Meg: A New Vintage Dress

This Monday and Tuesday, I took a mini vacation up to Phoenix with my best friend Lindy. We drove the two hours North West and spent the weekend thrifting, eating, and spending time with my sister and Vies.

We weren’t having much luck thrifting, so we made our way to an antique mall. Things get much pricier when they are labeled as “antique”, but sometimes it’s worth a splurge. Especially when beautiful dresses are involved…

My best friend picked a lovely yellow dress, and wearing it she looked JUST like Betty Draper J I went with this lovely purple and white striped number.

I decided to throw it on for a coffee date with Kyle last night. I paired it with an H&M cardigan, Urban Outfitter’s wedges, Forever 21 bracelets, and milkmaid braids.

My favorite thing about wearing vintage is the fit. I’m not a fan of short hemlines, so vintage works for me wonderfully. It made a comfortable date night outfit! It was definitely my favorite find of the weekend.

I loved spending time with my girls, and finding a vintage treasure was just an added bonus 🙂

Would you ever wear vintage?

I would LOVE to wear vintage clothing!!! But I cant find a store that has them and I hate to shop online because the clothes dont always fit me right.
Little confession: sometimes I am in forever 21 and I see a dress or a top and I think “That is Meg approved!” because it looks like your style!

I have always been a vintage “creeper” but have never taken the plunge and purchased anything. Your posts are making me think twice. Next time I see a piece I like, I’m going for it. I like that, chances are, you will not see anyone else wearing the same thing you are!

I love that purple! I like vintage for the same reason. I don’t really have the body that fits all those weird stick-straight, super short dresses.

I don’t own too much vintage clothing. I buy lots of antique furniture/decor/dishes for the home, but have trouble pulling off the clothing. I think you need to strike a balance where it keeps the vintage charm but is made current/relevant as well. You’ve done it above with the jewelry and belt 🙂 I do, however, have lots of second-hand clothing (just not vintage per se) because i looooove a bargain. This week I bought this awesome plum corduroy jcrew blazer for $10 (barely warn – found at Savers) – looking forward to rocking it this fall with the Ralph Lauren cognac riding boots i picked up at a yard sale for $5!

I love vintage! I’m short and an hourglass shape, so I love ’50s and ’60s dresses for the reasons you do.
