Let there be carbs

Hey hey hey 😀 How’s your day going?? Hope you’ve had a fabulous, relaxing Saturday 😀

After the pilot finished his Mexican feast, we stopped at Einstein’s on the way to the mall.

I got an OJ:

oj

and the usual lox, egg white and capers on a good grains bagel.

bagel

It was insane 😀

We went to Millennia Mall to get the new iPhone for the pilot, but everywhere is sold out.

I didn’t walk away empty-handed, though 😉

express

Two new summer dresses were calling my name… so I answered 😉

After the mall, we stopped at Whole Paycheck for weekend smoothie supplies.

And hot bar:

Babylonian treasure salad, Greek Salad (minus the feta), plantains and yucca

+ a small cup of Dal Saag– spicy lentil soup

Washed down with a coconut water:

The pilot had lasagna, cucumber dill salad, yucca, black beans, plantains and tiramisu 🙂

I’d love to tell ya’ll how Bikram was today, but I didn’t go. I was having so much fun hanging out with the pilot and my family that I didn’t want to break away in the middle of the afternoon. I’m going to try and make it to the morning class, because I really do want to go.

I’m off to find some dinner and possibly see EDWARD AND JACOB tonight :D  <—- big vampire-loving smile

xoxo,

Gina

Something to talk about: How are you spending your 4th of July? What’s on the menu?? International readers, what are your Sunday plans? I love hearing what you guys are up to 🙂

  11. Betsy on July 3, 2010 at 9:24 pm

Hey! So I used to do Bikram on occassion but I always felt sick after, and would have a monster headache. Is there anything in particular you do to rehydrate either before or after class? Thanks! Betsy

    • Fitnessista on July 4, 2010 at 11:55 am

i drink lots of water the day before class, and a bottle in the morning before i go. afterward, i almost always have fresh juice or a coconut water- hope this will help a little!

I LOVE that you call Whole Foods “Whole Paycheck”…so true! I like when food/health bloggers admit that their groceries are expensive…I don’t know why. I guess it just makes you seem more real 🙂

  16. Meaghan on July 3, 2010 at 11:02 pm

We are having a ‘Christmas in July’ party. Complete with: the most white-trash Christmas decorations we could find, turkey dinner served poolside, ugly sweater contest, tacky gift exchange, and Santa appearing in a Speedo

    • Fitnessista on July 4, 2010 at 11:54 am

      that sounds AWESOME

  17. Heather (Heather's Dish) on July 4, 2010 at 12:04 am

  18. Emma on July 4, 2010 at 1:43 am

Sounds like you’re having an amazing time! Today I’ve got a date with Edward and Jacob too! Apart from that I doubt I’ll be up to much else, my boyfriend and I both have chest infections =(

    • Fitnessista on July 4, 2010 at 11:54 am

      feel better soon! <3

  19. Nae (of CookingInCambridge) on July 4, 2010 at 3:37 am

So to get to Whole Foods, I have to walk 45 min to the train station, catch a 45 min train to London, wander around the tube for a good 20 min, and then walk about 5 more.

Have I done it? Oh yes. Because the hot foods bar is THAT GOOD.

  20. Little Bookworm on July 4, 2010 at 3:50 am

Sunday (today) I will probably just be reading, not doing much. Hope you have a great 4th July! 🙂

  21. Stef on July 4, 2010 at 4:51 am

    Hey,
I don’t really have anythin planned for this Sunday. I need to clean up the kitchen since it’s a mess since my dad returned from his holidays a week ago. He tends to just let the pots and pans sit on the stovetop until he needs it again and they are in his way. But since he’s not here this weekend….
Except for that I’ll relax, read blogs and enjoy the fab weather. Something I’m already doing since I’m having breakfast outside while reading blogs 😉
I’m really looking forward to reading all the 4th of July blogs!
Here most of the parties having been yesterday before, during and after the soccer game (I’m in Germany).

Sounds like a fun and relaxing day! I just started Bikram (have been to 2 classes) and LOVE IT! I signed up for a month. I may go today to sweat out the toxins that entered my body yesterday 🙂

  23. Kelsey on July 4, 2010 at 7:55 am

let us know what you think of the movie after you see it! i LOVED it. had to go see it once with the boyfriend and another time with the girls:)

  24. Victoria on July 4, 2010 at 7:59 am

Hey Gina! As you know I am a Brit living in NYC at the moment. However I’m missing 4th July because I have interviews in London! Your tips about adding more fat to my diet and increasing weight training have definitely made a difference and I can still try much harder with both those aims. Hope you have a great one! Victoria x

  25. Sandra on July 4, 2010 at 8:32 am

4th of July is one of the holidays i am most sad about missing by being out of the country! plans for me include a workout, seeing a movie, and at some point eating a bowl of yogurt, strawberries, and blueberries just because it is red white and blue!

between the world cup games and the random uses for them in the favellas (i live in Brazil) there have been a lot of fireworks this weekend – i keep pretending they are my own personal show for the 4th 🙂

  26. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on July 4, 2010 at 8:39 am

Post the dresses you bought! I have such shopping envy because we don’t have Express here in Canada. 🙁

  27. Mo on July 4, 2010 at 9:25 am

Well, currently I am at work . . . although the office is obviously not open, I like to put extra time in to make the week less hectic. Then we are off to a local parade at 11:00. We own a 1930 Model A with a rumble seat in the back that we like to take – we don’t ride in the parade, just to it. Then back home for some r & r on the deck we just built. I’m sure the grill will get put to use too. You and your pilot enjoy the day!

  28. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on July 4, 2010 at 9:50 am

I am now craving Whole Foods hot bar…I wonder if mine is open on the 4th? 😉

  29. Tyffanie on July 4, 2010 at 10:09 am

First off, Happy 4th of July!!!! Here in Chile, our celebration plans are as follows:
-hub’s made breakfast in bed for me (crepes, nutella with strawberry, blueberry and banana….red, white and blue!)
-head over to the US Embassy for the official celebration around noon. Normally they have a band (perhaps the Chilean Air Force Band) to play songs, there are speeches, a flag raising ceremony and of course, singing the national anthem. Not sure what else they will have in store for us. The good thing is that it is sunny where as normally it is overcast and/or raining on the 4th every year!

I just went and saw Eclipse yesterday with the hubs. I didn’t see New Moon, but I did see the first movie and I have to say it–Jacob is way hotter than Edward! It doesn’t help that he’s always without a shirt too. Hope you enjoyed it!

  30. Brigid on July 4, 2010 at 10:11 am

We will be spending the evening with my love’s family. I’m bringing orange chocolate chip cookies (made with farmers market eggs and half whole-wheat flour) and this salad: http://www.rickbayless.com/recipe/view?recipeID=96 minus the avocado, because my other half is allergic.

  31. Ashlei on July 4, 2010 at 11:39 am

Hey Gina! How did you become certified to teach spinning? I’d love to start teaching classes and have been asking around to bloggers I know who teach. Thanks! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on July 4, 2010 at 11:53 am

i’d recommend getting your AFAA group fitness cert (you’ll need a group fitness cert to teach anything, afaa is a great organization) and a spin cert (johnny g has one)- you’ll also need to get cpr certified to teach. double-check with gyms you would like to apply at to see which certs they accept and prefer
