Meg: 5 Things

I know this post may not be 100% fashion focused, but lately my mind has been on overdrive since starting a new job. Today, sitting at my desk I was thinking about some of my favorite fashion bloggers, and one of my favorite features they do is called, “5 Things”. So sitting there, amongst paperwork and training materials I decided to come up with 5 things I love currently. Ironically, most of them seem to be fashion related, so I decided to share them with you beautiful people!

1. Men’s Clothing

NewImage

In the summertime, I like to throw together effortless outfits that are comfy and relaxed. Men’s shirts (button ups, tees, even baggy crewnecks) give me the look I want every time. Pair with a topknot and a bright lipstick and you’re ready for a day date with your best friend!

 2. Treasure Hunting

NewImage

With my wedding less than a year away, I have been rummaging through thrift stores like a mad woman! My favorite things to hunt for at the moment are vases for my centerpieces and brooches that will be used for another wedding project!

 3. Coffee Dates

NewImage

Again, not entirely fashion focused, but I’ve been loving coffee dates with my one and only. We’ve been chatting it up about honeymooning, what our groomsmen will wear, and other fine wedding details.

  4. Making Plans

NewImage

Someone who loves fashion as much as I do can understand the magnitude of responsibility that comes with decorating a big party! It may sound dramatic, but I have drowning in wedding inspiration (ehem..Pinterest..). Our venue has so much charm and romance all built in, so how do you decorate something so pretty without going overboard…? Staring at pretty decoration ideas all day is something I definitely love and will miss once this whole process is over.

5. Revlon Just Bitten lip balm

NewImage

Hands down, THE perfect lip color. It comes in many shades, feels light and fresh on your lips, easy as pie to reapply, and gives a pretty matte look that lip gloss can’t. Seriously, one of my favorite beauty products of all time!

So, there you have my super random 5 Things. What are 5 things you absolutely love right now?

    I love this!

I’ve been more into the mens wear thing. I love a men’s v-neck with some skinny jeans and makeup. Works every time. You have some serious style, Meg!

    FIVE THINGS!

    1. Thunderstorms! Especially on a lazy saturday morning.
    2. Ice cream in all varieties.
    3. The perfect zip-up hoodie. I’ve become an American Apparel hoodie fiend.
    4. I love dates with my guy too! He is a beer aficionado, so its always fun to enjoy a new craft brew on his porch or at a local pub (preferably with outdoor seating in the afternoon or a cool Minnesota summer evening)
    5. Thoughts of upcoming vacations! I’ve already got plans to visit two friends, one in Texas, one in Florida, this summer.

Love this Meg! I just got engaged and am one of those brides who knows what I like, wants to decorate the wedding venue, but am not crafty. I’ve seen such cute ideas on Pinterest but need a push of inspiration to actually do these projects. I have similar taste to you so any DIY wedding craft blogs you want to throw our way, FEEL FREE!!! Lol 🙂

I’ve heard those Revlon lip stick things are awesome, I have been wanting to try them! Pinterest is such a great place for wedding decor ideas. One of my friends recently got married and it was one of the most beautiful weddings I have seen and a lot of it was pinterest inspired.

Gaaaaah. I just walked by a huge display of the Revlon lippies, pretty much drooling. If I wasn’t in a hurry and being pulled along by my fiancee, I would have bought at least one of each color =P

  6. Leslie on June 14, 2012 at 11:01 pm

The revlon lip butters are great also. I pick one up yesterday. Love the way it feels.

  7. Leslie on June 14, 2012 at 11:03 pm

I meant picked up one. Hate typos!

1 – Going shopping at Crossroads Trading and getting a bunch of clothes for super cheap. Besides jeans that are already worn it are SO much more comfortable.
2 – Flowy tops that are comfortable and make me feel good
3 – A nice pedicure so I’m not embarrassed showing my toes
4 – Finding shorts that fit, look cute and aren’t super short
5 – Bare Minerals make up – I’ve always heard great things but just tried and LOVE

  10. Suzanne on June 14, 2012 at 11:44 pm

    Loving your posts, Meg! <3

    Here are my 5 things:
    1. Bare Minerals Faux Tan (I am incredibly pale and this gives me a nice natural glow and not the oompa-loompa look).
    2. Cardigans. I wear one almost everyday. It's great for the a/c on the train and in the office. I have them in every color. 🙂
    3. Organic Strawberries. Since they are in season now, they've been on sale everywhere. When I am craving sweets at night, I can eat half (or whole!) carton for far less calories than a 'naughty' snack.
    4. Tangerine nailpolish. This is the color of choice for my toes lately. Screams summer to me.
    5. Clinique Chubby Moisturizing Lip Balm. My fave tinted lip balm. Great subtle color and feels light on the lips.

Hi Meg, I’ve wanted to try the Revlon lip stains. Which colors do you have? Which colors are your favorite?

  12. Julie on June 15, 2012 at 1:45 am

I love all of this, especially the mint stripe cardigan you have. I have to grab myself some of that lip stain. The one I bought isn’t very good (I think it’s CoverGirl).

Where is the best place to go thrift shopping/how do you go about finding thrift stores?

  13. Jess on June 15, 2012 at 3:31 am

I love your mint stripe cardigan too! And your men’s shirt look! I’ve never been able to pull off the men’s shirt look but you’ve inspired me to try again!

  14. Courtney on June 15, 2012 at 8:04 am

Seriously, you and Kyle are gorgeous and have amazing style! PLEASE do a bunch of wedding related fashion posts when the time comes!! I can’t wait to see pics!

  15. Melissa (Better Fit) on June 15, 2012 at 9:21 am

I’m really enjoying these posts- I definitely need help with ideas and inspiration for style and beauty- I’m a total dunce when it comes to these!! 🙂

I’m not sure I have a top 5 at the moment, but one thing I am trying to get into is lip colour. I don’t normally go for it, but I’m trying it out and it feels a bit risky (since I’m not used to it) but fun!

  16. Andrea P on June 15, 2012 at 10:10 am

Love this post 🙂 I’ve always wanted to try the men’s shirt look too but not sure I could pull it off, looks great on you though!

    my 5 things:
-maxi dresses – so comfy and easy to dress up or down
    -iced lattes from starbucks
-ankle pants..wear them for work almost everyday and they are perfect with heels, or flats!
-morrocan oil for my hair..I cannot live without it.
-korres wild rose mineral foundation – makes my skin look flawless everytime!

    • Fitnessista on June 15, 2012 at 11:52 am

    2. Summer time puppy play dates
    3. Coconut Oil
    4. Maxi dresses with wedges (I’m a shorty so I ALWAYS wear heels)
    5. Winged eyeliner.

  18. CoutStar on June 15, 2012 at 11:45 am

    Wonderful 5 things!
    My 5 things are:

I am sure I have missed this somewhere, but does Meg have her own blog about fashion?

Hi Meg and nice post. I think i will go and buy me those Revlon lip stains. Im enjoying and have been using OJON hair products such as the deep treatment.

  21. mary on June 17, 2012 at 5:01 pm

Where do you get those Just Bitten Kissables? I looked at two stores and the ones I bought have a stain on one end and a balm on the other, and don’t look like your’s.

  22. mary on June 17, 2012 at 5:03 pm

Never mind. Google tells me Target sells them.

I don’t like the 2-end version. The lip balm end crushed when I used it, and it doesn’t seem to retract? Arizona summers make everything melty…

  23. Ellie on July 10, 2012 at 6:16 am

I’m currently sitting at my desk in rainy and windswept London town and reading the five favourites cheered me up no end 🙂

My top 5 for the season:

Sitting in the Royal Academy garden before work with fresh coffee, yum

Shu umera eyelash curlers, I bought my first pair last week and they are genius!

Rimmel lash accelerator mascara, (has the eyelash enhancing serum in the product solution, fab)

Barbour jackets, perfect for a rainy English summer and worn by the beautiful Duthchess of Cambridge

My new waist belt which I bought, gulp, from a maternity shop even though I’m not pregnant because the adjustable design is ideal for girls with small waists (I have never been able to find a belt my size before, whoop whoop)

Good luck with your wedding plans Meg, many congrats 🙂

    E xxx
