I’m a fan

Hey! Happy Sunday <3 Hope you’re relaxing and chilling 🙂

Last night’s shenanigans were a lot of fun.

I couldn’t stay at the bridal shower for very long, since I had to meet everyone at the game, but all of the girls from work were there and an amazing spread of food was set out.

The theme was Costa Rica, since the bride will be honeymooning there, so we each made different Costa Rican foods. My contribution was the black beans 🙂

[No words for the cake. Hahah]

I changed into my U of A gear and went down to campus to meet everyone for the game. It was military night, so we got discount tickets and everyone in the squadron got to sit together.

As fun an exciting as the game was –let’s be real, I don’t really understand football. At all- the craziest moment was when a little kid came up to me and said, “Um, excuse me… you have a bug on you.”

Attached to my Wunder Under crops was this little BIG guy:

moth

[Not me holding it- the Pilot]

Whyyyyyy oh why do bugs flock to me?!

The game made me pretty nostalgic.

Last time I was at a U of A football game was with the Pilot, almost 6 years ago on one of our first dates. I was soooo nervous, and was wearing a pink U of A shirt, and he had bought U of A gear to wear to impress me <3 He could have worn a Wilbur the Wildcat suit and still impressed me 😉 Speaking of mascots, I still don’t understand what Stanford’s is. It looks like a Christmas tree?

Anyway,

I started off this Sunday with another bowl of PB & J oats, since they were so good yesterday.

oats

-1/2 C GF oats

-1/2 scoop Sun Warrior

-almond milk to thin it out

-1/2 mashed banana

-1/2 T peanut butter

-cinnamon

-blob of organic jelly on top

oats (2)

Lovely 🙂

It’s cleanstravaganza over here. Yardwork, house cleaning, errands, getting ready for the week.

Off to get to it!

See ya with a Family post later today <3

xoxo

Gina

Looks like a fun night! I don’t really follow foot ball either but sometimes just being at the game with everyone else who’s really into it is just fun!

I did some cleaning this weekend too and saw Contagion after work on Saturday – but as always- weekends are lonely –

  6. Postdoc on September 18, 2011 at 1:48 pm

Yes, Stanford’s mascot is a tree! I’ve spent time there but don’t quite get it either, but more info is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_Tree . Sounds like you had a great day! Bay Area girl here, we also went to check out my first college football game yesterday, Berkeley vs Presbyterian. It was crazy because they played it in SF’s baseball stadium! (ie, they painted lines over and played right over the baseball portion of the field) It was surprisingly awesome considering that I know basically nothing about football, but always fun to hang out with friends (and Berkeley fans are *really* into supporting their team, so it was fun 🙂

    • Amanda on September 18, 2011 at 2:16 pm

actually, Stanford’s BAND’s mascot is the tree. The university’s mascot is the color cardinal 🙂

      • Postdoc on September 18, 2011 at 5:17 pm

Actually, Stanford doesn’t have an official mascot, but the tree is the “unofficial” mascot.

That’s the best penis cake I’ve ever seen, and unfortunately I’ve been to many bachelorette’s and seen my fair share.

  11. Dynamics on September 18, 2011 at 2:21 pm

I went to The Farmers Market and got some great stuff. I am trying celery root, leek and a new version of sweet potato. Gina, I buy organic as much as possible and this is the first time ever that I have had a stowaway. EEK!

  12. Brittany (Eating Bird Food) on September 18, 2011 at 2:21 pm

I have no words for the cake either…. haha But I love hearing about your first date with the Pilot. Soo cute.

    Have a great Sunday lady!

Wow I’ve never had Costa Rican food before. Looks excellent.

  14. Abby @ Abz 'n' Oats on September 18, 2011 at 2:29 pm

That penis cake is outta control! lol. I always thought those were only for bachelorette parties!

Your PBJ oats look so good! 🙂 Do you make them in the microwave or stove top?

  15. Jackie @ That Deep Breath on September 18, 2011 at 2:46 pm

Did you go to U of A? I am thinking of transfering there but I can’t decide between U of A or ASU…any help?

Such a cute story about your guys’ first date!

  16. RachelG on September 18, 2011 at 2:54 pm

My new ingredient for the week is my Sun Warrior protein that arrived from Open Sky! Can’t wait to start using it in my foodage. 🙂

  17. fittingbackin on September 18, 2011 at 2:56 pm

ugh! Bugs don’ t flock to me (thankfully – that is HUGE!) but mosquitos do so that sucks in its own way. boo.

I love a football game – so exciting! I just like the fanfare of it all – the tailgating, the peeps, the cheers, etc.!

  18. Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) on September 18, 2011 at 3:10 pm

So cute 🙂 One of our first dates was to a University of Washington girl’s volleyball game– we actually have a pretty fantastic team– but we’ve never been to a football game together! He doesn’t really follow sports (which I love about him because they bore the heck out of me).

How cute that he bought gear to impress you 😉 I love that you two seem to still be in your honeymoon period haha. I hope ours never ends either!

  19. chely on September 18, 2011 at 3:13 pm

Your post made me nostalgic for my college days … having also attended a PAC-10 (now the PAC-12) school I’m very familiar with the Stanford band and the mascot. Back when I was in school we used to have a small homecoming parade in the village and it seemed we always played Stanford during homecoming and pretty much every year the band and tree would fill out an application and march in our homecoming parade. I still watch my Bruins on tv but there is nothing like attending live games.

Girl, I just bought my first pair of Wunder Unders and I’m in looooove. They’re like a second skin!

    • Fitnessista on September 18, 2011 at 4:59 pm

welcome to the obsession! my uniform from now until march

  21. Jen on September 18, 2011 at 3:41 pm

Are you nice to bugs? I’m convinced that insects flock to people who won’t kill them. I always put spiders outside (or pretend I didn’t just see that big ass thing on my ceiling, and walk away in hopes that it will just disappear), and it works against me because I’m pretty sure I encounter more spiders in my apartment than most people do.

As for the bridal shower, I want some penis cake!!! LOLing at the chocolate chips.

    • Fitnessista on September 18, 2011 at 4:58 pm

maybe that’s what is happening? i never kill bugs. i feel too terrible

  22. megan on September 18, 2011 at 3:53 pm

that costa rican feast looks pretty much amazing!

    • Fitnessista on September 18, 2011 at 4:58 pm

there was SO much good food!

  23. Brigid on September 18, 2011 at 3:58 pm

Ha! The boy and I were just talking about the Stanford tree thang last night. I’ve still never seen it, but apparently it’s the band mascot that hops around on the sidelines. Sounds bizarre. I’m not a big football fan either despite being from Oklahoma and a former high-school cheerleader. My boy loves NFL, though, so I’m well versed at this point. I enjoy it more now than I used to, but I’d still never seek it out.

Oh, and yes, that is a righteous penis cake. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 18, 2011 at 4:58 pm

isn’t it? she went into crazy detail making it 🙂

  24. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on September 18, 2011 at 4:34 pm

The bugs probably flock to you because they can smell the pregnancy hormones and think you’re a nice place to land…seriously, not sure. Some people are just prone to bugs. My sister is that way.

Costa Rica theme. Love it! That’s where I spent a month doing my first yoga teacher training (10 years ago…wow) and I’d love to go back one day. I know they’ll love it there. How fun for them to honeymoon there!

  25. Jenna on September 18, 2011 at 4:48 pm

I have the same football philosophy, I cheer for my alma mater and leaver it at that, lol.

At first I missed the “bridal shower” part and thought “why the hell do they have a penis cake???” hahaha.

  32. Lindsay @ biking before bed on September 18, 2011 at 8:36 pm

I love the idea of a Costa Rican themed meal! I think my favorite dish would have to be plantains. I’m glad I’m not the only one who still doesn’t understand football:)

My parents have a black toy poodle named Bella. Her and white Bella will be soul mates!

Your man is not glued to the TV watching USA’s performance in the Rugby World Cup? From my perspective the RWC has taken over the world at the moment! So far, your boys have beat Russia quite convincingly, but lost against Ireland, which was a major upset than nobody can believe. Next they play Aussie, which is.. well, it’s probably going to be painful to watch and I’d expect the US to take a real spanking.
Who DOES understand the rules really? I read the best explanation on the GayNZ site – for example, if they say ‘hes’ not straight’, it means that he threw the ball in a wonky manner. They also emphasise the point that ‘scoring is good’. 😀
I think American football is a bit different, but if you want a good laugh:

    • Kate on September 18, 2011 at 9:39 pm

You’re not a kiwi are you? Its RWC fever over here at the moment, great atmosphere everywhere. As for the rules….. Who knows? I think the highlight of the first AB’s game was a ripped shirt requiring a change hehe 😉

Yes, I’m in shaky Christchurch. Was very shaky today too ;-/

Yayyy, go Cats! My goal next year (POSSIBLY this year) is to make it back out to AZ to go to a game. Seeing your pics brings me back!!! Missin’ Tucson.

Definitely want to make black beans that way, looks/sounds amazing.
