Meg: Fashion Resolutions for 2013

I love making New Year resolutions. The idea of a fresh start is so motivating! This year I have an impressively long resolutions list…which I’m in the process of putting into an inspiration board J

While thinking about all of the things I’d like to change or accomplish in 2013, I began thinking about some fashion-related goals I have as well. My personal resolutions are obviously going to be much more of a priority, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to set some style goals!

My five fashion resolutions (with pictures from my 2013 Pinterest board):

1. Experiment with hair-styles.

This could mean hair-cuts (why am I loving short hair so much?!), color, bang style, or just general day to day style! I’ve had the same do for a while now and I’m getting antsy for a change

2. Wear taller shoes.

I love how heels/wedges make my calves look. Why shouldn’t I celebrate that more during the year?

3. Wear more lipstick.

I know this one won’t make Kyle jump up and down, since he hates lipstick kisses (HA!), but I love the look of bold red lips and I fully intend on wearing them more often.

4. Care less about what people think.

I have always taken other people’s opinions into consideration when I get dressed. Not this year. I will wear whatever shorts and whichever swim suit. NO CARE. If people aren’t into the vintage old-lady look, they’re going to have to deal with it 😉

5. Monogram everything.

I’m going to be 100% honest with you—I love monogrammed things mainly because my name is changing in May and I’m super excited. Therefore I will be needing some new accessories with MNN stamped all over them 🙂 Plus, monogram is so darn classy.

There you have it. My top 5 fashion resolutions for 2013! To sum it all up, I want to be bolder and womanly and I want to wear whatever I please. Yolo, right?

What are your fashion resolutions for this year? Happy 2013!!

Xo-Meg

I love your style! You always look so pretty and well polished in pics. I’m jealose. I’m usually a hot mess of workout clothes and ponytail.

Which brings me to my style resolution:
NOT always wear workout clothes and a ponytail!!!!!
Seriously. I’m actually very into floral ruffle girly things so I want my style to reflect that. I purchased some pieces over the holidays to motivate me!

Great resolutions- I may have to steal a few of them 😉 One that I made was to make myself presentable every day. Even if I throw on a sweatshirt & put my hair up, still swipe on some mascara, blush and concealer. It seems to make my day better.

    some of mine:

–accessorize more! i don’t own a lot of accessories, and even with what i do have, i always forget and leave the house without jewelry/ scarf/ sungasses/ etc… accessories just aren’t my forte, but i know they can really make or break a look.

–try new makeup and beauty techniques. i have been stuck in the same eyeliner, mascara, and blush routine for years. i signed up for birchbox after reading your post on it, so hopefully that will help me find some new products!

–this seems like a no-brainer, but WEAR MORE SUNSCREEN. i finally grew up and quit baking in tanning beds a few years ago, but i’m still not very good at slathering the stuff on before i go outside. i know i’ll thank myself for it someday.

great idea to make beauty resolutions!

I am unabashed in my love of monograms! My fashion resolution is totally to continue to play around with my hair. I did my first blow-out two days ago…it took me forever but I was thrilled because it came out so good. Practice makes perfect.

If something is monogrammed, I am instantly in love with it!

Mine would be just to switch it up a bit more and have more fun with my outfits. I tend to wear a variation of the same v neck and nice jeans every day.

I love the way wedges make my calves look too! haha

I think that you would look great with red lipstick…..my bf hates lipstick too but he’s a little more tolerable if I wear a matte lipstick rather than a gloss.
All of my friends laugh at my retro high-waisted bathing suit too but I don’t care because I like it!

I love your fashion resolutions! Mine is to get rid of clothes I don’t ever wear and replace them with looks I can wear more than once 🙂 I also want to monogram things since I got married last year I haven’t made any!

I absolutely love this! I have always thought your style was fearless, and it is definitely a look you pull off well! I am at a point where I am ready to just wear what I want, when I want without worrying about other peoples opinions as well. Good for you!

I recently heard a sylist say something like: Once a week you should walk out of the house wearing something that you deep down wonder if you can really pull it off.
That’s my summary of what was said. 🙂
I’m 32 (but normally feel closer to 25), so sometimes I’m afraid to dress too young. But last week I wore a grey dress, purple tights and ankle boots. Man, I wasn’t super confident in it at first but quickly warmed up to the ensemble. So I want to step out of my comfort zone a little more often with my style.

Oh gee thanks I just bought those Tory Burch sunglasses! I needed them.

    i love this so much!
coincidentally, #2 #3 and #4 are all on my list!!

#4 especially resonated with me! people mostly wear flower halos on their head for weddings and such? well, i don’t care! even if i’m studying in the library all day and some may think i am an oddball for sporting a flower halo, but i don’t care! i do what i want
