Itching to Move

Hi lovely bloggies 😀 Thank you again for all of the get well wishes! I’m hanging in there.. fighting it 😉

Last night, the pilot and I broke out some of the tea that Celestial Seasonings sent me:

tea

I’m a huge fan of all of their teas and I loved the tummy mint. I’m on a minty tea kick right now and that stuff was perfect right before bed.

We slept for 10 hours last night…. I can’t even tell you how glorious it felt to sleeeeeeeep in. I woke up feelng less than stellar but much better than I was doing last night.

Of course, my appetite is always the last thing to go 😉 I was starving this morning!

We had his and her oats.

oats

The pilot had 1 cup of oats cooked in water, topped with milk, 1/2 scoop chocolate whey protein and peanut butter:

I had 1/2 cup oats cooked in water, with 1/2 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior, an apple that I “baked” in the microwave for 2 minutes, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and 1 T almond butter

oats (2)

After we happily munched our bfasts, I was so ready to get in a sweat sesh. After two days of no cardio, I was itching to move, didn’t feel quite as deathly as I have been and decided to roll with it. So the pilot and I hit up the gym and I did 15 minutes of abs (reverse crunches, stability ball ab twists, weighted teasers and frog crunches) and 45 easy minutes on the elliptical. Even though I didn’t go nearly as hard as I usually do, it felt so amazing to get a little sweat going to get rid of the toxins.

After the gym, we went to our favorite juice place.

One of my favorite creations: wheatgrass shot, ginger and apple juice

We ran some errands, came back to the casa and I started prepping schtuff for tonight’s dinner party.

Marinated the salmon in bourbon, maple syrup, orange zest, orange juice, sea salt and pepper:

Made raw chocolate whipped cream (young coconut meat, vanilla, agave, raw cacao powder) for the malted chocolate tarts:

mpisse

Artichoke and Oregano dip from Eat, Drink and Be Vegan

artdip

Hummus so tasty, my camera ate the picture 😉

Chopped all the veg:

Made the salmon garnish (minced bell pepper and green onion)

garish

And mashed sweet potatoes(baked organic sweet potatoes, almond milk, Earth Balance, Sucanat, sea salt, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg)

sp

(I want to swim in them)

Those little beauties are keeping warm in the slow cooker 😉

All I have left to do is shower and make myself presentable, set out all of the dishes, plate and assemble 😀

I’m out like sauerkraut but I hope you all have a fabulous Saturday.

See ya tomorrow with a dinner party re-cap.

xoxo,

Gina

bicycle race is an amazing song. and that salmon looks pretty darn good too. i’m a relatively new follower to your blog but how much fish do you eat as opposed to other meats? just curious as the majority of my meat comes from chicken and turkey and i feel like lately youve been showing a lot of fish (of course i could just be imagining that haha)

    • Fitnessista on February 6, 2010 at 9:53 pm

      hey karyn,
it’s been almost 2 years since i’ve had other meats- fish and eggs are my only animal protein sources. so yes, i do eat a lot of fish 😉

You have lucky guests b/c those sweet potatoes and the choc filling or whipped cream you made…all looks delish Gena! Oh and the dip from ED & BV…I didnt even know that was in there. I swear, I only know what’s in ED & BV b/c I see the food on blogs, I am “dense” for that book and miss half the good stuff. Off to research…

    Hi gina,
Hope u feel better dear. I’m sure the wheatgrass juice will work wonders. Can’t wait to see pics of your dinner party. The Salmon looked great.
I have a question for you- what are the benefits of having almond milk as opposed to dairy…i use about 1 cup of skim milk for my protein/ green drink/ smoothie for breakfast. I was thinking about substituting almond milk…but wanted to know more about it, before i gave it a shot.
    Thanks! gina.

    • Fitnessista on February 6, 2010 at 9:51 pm

      hey geetha,
i prefer almond milk because i don’t usually eat cow’s dairy products (only goat).

  35. Jonna on February 7, 2010 at 11:24 am

    Hi Gina,

I absolutely love your blog and read it whenever I can. I hope that you are feeling better soon! I have some questions for you regarding daily caloric intake and activity levels. I was wondering if I could e-mail you some questions? After my 2nd and 3rd child (twins!), I decided to really step up and lose some weight and get in better shape. I started regularly exercising and eating well, etc. Now that I’ve been in a place that I’ve been comfortable weight wise (sometimes up a few or down a few!), I feel like I struggle with maintenance (hence the ups and downs) and am not really sure what I should be consuming on a daily basis. I also am interested in adding to my exercise routine. Anyways, was wondering if I could ask you a few more specifics? Thanks! Jonna

  36. Erin on February 7, 2010 at 1:36 pm

ooh, those potatoes look TASTY! do you have a recipe or did you just throw everything together?

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2010 at 1:42 pm

i just threw everything together 🙂 it was about 1/2 cup almond milk, 1/3 C earth balance, 2 T sucanat, 1 t cinnamon, 1/4 t nutmeg, pinch of sea salt and 1 T vanilla

  37. All Women Stalker on February 9, 2010 at 12:29 pm

Peanut butter and oats? Man, I’ve got to try that. Your salmon looks awesome, by the way.
