ the daily crumb on September 28, 2011 at 9:10 am

i loved your schweaty september workout this month!!

i am definitely not a leftover fan, but, like the pilot, if they’re changed up a bit, i’m usually good 🙂

  20. Shannon on September 28, 2011 at 9:28 am

Bella is such a cutie! I’ve said that a lot in my comments..but its soo true! 🙂
Loving your eats! Have a nice day, Gina 🙂

Ooh, great idea using the leftover turkey burger for tacos!

  22. AR on September 28, 2011 at 10:21 am

I’ve done the September and the August workouts once a week for the entire month… next month’s goal is starting up spin classes again 🙂

  23. Ali @ Peaches and Football on September 28, 2011 at 10:23 am

Sheep milk yogurt. How does that compare nutritionally and taste to goats?

    Do you like it better?

    • Fitnessista on September 28, 2011 at 11:15 am

it’s pretty similar, but less tangy. i like them both 🙂

  24. Kelly on September 28, 2011 at 11:15 am

Bella is such a cutie!!! Hope the appointment goes well!

  25. Katie @ Plates and Paste on September 28, 2011 at 11:19 am

I don’t understand people who don’t like leftovers…how do you not like leftovers?? I agree with you on how the food tastes better because the flavors get to sit more 🙂

And yes, I’ve done the September workout and loved it!

  26. Krystina (Organically Me) on September 28, 2011 at 11:22 am

Poor Bella. 🙁 My (new) cat is ALWAYS hungry. Every time I feed her, she’s satisfied for a little while and then starts meowing like crazy and scratching at the cabinet where we keep her food. It’s stressful!

  27. Erin on September 28, 2011 at 11:44 am

I love leftovers too! I find they taste better the next day…but only in some cases. When I was little (and not so health-conscious) I used to save my Kraft Dinner for the next day because it tasted so much better.

  28. Allison on September 28, 2011 at 1:10 pm

Aw, such a sweet puppy face! She reminds me so much of my puppy that we had to put down over the summer… She used to make the same face at us when we would interrupt her meals 😛

  29. Jenny on September 28, 2011 at 1:46 pm

My roommate isn’t a leftover person, so I reap all the benefits! One’s woman’s leftovers are another woman’s…something something. Whatever. Free food.

    • Fitnessista on September 28, 2011 at 3:18 pm

      hahah. amen!

  30. Melissa on September 28, 2011 at 1:50 pm

I have a lulu question!!! So I made the plunge and bought a some stuff from the website since there isn’t a store near me 🙁 I got a dance studio jacket which i love…a couple tops that all fit perfect and wunder unders, which i was most excited for. They fit….but they’re REALLY tight. I got a 4 and I’m thinking I needed a 6. I’m placing another order tonight and I’m thinking about getting the groove pants…do they fit the same as the wunder unders or are they a little looser? I’m 5’2” and about 113 lbs, but have a booty on me…lol! Any suggestions would help!!!

    • Fitnessista on September 28, 2011 at 3:18 pm

      hey girl,
the wunder unders ARE tight. i have both 4s and 6s and they fit me pretty much the same. as far as groove pants go, i think you could go with a 4. if you feel like you’d be more comfortable in a 6, again i have both sizes, and the difference isn’t too crazy, though you may have to get more hemmed off the 6 because all the pants are super long.

      • Melissa on September 29, 2011 at 9:45 am

Thanks for your help!!! I hate when they’re super tight because I’d like to wear them just as leggings with boots for fall!!! I ordered a pair of wunder’s in 6’s…we’ll see!! haha. Thanks again for your help!!!

  31. Ali on September 28, 2011 at 2:20 pm

I used to hate left overs too. I just hated being bored. Now I totally eat the same things over and over and over again. As for turning over a new fitness leaf, I have been doing p90x for the whole month! Awesome! I look forward to your video too!

    • Fitnessista on September 28, 2011 at 3:16 pm

      a full month- that’s amazing!

  32. jrm on September 28, 2011 at 3:32 pm

I have a yellow lab who did something similar. She had a reaction to some food a few weeks back. Had to change some things around and then restart her on something new, involved decreasing quantities before restarting — all told about a day of “less” food. You’d think I didn’t feed for years and years with the STARING. Hope Bella’s cleaning went well.

  33. Julie S. on September 28, 2011 at 5:21 pm

Too funny – I can totally make out Bella’s scowl! LOL!

    • Fitnessista on September 28, 2011 at 5:41 pm

      she’s outta control

  34. Dominique on September 28, 2011 at 10:49 pm

OMG I love that pic of Bella! What a character. If I don’t feed the cats on time they’ll just start their high-pitched meow until I feed them.

I had tacos yesterday too! I didn’t even realize it I partook in Taco Tuesday until now. I also had tacos for lunch today to finish up the leftover meat and fillings. I love tacos!

    • Fitnessista on September 28, 2011 at 11:32 pm

tacos are a food from the heavens 😉

  35. Nicole Rodriguez (@Nicole2112) on September 29, 2011 at 12:12 pm

Yo – that dog would kill you if she had thumbs. That face is serious! 🙂
Tacos are my ultimate favorite food. *drool*
