Indian Spaghetti

Rainy night, Indian food on the couch = not too shabby.

Meg and i

We made a little stop at Saffron to get takeout for dinner, and per usual, it was everything I could wish for. I’m so excited that we found an Indian restaurant in Tucson that we LOVE.

Chicken tikka masala, dal mahkani and chicken vindaloo with rice:

Meg and I enjoyed ours on top of spiralized zucchini: Indian spaghetti.

Tea and coffee for all:

Before our feast, we decided to hit up Foothills Mall for a little shoppage. It’s kind of far from anywhere in town, but worth the drive because they have an Off 5th- one of my all-time fave stores. I get almost all of my jeans there, shoes for a steal and adorable outfits for Liv. The only thing I really loved today was this candle:

Candle

(I have a mild candle addiction)

and new sneaks for teaching from the Nike outlet- a fun way to brighten up my grey and black weight room uniform.

A little late on the neon train but it feels good to be here 😉

Going to practice tomorrow’s new Zumba dance a few times and call it a night.

Hope you’re enjoying your weekend so far!

xoxo

Something to talk about: Fitness trends! Is there something you’ve seen lately that you love, or anything you’re not a fan of? I’ve been skeptical about the neon thing for a while, but getting used to it, I like it now. I don’t think I’ll be able to get on board with the funky patterned tights, even though I’ve seen quite a few girls at work rock them.

Today’s workout jam:

That dinner looks amazing!! I went to a Zumba fundraiser tonight and I kept thinking about your Zumba posts. It was so cool! A bunch of teachers came to raise money and teach a class 🙂

Cute shoes! Love the color. And indian food on the couch, amen. Hope it was as good as it looks!

I was a little nervous about the neon thing, too, but now I’m starting to love it! I may not wear neon to work, but to workout — I can handle that. 🙂 Speaking of spiralized zucchini, I REALLY need a spiralizer. Any suggestions on a good, yet inexpensive, one?

      Me too! Need one badly.

    LOVE the shoes!

Love the shoes! How do your spirilazed veggie noodles come out? I can’t get mine to come out very long ….

  6. Julie on July 28, 2012 at 3:32 am

    J. Lo is still gorgeous! I love neon shoes to spice up my outfits. I try not to get too fancy with tops because they malfunction sometimes…

    Love the new trainers!

  8. Seja_LiveLaughLove on July 28, 2012 at 4:46 am

LOVE shoes + love JLo = Love this post 😀
I’m not sure that this is officially a “fitness trend” but I’ve always been the one for affordable work out clothes.
After all you are sweating in them, but I think I may be falling into the trap of lululemon pants. In the end I guess it doesn’t matter whether you spent $12 or $82 in clothes as long as you feel comfortable in clothes and can put your work in.

I also got into neon a tad late… my neon orange running shorts 😛

    Rather late than never ay?

  10. Marie on July 28, 2012 at 6:43 am

I’ve never tried Indian food before but it always looks so good! I am always late on trends because I’m never cool enough. Haha. I don’t think I’d ever do skinny jeans, though!

Great picture of you and Meg. I started noticing a few men at the gym wearing neon shoes also.

Fitness/fashion trend: Running skirts! At first I was skeptical, but once I ran in one, I’ve never looked back. Unbelievably comfortable and cute, too! Brilliant.

I just adore your blog! Thank you for all of the food, fitness, and fashion inspiration that you share with us on a daily basis. I did the summer shape up which had me sweating and huffing and puffing every second, but smiling ear to ear when I was finished! You mentioned Zumba in this post and it got me wondering if you ever plan on posting a Zumba video to share with us? I’ve only taken a class once and LOVED it, but the way you rave about it so often I’d love to try it with you as the instructor!

I like neon in small doses! But some of the head-to-toe neon outfits I’ve seen on Lululemon mannequins is just a little too much for me! 😛

I’m in love with the shoes!!!!

I want J. Lo’s black and gold sparkly top! 🙂

loving the shoes & I am obsessed with that song, definitely on the workout playlist!

I LOVE Nike Frees and I love how they come in such bright colors. I just bought some new ones the other week for running. They’re a bright purple-y pink and so fun!

  19. melissa on July 28, 2012 at 1:20 pm

Gina, I would love for you to do a write up on how to pick the best shoes for your fitness activity. I’ve heard that you should pick your shoes based on your activity but what if I can’t afford specific shoes for specific things. Typically I just buy a comfy cross trainer but I’ve read somewhere (who knows where) that cross trainers really aren’t that great for you.

I like to mix up my work outs and they can range from Insanity, general weight training, running (light running), or HIIT work outs…. anything that keeps me moving.

my husband and I can never get enough of Indian food…ah! And although I’m not a fan of neon colors, I have been loving the looks of bright sneakers, like yours! I think they’re a great way to bring everything to life especially if you wear neutral colored workout clothes. 🙂

Our Zumba instructor announced that today was National Dance Day. Wanted to wish you a happy one!

I too have a candle obsession. My hubby teases me about it but when the power goes out my little problem is a lifesaver! Oh, and I also need to join SPA= small plates anonymous. I love random small plates to eat my lunches on.

  23. Lisa on July 28, 2012 at 3:58 pm

Love that idea to put the sauce on top of zucchini! Makes it slightly healthier and fresh!
I don’t eat indian food nearly enough, although I love the stuff!
Your shoes are absolutely adorable. I bought a pair of obnoxiously bright pink lululemon capris and am obsessed with them. I feel weird when everyone else at spin class is all in black at 5 AM. And I show up with my bright clothes;)

  24. Lydia @HappyHealthyConfident on July 28, 2012 at 4:33 pm

Oooh! Indian Spaghetti sounds so yummy!!

  25. Negar M on July 28, 2012 at 7:48 pm

Okay, I’m foreign, and from a nation super close to India…. but I have never eaten Indian food. Is there any particular dish that is a good intro to the cuisine? I’m only asking because it all looks like baby food…..even though Iranian food looks like baby food too and I should know better.

Ugh I feel so judgemental and bad. I need encouragement.

  27. Sara on July 28, 2012 at 10:33 pm

There’s a neon thing going on? Didn’t that come and go back in 1988?

I can’t believe I’m missing the second coming of neon. In hindsight, shoes may be a better way to go about it. I have serious recall issues with images of myself in a neon pink unitard. I was 16 ish and teaching ‘Jazzercise’, which was the coolest thing ever and, really, the genesis of every ‘exercise to music’ class that has followed.

I believe there was big hair and blue eye-shadow to go with that outfit. Nothing good happened to fashion in the 80’s. Be glad you are too young to have embarrassed yourself by living through it. It’s like the whole world simultaneously threw away their sense of style.

Woohoo for another cool music vid. J-Lo has the best bod in the biz, IMO. She looks great, and she also looks like she eats, and maybe has some wine too. 😉

  28. Kim@hungryhealthygirl.com on July 28, 2012 at 11:54 pm

Cute shoes! I’m with you on the tights…I just could not pull those off.

  29. Jessica on July 29, 2012 at 10:58 am

I love your blog Gina! Have you ever tried the Indian food from trader joes? They gave a great curry summer sauce. You can make it with chicken or I’ve made it vegan with sweet potatoes, garbanzo beans and peas.
