Just one more thing

Girls night!

pizza and salad

The Pilot had a roll call (aka an official meeting among pilots that involves lots of Jeremiah Weed whisky), so Marisa and Michele (and Levi!) came over last night to hang out. I didn’t take a ton of pics, but it was so much fun to share some vino, get takeout from Renee’s Organic Oven (the salad from my “slice and salad” was missing, so I just grabbed some greens from the fridge), eat on the patio and enjoy a lovely evening. Liv and Levi play so cute together- they rolled around on a blanket, laughing and babbling at each other.

Liv slept a LOT yesterday. After a full night of zzzz’s, her first nap was 3 hours and her second nap was 2 1/2 hours. Usually she naps 3 times, each for an hour or so, and I plan out what to do during each nap (usually it’s workout, laundry and shower or work on the blog)- so I didn’t know what to do with myself when she was snoozing for so long.

TurboFire,

cleaned the house,

showered and did my hair

wrote a Fashion post, worked on an upcoming blog event, made some lunch

salad beast3

(salad beast with potatoes, chickpeas, greens, turkey, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, olives and Goddess dressing)

added to her baby book and read.

I had originally planned to take her swimming and/or to the zoo, but every time I finished doing something, I’d check the monitor and see her still sleeping away. Someone must be going through a growth spurt.

Breakfast:

egg scramble

2 eggs scrambled with turkey and spinach + tortilla for scooping

When I do egg scrambles, I’ll add each thing to the pan according to what needs to cook the longest. First, I wilted the spinach, moved it aside, scrambled the eggs, and when they were almost finished, added the turkey to heat up.

Off to work! I have no idea what I’m teaching this morning. It’s kind of a rush to go check the board and see what they have me doing 😉

Hope you have a happy Saturday!

xoxo

hahah no worries! i was cracking up

  6. Kristen on May 19, 2012 at 11:45 am

    Your hair looks phenominal!

I’m the same way when my baby takes longer naps. While you’d think I would like the 2 1/2 snoozes, they kinda mess me up. I’m like you thinking, “Well, what do I do now?” But I’m certainly not waking him up! haha

This is random and a little personal but do you (or any of you other moms) ever have people comment on your baby in a way that rubs you wrong? My son is 2 1/2 months and people ALWAYS comment on how he must not miss meals or “Look at those thighs and cheeks” and call him a chunk. He’s 22 3/4 long and weighs 12 lb 5 oz. I didn’t think that was abnormal. He does look like a cute little butterball and I know people don’t mean anything by it but it gets SO old. How do you handle it if it ever happens?

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2012 at 3:45 pm

      hahah exactly!
and yes, it definitely happens. everyone comments on her amazing eyes and how beautiful she is (which is very true!) but i hate when people say that she’s tiny. yes, she’s tiny, she’s a baby! it rubs me the wrong way because she lost so much weight initially and we worked so hard trying to get her to gain weight and flush the jaundice out. she’s in a great percentile and totally healthy- it’s funny because it’s like they’re too small or too big (which is how they make you feel), and they’re perfect either way.
i would definitely be annoyed in your case. i LOVE chunky babies, but what makes it ok for an adult to make comments about their bellies or thighs, or a baby’s appearance at all?

  7. Jerri on May 19, 2012 at 11:46 am

Love your hair!!! You will have to set up a video camera and give us a tutorial. I’d love to see how it looks in the front, too!

  8. Marie-Santé on May 19, 2012 at 11:48 am

A waterfall braid! You’re my hero!

  9. Averie @ Averie Cooks on May 19, 2012 at 11:57 am

    Gorgeous rose, gorgeous HAIR!! Wow!

And yes, I remember any nap over like 90 minutes I felt like I won the free-time lottery! Makes you wonder what you did with unaccounted for 90 min chunks of your day before you had a baby, right? Like what a luxury that you had no idea you had, regularly 🙂

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2012 at 3:40 pm

right?! i wasted so much time before

  10. Angela @ Sleep and Repeat on May 19, 2012 at 11:59 am

Ah, I wouldn’t know what to do with all that time either! So awesome!

I love what you’ve done with your hair there. Is it kind of like a french braid but across?

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2012 at 3:40 pm

yeah it’s called a waterfall braid

  21. Lisa on May 19, 2012 at 3:18 pm

Your hair looks amazing! Love that ‘do. Sounds like a fun girls night you had!

  22. Negar M on May 19, 2012 at 3:20 pm

Your hair looks awesome! I’m going to try that, is there a reference (like a YouTube video) you can point me to?

Also, I am so relieved the fantastic Renee’s Organic finally messed up your order (no offense). I always ended up with messed up orders from them (I used to live in the Finisterra Apartments just south of the dinosaur McD’s so I tried to make Renee’s my go-to after Eclectic left).

Also, the Good Egg. I had many classes with one of the waiters there and my husband worked with one of the busboys. If you knew the happenings there……you’d probably flip a table over and beat the staff down a la Zumba style.

I’ll probably always try your Tucson faves at least once though (during future visits). In the end, it’s your hometown, I was only there for a few years.

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2012 at 3:38 pm

that’s really interesting because the past few times i’ve ordered from them, they’ve messed it up (i just feel bad blogging about it every single time). that’s why we’ve been going to eclectic more often
and good egg shenanigans?! i want to know
of all the places i love, blue willow and cafe poca cosa will always be my faves 🙂
      xoxo

      • Negar M on May 19, 2012 at 3:50 pm

Poca Cosa is freaking amazing! I can’t say anything bad about them, ever!

Blue Willow was also pretty freaking awesome, but one time I went and their electricity was out while the rest of the area obviously had electricity. This led me to believe the owner sloppily forgot to pay the electric bill, so I kinda blew the restaurant off permanently. I think you were in Valdosta at the time, otherwise I would have been all over your blog telling on them!!

I really like the idea of Renee’s, but my fave breakfast always was the two dollar breakfast at Frank’s. Totally unhealthy, but so delicious and on the way to morning classes 🙂

        • Negar M on May 19, 2012 at 3:59 pm

Let’s just say that the only good Good Egg location is the one by Park Place, and avoid it the morning after college drinking nights, or go after the brunch rush is over and the older food has been eaten by early birds.

I don’t gross out easily, I eat at questionable halal trucks in my neighborhood (and the sonoran hot dog stand at Grant and Country Club) but the stuff my friend told me….. it doesn’t seem entirely unsanitary, just not cool.

It was little things like, scraping mold off things and using the rest (fine for hard cheese but not okay for yogurt). Soft berries that should be thrown out, soft tomatoes, etc.

I just can’t justify paying for old food. If I want expired yogurt, I’ll just stay at home!

  23. kristen @ verbs and vignettes on May 19, 2012 at 3:22 pm

dinner (and breakfast) looks awesome. I love the idea of a girls night!!! aaaand, it’s just about sangria season. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2012 at 3:47 pm

i like to think it’s always sangria season 😉

Hey! I must admit, I have been a long time fitnessista lurk–I mean fan and have finally decided to ask a question I’ve been burning (wait for the pun) to ask…what is your opinion on using non stick pans (vs. stainless steal pans and ceramic pans). Not sure if you have addressed this question before but wanted to hear your take on it. Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on May 23, 2012 at 12:04 pm

      ohhh hi! 🙂
i use nonstick, but don’t have a huge opinion on them. 🙂

Hi! I bought Goddess dressing today but noticed it’s a bit high in calories/high in fat… Are these good fats?? I hope so because it tastes so so good!!

    • Fitnessista on May 26, 2012 at 11:56 pm

      yes, i think so!

  36. Renee Kreager on May 30, 2012 at 12:38 am

I am so sorry you had a missing salad! You have been such a great supporter of us and I feel very bad that your order lacked the needed attention. I am so grateful I came across this blog and I will be meeting with our staff. Funny thing about reading about Eclectic Pizza and Renee’s Organic Oven…we are the same owners, operators and ingredients we just switched our name because everyone confused us with the cafe on the corner. My husband and I are the creators, bakers and menu makers of what it was and what it is.
We have undergone a huge increase in business and training of more staff and I am very sorry that has made for unreliable service for you.
Your support and continued business is very important to us and all of the issues brought to my attention will be addressed.
    Thank you !
    Renee
