May 2 and 3, 2011

I took another test this morning, just to be sure, and TWO LINES again!! Boom. This is for real!!!!

I’m just really hoping that it sticks. To be sure, we’re not telling everyone yet, since it’s our first baby and I’m not sure how my body is going to handle it. My family is definitely the kind of family where if one person knows, they all know, so we’re just going to err on the safe side and wait. I’m so excited for the moment when we do get to tell them- they’ll flip 😀

The bonus? One of my good friends found out she was pregnant 4 days before I did!! We’ll be able to share stories and help each other out, so for that I’m pretty stoked. Also, her hubby and the Pilot are good little friends, so I love the way it worked out. Fingers crossed for each of us to make it all the way through.

Finishing this one May 3:

So today I went to take a blood test on base just to make sure that all is bueno. Also, I think they make you take a blood test in case you’re lying (?) and they can refer you to an OB. Of course, I got to deal with all of the mumbo jumbo with Tricare since we’re still technically stationed in Georgia, but it was pretty painless. Before I knew it, I was in the “fainter chair” in the blood draw lab (I’m a giant wuss) having my arm poked. They’re supposed to call me tomorrow.

How I’m feeling so far:

-Pretty great and excited, but an emotional trainwreck. I was talking to the Pilot on the phone yesterday and he mentioned that he forgot something that we had talked about. I felt SO hurt that he forgot about it and started crying. Boy oh boy, is he in for a ride…. Poor guy. Hopefully it won’t be like this all the time.

-The girls are sore and a little swollen. This was actually one of the first signs I noticed. I was trying swimsuits on the other night and couldn’t believe how big they looked. Amazing.

-I have a weird, light tugging in my lower abdomen. I know a lot is going on down there and while it doesn’t hurt, I definitely feel it. It’s comforting though… makes me feel like something’s happening.

-I’m bloated. I’m sure (hope?) no one else can notice, but I can’t suck my stomach in. It won’t go in, so it’s just chillin’ there. I kind of look like I had a footlong sub.. and want seconds.

-My hips are sore. My mom’s advice: they’re going to be sore because they’re spreading. Thanks, mom. Haha.

I don’t have any nausea (yet) and really feel all in all pretty normal except for the fact that my appetite sucks. It’s very hard to have a food blog when food doesn’t sound the least bit appealing, which makes it even more difficult to keep all of this a secret.

All I want to eat are protein muffins and cheesy toast. Oh, and Veganaise 😉

Hi Gina, I have been following your blog for awhile but never posted. I just want to say how very happy I am for you and the Pilot. My hubby and I tried for almost 2 years and when it happened I couldn’t contain my excitement. Take care and lets hope that you don’t get the nausea as not everyone does – I got it everyday, all day long for 2 months in the 1st trimester but it was soooo worth it. So excited for you!!!!!!

Love reading your family section. Brings back memories of my two pregnancies. My first signs of both pregnancies was a complete aversion to vegetables ugh! Just when you are supposed to eat as healthy as possible, your body throws you a big curve ball.

Oh gosh, i so remember only wanting to eat carbs, carbs, carbs…and i am SO excited to follow your journey as i need more ‘pregger friendly’ food on my list:)

The big question: will you make the switch to REAL mayo?! It was slathered on everything when I was preggo…ha! Condiments rule.

That’s funny you say that – I couldn’t get enuf ketchup! Mostly on hotdogs… 🙂

Ha, ha! The boob thing made me laugh! That was the very first thing I noticed with my first pregnancy…even before I got a + test they were super sore and bigger. When I was trying for my second I became an obsessive boob feeler just hoping they’d be sore, lol!

      Me too! 🙂

My girls have gone up 1 1/2 cup sizes in 20 weeks, you’re in for a ride girl 😀 On the upside, of course men are completely fascinated by this.

I had a LOT of menstrual-like cramping in the first trimester too, it’s kinda nerve-wrecking but from everything I’ve obsessively-compulsively read, perfectly normal if not accompanied by blood. Kinda like tugging and expanding, which I guess it’s definitely doing, haha.

Sooo lucky on the nausea! Whenever I got hungry, I felt like I was gonna BARF. Never actually did except once, though. Fingers crossed for you!

Oh I had to eat every 2-3 hours or I felt like I was going to hurl!!! Egg sandwiches and smoothies are what I lived on.

    • Fitnessista on June 8, 2011 at 8:00 pm

i’ve only gotten sick once, too.. but was nauseous if i forget to eat!

The boobage is magnificent if not for anything. SOOOO painful in the beginning…settles down in like 6 weeks though. My hubby swears he’s not a “boob guy” but totally was digging the girls from day 1 even though he tried to hide it I saw him checking me out non-stop, LOL.

oh and hip soreness….wait til the ligaments start giving out when you walk! Be so careful with lunges and stretching…your hips are actually stretching and super flexible. So easy to over stretch and not realize it when you workout!

it’s the best side effect ever

Hi Gina! I have been following your blog for about 2 months and it’s awesome! I wanted to drop a quick line to congratulate you and the Pilot on the wonderful news! I can imagine you must be over the moon with excitement! Enjoy yourself! When I was pregnant, I did not want to eat anything healthy…my body was so done with grilled chicken and salads!! LOL!

  12. Karen on June 9, 2011 at 1:29 pm

I also bought 2 tests just to be sure! 😛 I remember the boobs soreness/growth.. my man was a happy haha!!
I wish you the best girly!! You should really take it easy with everything just to be safe!!
I remember feeling something inside the first days/wks also!! I thought maybe it was just me! lol
In a few weeks or days you will feel little bubbles.. those are the first signs of the baby moving!! So exciting!!

I’m really excited for you two and love your family section!

I have a two year old and she’s the greatest! I bet you’re going to love motherhood!

I had a great pregnancy, and here’s hoping you will too. I did remember the “pulling” feelings in my lower abdomen though in the beginning. It was weird and I worried about it, but there’s a lot of stretching and changing down there so it’s NBD! 😉
